Hotel Yamabuki

This was my first time staying here. It was a Japanese-style room for six people! The staff were very kind and welcoming. The large public bath was neither good nor bad. Breakfast was served in a private room with a hearth.

Two weeks ago, I stayed at Futari Shizu, which is also in Hayataro Onsen. I thought I would compare two nearby inns with similar reputations, staying two weeks apart. I stayed at the same plan and room type, and stayed on the same day of the week. The service is similar, but not as relentlessly attentive as at Futari Shizu. The clientele is not as concentrated on elderly customers as at Futari Shizu, but seems to be of all ages, but the number of guests is less than half that of Shizu, perhaps due to the size of the hotel. The baths are similar, but the temperature of the water at Yamabuki is better, and you can take a bath in the indoor bath even late at night (of course, if your room has a hot spring, you can take a bath anytime). The overall renovation at Yamabuki is a little inferior, but I'm grateful that you can sleep on a normal bed instead of a wooden bed like at Futari Shizu. Now, about the food. At Yamabuki, all the dishes were easy to eat, the salt concentration was uniform, and I felt it was elegant. Yamabuki won by a landslide. Given how different the food is, if I had to choose again I would go for Yamabuki.

I went to Nagano in August to escape the heat. Stayed here for one night at the end of the trip. The location right after getting off the Komagane Interchange is easy to access, but there is no sense of secluded land. Driving in unfamiliar terrain can be tiring. In that sense, the location right next to the interchange was a blessing for us. I was happy to see the mountains of the Central Alps from my room. The meals, which used a lot of local ingredients, were a sight to behold. The response from the staff, including the proprietress, was warm. As for the bath, the open-air bath was not good enough to enjoy the view. It can be said that it is an inn that can be recommended for those who use mountain climbing and ropeway.

We stayed here for the purpose of climbing Mt. Kisokomagatake. Due to the weather, I had to consult with them about adjusting the schedule several times. All the staff members were kind and helpful. The bathroom was clean and I liked the temperature of the water. All meals were delicious in a private room. I once again learned the deliciousness of Shinshu miso. Among the inns I've stayed at so far, the customer service and food were number one. I would definitely like to hear from you again.
