We have been coming to the Pimalai for 20 years and it never fails to deliver. We were lucky enough to spend 15 days at the resort this time, and it just seems to get better and better. Its hard to put your finger in what makes The Pimalai so unique. It has a genuine rustic Thai charm, combined with the efficiency of a well run Western hotel. The balance is perfect and never disappoints. It could be the stunning beach, the tranquil setting, the crystal clear waters, the fantastic food or the delicious cocktails at happy hour that make it so amazing, but I think it’s actually the incredible staff that really make you feel like you are one of the family, that really sets this place apart. The staff can not do enough for you. Even the gardeners (who work tirelessly to keep the grounds looking beautiful) stop to say hello when you walk past. There has been a change of guard since last year. The lovely French Manager Franck has handed over to the equally charming new French manager Brice. The transition has been seamless and the hotel is in safe hands. We managed to do a few things this time that we’ve never done before. I did a wonderful Thai cooking class with the head chef. What an experience. One I’d recommend to anyone. We also did a sunset snorkelling trip to Koh Ha. This was spectacular. The fish we saw were incredible, an the guys on the boat were so helpful. Then followed by a sunset cruise back to the hotel. Just WOW!! As always the food in the restaurants was delicious. I get the feeling that it’s only going to get better with the new food and beverage manager putting his mark on the menus. As always, we didn’t want to leave, and we can’t wait to get back.

Finally got a chance to stay for a couple of days, prices have been slashed and two nights including breakfast was less than a single night in low season before Covid. We had the first day all to ourselves, no other guests, drawback is that no restaurant open for anything other than breakfast. Room was beachside and showing its age a little but clean and everything working. Be prepared to exercise if you have beachside room, the walk to anywhere is uphill and I do mean uphill, gives you exercise before you get to the pool. Overall very good, not five star but excellent value.

The taste is average. You need to charge 10% service charge and 7% tax; more than 500 baht. - Facilities: The only downside is that there is no elevator; but this sea view is really too great, very quiet and very comfortable; - Note: Because the hotel is backed by mountains in the south, many monkeys will grab your food and even arrogantly steal clothes. Fortunately, monkeys are afraid that people can drive away.

The most expensive room type in this hotel is unique on the same beach. In addition, even if you have a normal room type, you can enjoy the beautiful public pool. However, what does not match its expensive price is its service. In addition to the proprietress, other employees, including the hotel front desk and restaurant waiters, cannot communicate normally in English, resulting in many inconveniences in the check-in process. No matter what room type, even the villa pool room for four thousand one nights does not have any welcome fruit, or any other value-added services and small items to give you the feeling of ”VIP”. The cleaning service of the room is very untimely, and it is always embarrassing to clean when the guests are there! And the cleaning is sloppy, the table is not cleaned... In addition, the breakfast buffet is mainly for Westerners' bread and eggs, but there is no cheese, no cold cut meat, even jam, yogurt has a taste, I have seen other foreign customers disappointed eyes. When we asked if there was an Asian breakfast, the waiter told us: Sorry, no! Well...the constant breakfast for four days was a bit boring, and on the last day we had very stale bread...there was no freshly squeezed juice on the drink side, but fortunately the freshly ground coffee in the hotel was really good. In addition, although there is an employee on duty in the pool bar, the cocktail he made is really good, especially the taste recommended by the boss mango daiquira is amazing, which is better than the first five-star hotel on the island we went to later. Everyone must try it. In short, we still had a wonderful holiday in the hotel. After all, the mentality is very important when traveling. Every time I think about the price we paid, I feel that it is not worth it...

The hotel is very beautiful, and I also saw a super beautiful sunset. I highly recommend this vacation. It is very quiet. There is also a horse and chicken to enjoy in the hotel. The hotel swimming pool is also very clean and hygienic.

We had a lovely 5 night stay at Lanta Ray Bay. Everything about this place is as it should be - friendly and professional service, decent rooms with comfortable beds and the location is just perfect - a minute walk from beautiful, family friendly beach, numerous restaurants, great coffee shops, bars etc. Very convenient for exploring the island but also quiet and peaceful at the same time. Nam, who owns the hotel, runs it very well and is available at reception most of the time. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she helped us organise local trips, car rental and airport transfer (including a car child seat for our 3yo daughter which we didn’t even have to ask for). Breakfast offering is simple but tasty. All in all, Lanta Ray Bay is great value for money and we will be definitely staying there again when we visit Ko Lanta in the future.
