Kyoto Shimogyo Ward 4-star Hotels

Pros : Close to JR Kyoto station, just about 10 mins walk. Hotel looks quite new & very clean Rooms are spacious enough (considering Japan’s standard) Staff are generally friendly and always prompt to offer help. Very extensive breakfast buffet spread, literally one of the best we had before. Definitely worth booking a room package including breakfast. The only downside, the hotel tends to be a little overcrowded and bustling during our stay. It’s great for families but if you are looking for quiet or private getaway, then you may want to consider elsewhere.

In early July, I stayed with my grandson (１ years old ３ months) and 5 people with my family, and in late August I stayed with my husband and wife ２ people. In mid August, I booked for 5 people again. Potel is located next to the Kyoto Aquarium, 13 hectares of umekoji Park on the south side, and Jr Shinkansen, limited Express, new rapid trains, and trains stop at each station run south of the park. The old Kyoto City trams run south and west of the hotel, and the west is Royal Park Hotel, Starbucks, Family Mart, Jr umekoji Kyoto Nishi station and Kyoto Railway Museum. There is a parking lot, a front entrance, and a public bath potato hot water in the separate building. The hotel is a large hall (between the children), and adults can enjoy beer, wine and coffee from 15 o'clock by self service. The potel, which is completely different from the hotel until now, is very clean and feels very good. [Rooms] We used the southwest corner twin with a balcony where the park can be seen. From the top of the hotel, the room is lined up on the left and right sides of the corridor from the 2 floor to the 5 floor in the L-shaped building. The west and south rooms have balconies. Since the window is from the floor to the ceiling, there is an open feeling and the room is bright. Cleaning is well done to the net door, window glass and bathroom drain. I am happy to stay for a consecutive night because the storage space of clothes is large. The thick mattress of the baby bed is kind to the child. [Security] Use the elevator with the card key and open the automatic door of the passage. 【Joint Bathroom Potato Yu】 The large and small Yufune is overflowing, so it has a feeling of cleanliness. You can enjoy dry sauna. Milk soap and towels are brought from the room. 【Breakfast】 Japanese style dishes are lined up in buffet style. Let's start eating at ７ when the store opens because it is crowded. [Awaima] There is a large space where parents and children can play and relax by taking off their shoes. You can go up and down the central stairs from 2 floor to 4 floor. [Laundry room] There is a coin type washing dryer on the 5 floor. [Rooftop] You can see Kyoto Tower, the five-story tower of Toji Temple, and the JR Shinkansen.

The location is superb ! But we had a hard time finding the entrance . there should be more info about the direction . we arrived at 1am and there wasn’t anyone to ask for directions . the room is really tiny and would only be good for a short stay. it is a convenient place as it is on top of the station . i’ve posted the exit of the hotel - kintetsu hachijo guchi

This is a no-frills, modern hotel (7-Eleven is next door). Our Twin Room was big and comfortable with a good-sized bathroom; a nice touch to have a fabric freshener spray near the coat hooks. It’s a walking distance to Omiya station along the Hankyu Line which includes Umeda (great for those coming from Osaka); close to downtown (Kawaramachi) where you can either walk or take the subway to attractions such as Nishiki Market (Shijo) and Gion (Gion-shijo).

Clean and comfortable room with daily house keeping, comes with all the toiletries I needed. Conveniently located at 3 minutes walk from the closest subway exit and also close to bus stations for routes to popular sightseeing spots. Self-service check-out machine was easy to use and the process took only half a minute. Suggest to add a clothesline and a magnifying makeup mirror in the bathroom, and the room would be perfect.

The room is very good. It is located in Shijo Kawaramachi. There is a commercial street downstairs. It is very convenient for shopping, but it is not noisy at all. The service is also very good. If you arrive early, you can store your luggage. I like this hotel very much and also like the atmosphere of Kyoto. I will stay here again next time I come to Kyoto.

Although the room is small, it is well-equipped and the transportation is convenient. It is just outside Exit 6 of Shijo Station. It can be walked for half a minute. The bathroom is well separated from wet and dry, and there is a self-service check-in machine, which is very convenient. It's a pity that the hotel does not have a hot spring room.

Usually the price of this hotel is more flat, in its very new and clean state, it is a very recommended choice for Kyoto accommodation. The following is the same as a few introductions to the room experience: 1. The entrance dressing room, bathroom, toilet, and bedroom are all separated by doors 2. The bathroom wash area is also separated to improve the efficiency of use 3. The bathtub is more than 30% longer than the average Japanese size 4. The hair dryer is Dyson 5. The space is really big in Japan 6 . It’s no problem to open two large suitcases. 7. The bed is moderately soft and hard. 8. The interior decoration style is very Kyoto 9. The Kyoto Lichi room is similar in style (of course, the materials are much worse) 10. You can see Kiyomizu Temple from the window, and you can see the cherry blossoms of Takashimawa/Singsong/I haven’t played such a short hotel for a long time. In fact, this hotel left most of the space to the room, I have no public idea to write, no breakfast, can not share the relevant experience. But its charm is that the room is very effective, and the design is so strong that my future home wants to fully emulate the spatial design of this room type. Come here, I highly recommend booking a 36-meter riverside room, especially when you can see the cherry blossoms of Takashimawa during the cherry blossom season. Every day when I go back to the hotel, I can walk along the Takashimawa Canal. There are many restaurants and bars around, so that the five-day experience is very happy. This time, the friends who live in other hotels are noisy. I will change this room next time I go to Kyoto. The hotel is very comfortable, clean and the aesthetic is very nice with a beautiful entrance and Japanese style rooms. The onsen is also lovely, a decent size and great to relax in after a day of walking around Kyoto. The basic room has everything you need although they are quite small. If you are travelling with large suitcases they will take up most of the spare space in the room. In terms of location the hotel is about 10min walk from the main station and 8min from the closest metro stop. There is a fantastic ramen shop on the same street which gets long queues but is definitely worth the wait. There is a ‘tourism tax’ which you have to pay upon arrival - about 7€ per person. Overall the hotel was very nice and I would recommend staying there.
