This is a great place to stay. The room was well appointed and very clean. Although we were on the ground floor we had an excellent view of the volcano (when it wasn’t shrouded in clouds!). The staff were helpful and friendly. A really nice feature is the common area on the first floor, with fridge, microwave and coffee making facilities. Also with a wonderful view! The pool is small but perfect for cooling off in. Breakfast at the Oasis down the road is a real treat, as you share the experience with a wonderful array of brightly coloured birds having their breakfast too!

Fortuna Retreat is a brand new hotel, with beautiful design of rooms and garden. Rooms are very clean, personnel are very friendly and while you are inside, you will have great view of Volcano (neighborhood outside the hotel doesn't look great thought). Hotel is 9 min drive from downtown, nothing in walking distance around. Hotel is reasonably priced and I would recommend it and it to other guests. How can it improve: There is no 24/7 reception, reception leaves by 6 pm, if any help is needed after that, you can't find anyone. There is no dining option inside the hotel ( breakfast is served at an oasis which is 5 min walking distance. Quality of breakfast is very good with beautiful birds view ,however being out of premises could be inconvenient for some guests. As there is no dining option inside hotel, it would be nice to have microwave added to the rooms ( or even common area), so if we order food from outside, we can warm it up. There is no laundry option at hotel, if they add a paid washer /dryer, that would be very helpful.

This new hotel exceded all our expectations. The staff are professional and very helpful. Special thanks to Edson who helped us to deal with some issues with our car rental. Lovely pool, beautiful garden and well located. We loved that place. The units with private pools are superb.

We booked a night here last minute on our honeymoon as we needed to leave Tortuguero a day early. We were lucky to get a room as it is so booked up but I can see why! The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It’s set a fair walk from La Fortuna town but we enjoyed the walk there and there is a large car park if we wanted to drive. The whole hotel is quiet, immaculate and beautifully decorated. We would visit again in a heartbeat.
