When we were at the Loma Real, a change of ownership had just taken place and it was being renovated at the same time. But that didn't bother us too much. The owner was very friendly and served breakfast himself in the morning. Here you could freely express your wishes and he tried to serve each guest a varied breakfast individually. Fruit, Gallo Pinto, waffles, toast, juice, tea, coffee, scrambled eggs or fried eggs... there was more than enough and it was very tasty. Unfortunately, you still have to go out for dinner, which is a bit more effort for travelers without a rental car like us. You either walk down the unpaved path to the main road and go diagonally across to the restaurant or you take an Uber or taxi and drive into La Fortuna. We tried walking along the main road, but it's far too dangerous. The Loma Real has 3 pools with hot spring water with a view of the volcano and while you're bathing or lying in a lounge chair, one of the hotel's resident peacocks comes by every now and then. The room was clean, had air conditioning and a fan. Since everything is still under renovation and the location and bumpy access for our Uber drivers were not ideal, we are giving it 4 out of 5 stars. Overall, we were very satisfied and would definitely recommend it.
