Just returned from the Portbyhan Hotel as part of a Platinum Coach Holiday and the location is great, that's the good part over and then sadly we slip downhill. Our room 207 which is an upgrade with a river view is in fact a single room with a double bed, with nowhere to put your suitcases, The shower is so tiny and you end up with the sink on your lap whilst sitting on the loo, handy when you want to wash your hands. the room is super hot and you can't open the window without ten thousand seagulls squawking, Definitely needs air conditioning, Breakfast was OK but everything is mini sized, marmalade comes in an eye bath and fresh fruit dishes the size of egg cups, the whole affair is one of penny pinching to maximise profit. Dinner is not much better soup is the worst I've ever had, thick and tasteless. you get three choices for mains one meat dish one fish dish one vegetarian dish and that's it. for sweet it's either pudding, ice cream or cheeses and biscuits and wait for it the cheese and biscuits consist of three crackers, two tiny pieces of stale cheese and three tiny grapes. Actually it suited my wife as she had just started her diet If you enjoy good food and a peaceful nights sleep then go somewhere else as this is the meanest hotel I've ever stayed in
