The checking in and out process was simple with no problems. There are ongoing renovations and improvements. The restaurant was closed however delivery options and nearby eateries and COOP mini market close by. Easy access to city center by bus or a 30 minute walk along the main road through the Victoria park near the University campus. It has a convenient location with an affordable price with free parking available.

The hotel is under renovation and is filthy. It is practically deserted and when I was there there were only cars parked in the back of the hotel and both had their windows smashed. I would definitely not recommend their hotel. As a single women I did not feel safe staying there.

Place needs a complete overhaul and well past it's best. Lucky arrived late and got away early. Very dated and in need of a clean. Been a while since I came across a spot like this. Are they any quality inspections carried out anymore. Star rating well off the mark

This is without doubt the worst accommodation I have ever been in, I won’t say stayed in as we didn’t stay, we went to our rooms and within 15 minutes we had checked out and left. We booked 5 rooms for work, the whole hotel was dirty, smelly, and dangerous, live wires on show in my bedroom, something that looked like bloody up the wall and along the skirting in my bedroom and banisters on the 1st floor that were loose. I am actually lost for words as to how bad it was.

This must be the worst hotel stay I have ever had. I booked a superior room in this 3 * hotel. From the room perspective, there was a big draft coming through the window. the electric socket was broken, the fixtures and fittings were in a poor state, the television didn't work and there was no hair dryer. The bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from the previous occupant, the bath was dirty, the cups had a layer of dust in them and there was chewing gum or something equally sticky on the floor. In addition the curtains didnt completely close, letting in light from the road outside. On check in I asked about the restuarant but it was closed as I was told that the hotel was being refurbished although there was no sign of this anywhere. I had to go out to get a take away. When I went to work the following day I left a note by the television asking for a hairdryer and for a working television as there was no-one on reception. When I returned that evening my room hadn't been serviced so no chance of what I had asked for. The person on reception didnt lift his head from his phone even when I asked him a question. In addition to the above, this is certainly not a hotel for single female travellers.

I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels all over the world, and I can honestly say that the Regency Hotel in Leicester was one of the worst, a health hazard to stay in. Not only was the room and hotel unloved and very dirty; during the second night, rain was flooding in the room, resulting into soaked curtains dripping onto a soggy carpet. It was like sleeping next to several dripping taps that you couldn’t turn off. It was impossible to fall back asleep. Upon further inspection the next morning, my wife found extensive mould behind the curtains, evidence that this was not a one-off occurrence. When my wife tried to complain to the manager the next morning, he insisted he was not aware of any mould of leaky roof/window. She was transferred to another manager who didn’t even listen to the complaint but shouted at her, calling her names. They charged £275/NIGHT (radio 2 party in the park) , knowing very well the state of the room (with a leaky roof and health hazardous mould!). They clearly have no morals or shame. EVEN IF ITS THE LAST HOTEL AVAILABLE - DONT BOOK THIS HOTEL

On arrival walking into the lobby I was greeted with a cloud of cigarette fumes. Creaking floorboards were tolerable due to the age of the building. I had travelled a very long way cross country and needed the toilet I lifted the toilet seat to be greeted by an unflushed toilet. Inspecting the rest of my room, it was aged with peeling wallpaper on the ceiling, cigarette burnt grime engrained carpets and smashed cheap venetian blinds. I spent the little time I wanted to be awake in the room wearing sanitary towel plastic bags on my feet as the carpet was in such poor condition and none of my bags did I even dare place on the floor. It was 2330hrs I was tired and just wanted to go to sleep as it was just a shower and no bath to soak in. The shower had mould in most of the grouting and grime around the edges. I pulled the quilt back, the sheets were pristine white and pressed so I felt slightly assured.... however the frame was that from a prison cell and the odours of stale dribble seeped thought the pillowcase from the pillow. I woke in the night with my skin crawling I'm sure (or hope) it was paranoia. in the morning all I wanted was to get in the hot shower to get clean, all I can do is describe the experience like a weather forecast "Good morning the weather for today will be a centralised downpour of scalding hot water with very light rain coming out at 45*across the area. Final inspection before leaving the grandeur of The Regency Hotel urged me to have one last look around..... Opening the drawers. drawer one, broken bits of furniture. Drawer two, surprise, surprise all clear. Drawer 3...… empty all but evidence the I was not alone...….. mouse droppings. As to complaining and refund...... reception was empty and 3 sets of of vacated room keys on the desk.
