reached kunmingnan train station at near midnight. walked 25mins from west plaza exit to reach hostel. smooth check in by leaving a msg abt my arrival time. offered free bf served at 9am. cleaning lady at 8.30am. continuing on my train journey ard yunnan.

I had such a cozy and lovely stay! A comfy bed, a spotless bathroom, and everything I needed just around the corner. The hostel is full of sweet cats (major bonus!), and the host was a gem—super kind and helped me organize my next bus ride with care.

I arrived late and was helped by a friendly man in the reception. The hostel is close to the train station, which was important as I was leaving with an early train. Got a small breakfast to pack with me the next day (included). Fun to sleep in a pod and I slept well, the shower had both shampoo and conditioner, so happy with the amenities. However, the girls room smelled like urin, I couldn’t understand where it came from because it was not from my sheets, the smell was not inside the pod luckily, but somewhere in the room. I might have just been unlucky with the timing, arriving so late as well.

Very clean all around the hostel, in the girls dorm private bathroom, and especially in my capsule.
Upon arrival, owner gave me a breakfast pack and a bottle of water for my early train journey the next day, which was very kind.
The room had lockers, common table and chairs. In the capsule, the pillow was more comfortable than my own pillow back home. An adjustable fan is available in the capsule which made sleeping very comfortable during summer. More charging sockets would be appreciated. Toothbrush and disposable slippers were provided in the capsule too.
The girls dorm private bathroom had towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap provided. Everything was fully stocked including hairdryer, hand soap, cups at the sink area.
In the common areas outside the room, I didn't have time to explore but there's hot water available, and instant noodles, drinks and snacks that can be purchased.
Location is walkable to train station but it takes some time, hence I called take a Didi taxi for 9.9 yuan.
Highly recommended, not just for the budget traveller, but for the hospitable experience. I'll return again when I visit Kunming next.

Such a cool place! Capsule beds are so much fun. There is a lot of space inside. You can completely close yourself in, play with different light colours, adjust fan, light for reading, mirror light, general inside light. You have two small shelves for things you need in close reach (like glasses in my case).
Hostel is close (China type of „close”) to Kunming South station from where you might have next train. It’s easy to find it, if you arrive by metro you will see train station on one side and the hostel is down the road on the other.
Owner is amazing, really kind. I have arrived before reception hours and he noticed me standing outside, let me in and even let me check in right away. So, while the reception is from 8 and check in from 14, I was already in my bed at 7.55. It allowed much needed time to rest after overnight train which arrived at 5 AM in the city. I could take a nap, shower and then start day afresh!
Nearby the are 2 restaurants and few street vendors. I got dinner cheaper then in the city center, and food in Kunming is already cheap!

Stayed a night in the double home cinema room. Confortable bed, clean, in a very quiet neighbourhood, tucked away from the road. There are nice little local restaurant in the village next door. The hostel is walking distance from the Kunming South train station, I’d recommend staying here if you have a train early in the morning. Only issue could have been the fact that the walls I think and that we could here guests playing pool next door. But the noise stopped at around 10 P.M. so it was alright. The WC and the shower in the room have a door but it’s not totally closed (a bit like some public toilets), can be disturbing if not travelling alone. They gave us our breakfast to go as we were leaving at 6 A.M. Very good value for money in August 2025 (paid a 177 RMB for one night), would definitely stay again

Great hosts. Host picked me up from train station late at night. Great coffee. Hot shower. Far from city centre but great for being closer to stone forest and train station.
