A very British-style hotel. The front desk lady was very welcoming. The rooms were small but clean. Parking is free; remember to ask for a coupon from the front desk. The breakfast was hearty, the sea view was amazing, and the pool was open until 10 PM. 👍 Old hotels often have poor soundproofing.

Excellent food, just wish we’d skipped lunch as the portions are generous. The burgers are stacked high and the blade of beef was to die for, as were the views. We’ll definitely be back as we are moving a short walk away and a restaurant this good deserves a regular visit!

I booked for the Chinese night with a lovely selection of Chinese, buffet style, food. We started with a sharing platter with prawn balls, spare ribs, bao buns, spring rolls & prawn crackers. It was a delicious platter. The buffet to following was equally lovely, sweet & sour chicken, char sui pork, szechuen beef, to name some of the choice plus noodles and rice. We really enjoyed it. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. I considered the price of £20.95 per person was reasonable for the evening we had. Looking forward to the next theme night, in March, Mexican. Please support these events and have an enjoyable evening.

Me and a friend went for cream tea and was the worst cream tea I've had. Crap coffee, cheapest of jam and scones like play dough. 0/10 wouldn't recommend, save your money.

Enclose is a copy of two letters I have sent to your hotel, dated as shewn for which I have received no reply. I had hoped that by making a discreet contact would be more politic. However having received no communication from you I have no other option than to take my complaint forward, as well as making it public on your website. Enclosed a copy of the letter I sent you on the 15th July - this message is just to check that you have received it. The contact name I have is Kat Johnson on the confirmation of my booking, received on my mobile phone We recently came to your hotel to celebrate my wife’s birthday on the 13th and 14th July. We enjoyed our stay, the room was well appointed, the view was spectacular, also the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and our meal in the restaurant on the 13th was excellent. However there were some other more worrying problems: On the afternoon of 13th of July we reported to the desk that the television in our room, 516, was not working inasmuch as we could get sound but no vision. This was important we wanted to see the Wimbledon Men’s Final. A member of staff was sent up to try and get the TV to work, he said that the TV in our room had not worked a week ago and it just needed to be switched off, then on again (which I had tried already) but it still did not work. He said he could not do anything about replacing the set until next day, the 14th. This would mean we could not watch the match in private, and we did not wish sit in the bar, which was the only other option, to watch the match. The replacement TV did not arrive at all during our stay! We had booked meals on the 13th and 14th in the restaurant for 19.15. The meal on the 13th was perfect. However on the 14th there were various problems, and there appeared to be some issues in the kitchen. The waiter was placed in a very awkward position in that he had to apologise for part of my option, The Pork Belly, this included Black Pudding, partially my reason for choosing it. Despite being on the menu this was not available and it was suggested it could be replaced with more mashed potato, carrots, or more gravy - which seemed to be no substitute for Black Pudding, so had to choose another option. He also had to apologise for the non-availability of my wife’s starter option, a vegetable terrine. This was also not noted on the menu, and we were only informed sometime after we had placed the order. We actually received our main course at 21.45, considering we had booked for an earlier meal, this was far too late to really enjoy the meal! We left the left the restaurant at about 22.40 without having been offered a dessert. In all these situations the waiter was extremely apologetic for what was obviously a problem not of his making. I eventually received a reply fom the manager: Reply: Dear Mr Sparkes We would like to thank you for your email highlighting a few issues you unfortunately experienced during your stay at our hotel. Walked from polperro to looe and came across this place which looked lovely. We were only going to stop for a drink but ended up having lunch as the menu was fantastic. It was a hot day, had beautiful views from the balcony and fab food. I had the prawns, smoke salmon and mackerel with salad and rolls and it was the best fish dish I’ve ever had, so fresh and tasty! Husband had bacon and Brie sour bread toastie with chips, he loved it. Will return again one day, 100%

So we have just returned from a 6 day break at this hotel. We stayed in Room 620. Firstly i have to say the room was spacious and cleaned daily to a high standard. The bathroom had a deep bath shower and rain shower. Very nice....and a balcony with the perfect view. Tea and coffee facilities and a decent TV. As my wife has a wheelchair we were pleased to find a lift from the ground to reception. Six stairs to climb to a second lift which took us within five stairs of our room which was tbh very manageable. The car parking at busy times can be a little difficult but it was free and easy. Made use of The Spa where wifey had a facial and i had a back massage. The restaurant if you want an evening meal is good with decent food and a bar for indoor or outdoor dining. We found the breakfast very nice with most things available. The staff were very friendly and smiley which is always nice to see and the reception staff really helped us out as and when we needed it. We varied our evening meal by eating in or going into town....The Smugglers Cott is a must by the way! Go out of the hotel turn right and a 10min stroll along the coastal path is a very nice food and drink stop called i think The Cabin with seating and shade. Lovely little place to go for a lunchtime snack. The only negative here is the copious amount of noisy seagulls which is a common problem where ever you go these days, but all in all we had a lovely time and i would fully recommend staying here.

Stayed here for four nights and wish we could have stayed longer. I asked for a room that was easily accessible as my husband is disabled and reception were very obliging and we had a spacious room with a balcony and amazing view on the first floor. Lift only goes to first floor. The room was very clean as was the rest of the hotel . The spa and swimming pool were a great hit. I had three treatments which were a reasonable price and Laura is a lovely and very experienced massage therapist. The hotel had a really good feel about it and I think that is down to the friendly and helpful staff. Parking is first come first served but there is plenty of free parking near the hotel. There is an all day Bistro with an extensive menu and a restaurant . My only criticism would be that the menu in the restaurant was limited and a little expensive but everything else about the hotel made up for this. Will definitely be returning
