The room is not well maintained, and many parts of the roof and walls are black. The hotel is in an inconvenient location, far from shopping areas The room has no windows

It's very nice and the price is right. You don't need to get out of bed to eat breakfast directly. The service attitude is also very good. The attitude of the front desk is also very good and friendly. The hotel room is also very high-end. It looks like it wants to make people look after the elderly. It feels very comfortable. There is a tablet in front of the bed to control the air conditioning and lighting. There is a mobile phone and audio system for playing music. The bathtub is also very large. It’s easy to soak in the bath alone while listening to a ditty!

Amazing

The details are full, the breakfast is very good, and the service staff are very enthusiastic and patient. Helped me solve a lot of troubles. Including but not limited to car calling and meal ordering. The location is different from the area near the scenic spot where I used to live. The downstairs is very quiet. The ramen shops, yakiniku shops, and coffee shops that I can find in many small shops nearby are all delicious. I feel that I have penetrated into the living area of Kyoto.

There are certain highlights, such as avant-garde design, B&O audio, Dyson hair dryer, etc. But the general cleanliness and some details of the design are not entirely reassuring. I think there are better options at this price point.

Likes - nice property with great/helpful staff; calm and tranquil atmosphere. Dislikes - while not a dislike per se, we did not realize that the hotel is windowless (although the room design was as such that there was a window like effect).

We loved the room, super big and comfy, amenities were amazing. We had mixed feelings with the staff some were friendly and others not at all. We didn’t like the breakfast, the idea is beautiful but needs better execution, the food was cold and very limited.

the room's curtain does not block much light that comes into the room from the window, resulting in the room being mostly lit when you sleep. this apparently happens with every room in the hotel, as i checked with the front desk. also the bed is extremely hard, and this also happens with every room in the hotel. with the room being ~$300/night during winter time, this is not worth the money at all. the design is kind of nice, but you can get that in other hotels that cost half as much. also, they don't have a restaurant area, so you're forced to eat inside your room. which was a bit awkward. stay somewhere else!

Aesthetically pleasing. Excellent staff. Lovely, spacious, rooms. Subway nearby and easy to locate taxis on nearby spacious avenue. Proximity to excellent vegan/French bakery. Easy access to convenience stores/ATM. Comforters are, perhaps, too effective given absence of arctic temperatures.

This might be the most beautiful and perfect place I’ve ever stayed, anywhere. It is incredible. The design is impeccable and represented the Japanese culture perfectly. The staff was incredible. I wanted to stay forever. Everywhere else I stayed in Japan was also very nice, but but none of them were even in the same league. Bravo Mogana.

This is a sublime boutique hotel experience and made our time in Kyoto that much more enjoyable. Every detail in the hotel counts and is part of the experience. Such a calming place to stay. I can't recommend the place more.

First time back in Japan in almost three years. Decided to stay at very modern, high design, Mogana this time because of all the positive reviews. The location is not as convenient as some other hotels but it gave me a chance to see a less tourist filled side of Kyoto with lots of side alleys that made the whole experience more of a discovery. I arrived by taxi after the Haruka express from Kansai airport and check in was quick and efficient. The room looked exactly as it does in photos: Minimalist glass pod. Onsen style black granite bathtub. Lighting is a bit too fluorescent for me, for a hotel room (room 602) the lighting used should be more warm (I had to filter photos for my photo album). Aircon was also a bit loud at night. Otherwise I was quite happy with Mogana, especially liked the rock garden outside with the courtyard plants wall that allowed a peak at the sky, the frosted glass in front of the bed allowed in muted sunlight, all very clever, modern yet Japanese aesthetics.
