I've booked using Visa to ensure the room is secured for 6-8 March, 2020. Prior my arrival, I am in constant contact with Oyo and Booking dot com via messaging and Whatssap. Later, I also enquired about the possibility of early check in - but no proper response was given. I was back to accept a wedding invitation of one of the closest Kelantan Royalty which will be held on the 6th 3.00 pm at Masjid Ismailli (Sultan Muhammad V mosque in Pasir Pekan) and in Kota Bharu for the official ceremony the next day. I reached the location around 11.30 a.m. but was not able to check in except for 2.00 pm onwards. It is not possible for us to check in at 2.00 and be properly ready to attend the 1st day of the royal wedding at 3.00 p.m. I inquired about my prior messaging but it neither not found nor properly responded. While I have been reminded on ”cash deposit”, unlike any other Oyo-based hotels I've stayed before, despite my booking is secured by Visa - was surprised to find out that I can't use Visa to pay for my room. My family and I were very exhausted due to long less stoppable journey from Kuala Lumpur to Kelantan. It is very inconvenient as a Muslim; despite the status as a traveler (musafir) to roam around Kota Bharu during Friday prayers. The staff did promise that he will try his best to get me a room as soon as possible (which he did). We had no choice but to go somewhere discreet - ended up in Pizza Hut Kota Bharu to wait not only for the Friday prayers to end but also to rush to get cash from ATM. I complained profusely via Booking dot Com messaging and in less than but 1/2 hour, I was called by the staff to inform me that the room is ready around 12.30 Delighted, we rushed to check in. At the reception, I was told to ensure to pay for my parking the next two days (where Saturday/Sunday are working days in Kelantan) in front of the hotel using vending machine to avoid tickets or worse - locking of tyres by Kota Bharu Municipal Council. The room was ok - ample for the family. The television was not working properly but the maintenance boys were quick to fix the problem upon complaint. Later, having attended the first part of the royal function, we found out that the washroom's floor water trap was clogged and there was dirty and smelly water flooding everywhere on the floor. The sink's piping was modified/directed towards the floor trap instead of the internal wet-walls to the drainage which made things worse. (I suspect the drain for sink water was also clogged) The first day was really a total disaster. We did not have proper bathing and had to use the toilet/washroom near the reception Early morning on the 2nd day, I started to lodge complaints and luckily, we were given a new room which is so much better than the first. I should compliment the staff working on the 7th of March, 2020. There is no breakfast included in the package.
