Suites 1478

Superb central location by the cathedral so easy access to the local centre of town, shops restaurants etc. For travel it’s also easy to flag down taxi cabs. Suites 1478 is an old building beautifully renovated for the better healed traveller. However we found the rooms odour over powering, ambiance dark and depressing. Layout and supplies were adequate with underground car park access nearby. No English channels on tv ! Internet was pretty much NO GO!! Advised to try the Cathedral cafe supply 🤷‍♀️ but still no access. Even moved rooms as an essential these days and still no reliable connection. Hotel said it was ‘ being fixed next week when we complained but I think an ongoing issue as electrically /internet has a major flaw. Breakfast display was good but nothing covered, and no freshly cooked food especially eggs- eggs cooked at 8 am if not taken we’re still there at 10. One major dislike was the fact the breakfast was open to locals and visitors so often busy and hence lost the cosy feel and often we felt intruding.🤔 Staff were pleasant and helpful but sure to attend to outside guests first we noted.

I am happy to my stay with Secrotel Hotel Praque. I book it after checking reviews from other travelers comment. Yes, price is good and to it's location, it is close to shopping centre, restaurants and supermarkets. Staff are helpful. Buffet breakfast is good. Breakfast restaurant is on the top level of this hotel, we can enjoy stunning ocean view and sunlight while having breakfast. It is bonus. However, a minor thing I like to share is during busy morning especially when restaurant is full house, it always running out of coffee cups, juice glasses as well as cereal bowls. I cannot have to wait a long while for these 3 times from my 5 days breakfast. Maybe hotel can put some signage to suggest guests be eco-friendly minded to re-use glass, cup and bowl when refill. As I have seen some have 5 -6 cups and glass on a table. Bed is comfortable, room is clean with basic things you need. Yes, no electric kettle, no slippers as standard 3 stars hotel do. So, I have no complaint. There has no more noise from constructions, as this is my concern after reading other travelers comments in the pass. So I think all is done. Hotel locates next to taxi, bus station but not close to beach area. It's no problem to me for this winter travel. I am very happy for all. Definitely recommend it to others.
Sercotel Playa Canteras

I stayed for 11 nights in December in both a superior balcony room (7th floor sea facing), and a classic room without balcony (6th floor also sea facing). There were some issues with the loss of water supply over the first two days. This was intermittent and outside the control of the hotel, but nonetheless did spoil the experience and cause a lot of aggravation. It's also important to know that the balcony room wasn't really worth paying extra for - I was on the 7th floor, above the swimming pool solarium area. But there was zero sunshine on the balcony for the whole time. I assume you'd get some sunlight in the summer months but if booking in the winter, be aware you might be in the shade the whole time. It did look like the balconies on the very top floor (8th) get lots of sunshine. The rooftop pool and solarium area is nice but quite small - the pool is very cold and not really worth much. It would be better to have more space for people to lie down - there are only 6 sunbeds so you have to grab these early, before the sun comes round. If you're not in a superior room but on the front, be aware that there are lots of lively bars and restaurants immediately beneath the floors. I was lucky to get a 6th floor room, away from the bars to avoid noise disturbance. Also, the water flooded the rest of the bathroom floor in room 709. Despite these negatives, the rooms themselves are typical for a modern hotel - see pictures - decent walk-in rain shower and plenty of hot water (when water is working!). The exterior window panes were filthy but I requested cleaning and they actually removed the whole pane and replaced them - much more than I expected! Overall, once the issues highlighted above were resolved, I was happy to extend my stay over Christmas and would stay here again as long as I got a room on an upper floor.
