Kunming Guandu District Hotels

The room itself was excellent – clean, tidy, and definitely felt like a mid-to-high-end property. We were pleasantly surprised with two unique flower cakes upon check-in, which was a lovely touch. Overall, it offered great value for money. Service: However, the front desk service was extremely disappointing. As a frequent business traveler, I'm used to staying in hotels, and the contrast here was stark. There were two women and one man on duty. Their communication during check-in was stiff and rigid. While one woman was processing our request, the other two were chatting and laughing loudly amongst themselves, completely ignoring us. Such unprofessional front desk staff truly do not live up to the hotel's otherwise high standards and pleasant environment.

This is one of the best hotels I've stayed at this year. There's a night market right next door, but the double-glazed windows completely block out any noise when closed. The front desk even provided soundproof earplugs, though I didn't end up needing them. There's also a coffee shop on the ground floor, and we got a 'buy one get one free' deal upon check-in, which was a lovely bonus. My friend and I each enjoyed a cup. All the hotel staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!

I am grateful to the hotel for reserving such a fabulous room (Room 8806) for me. I can see the beautiful airport terminal building and aircraft taking off for the sky. The hotel restaturant is a tourist attraction. It has meaningful arts on the walls. Its complimentary healthy breakfast that starts at 5 am now includes continental American breakfast and the jam used is crushed blueberry jam in cubes, unlike butter cubes used in other hotels. The hotel cautions the public on scams in China to avoid through its lift. After check-out, I forgot to take my passport. I thank the receptionist for allowing me to go up to the room to retrieve my passport so that I can depart for Jinan on time on 14 September 2025. I will stay here for plane-spotting in Kunming again if there are new Chinese airliners operating flights to the airport.

Great location! 30min from the airport, 600m to the train station. Once you find the building (6) and the correct level (20) the desk clerk is friendly and accommodating. He was very welcoming and saw that we had 2 kids and offered us a free upgrade to a 3 double bed room that was available. The room is very clean and modern. Water pressure is great and all the available amenities, toothbrushes, hairbrush etc The streets below have plenty of skewer shops and local foods and many convenience stores. Highly recommended for those who’s traveling locally and by train.

Is our first time and Kunming and we will be staying for a night before heading out to Dali. booked this hotel which is walking distance to the Kunming station. location is prime to access to ancient town and railway station. the hotel is clean and very comfortable. no mentioning the service during check, the staff was polite and share with us on location we can walked to and explored around. we didnt use any of the facilities around the hotel so cannot give much review on this. if you want somewhere walking distance to railway station, i will strongly recommend this hotel!

My stay this time was extremely satisfying! The hotel staff had an excellent service attitude, always greeting guests with a kind smile. The hotel's location is also very convenient, with easy access to transportation, making getting around a breeze! The rooms were cleaned promptly, and the staff were all very professional. The beds were comfortable, the amenities thoughtful, and the service meticulous and attentive. It's definitely the top choice for travelers! There were plenty of parking spaces available, and parking was free. The front desk service was attentive, and the rooms had large French windows. The makeup mirror even came with lighting. The location is convenient, with many dining options nearby. Transportation is also very accessible. The hotel staff were very thoughtful. Since I arrived at the hotel too early and my room wasn't ready, a front desk attendant warmly offered me delicious coffee while I waited in the lobby and patiently answered my questions! Highly, highly, highly recommend!!!!

The hotel is conveniently located very close to both the train station and high-speed rail station, offering easy access to dining, shopping, and public transport. This makes it ideal for business trips or a convenient stopover. The front desk staff were friendly, handled check-in efficiently, and provided attentive, thoughtful service, even accommodating personalized requests. The rooms were spotlessly clean, featuring comfortable beds and all essential amenities. They were also spacious and bright, with plenty of natural light.

Hygiene: The hotel is brand new, spotlessly clean, and free from any unpleasant odors. Environment: The view from our window was superb, overlooking distant fields and villages. The morning breeze was wonderfully cool and refreshing. We even heard the neighbor's geese, which added a unique, charming touch to the atmosphere. Facilities: Laundry facilities are available, including a washing machine and dryer. Service: The service was outstanding! They provide 24-hour airport pick-up, and during the day, a shuttle runs hourly to both the airport and the subway station.

This is hands down the most comfortable hotel I've stayed at during my trip to Kunming. It was my first time staying at a Howard Johnson, and I was very impressed. The room was spotless, the smart features made the stay incredibly comfortable, and it was well-equipped. The young lady at the front desk, whose WeChat name was 'Energetic Little Chubby Girl', was incredibly warm and helpful. She proactively added me on WeChat and sent over some fantastic local travel and food guides – big thumbs up for that! The hotel's location is excellent, right near a subway station. It's also very close to the Wild Mushroom Market and Shuangqiao Night Market. The Provincial Museum is just a short taxi ride away too. I'll definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Kunming.

The hotel is a short walk from the Tangzixiang Metro Station. Jinbi Square is about 25 minutes walk away (there is no convenient public transport connection as it requires a long walk on both ends). Room is clean enough but the common areas could be cleaner. Bed is okay, good enough for a night’s rest. However, sound insulation is very poor, and you can hear the street noise and sounds from the other rooms. The plugs are not internationally compatible so you’ll need an adapter. Entrance is via a pedestrian sidewalk so you’ll need to get your car from the main road.
