Everything here was wonderful -- the room was remarkably warm for the weather (about 0-3 degrees celsius when I was there), but the warmest of all was the lovely sister Deniz, who gave me a welcome that would thaw a winter. I arrived close to 10pm, and she gave me a generous hug, along with bread and jam and cheese.
My room was spacious, the bathroom almost absurdly large, and the bed so comfortable... I slept so well every evening. Sister Deniz also set out a wonderful breakfast spread, with the enthusiastic company of the dogs she has rescued. She is doing many wonderful things for both people and animals in her community, and her home is so lovely -- please stay here if you go to Kars! You don't even have to plan anything -- Deniz helped me arrange everything with a driver to see the Ani ruins and Lake Çıldır for a very reasonable price. Don't contact other guides!
I wish I'd taken photos of the house, but please see the photos of things that are nearby -- Kars Castle and cafes are all within 10 minutes' walking distance, and the airport can be reached within 15-20 minutes by car. I loved every moment of my time here, and recommend this to anyone interested in going to Kars!

Deniz Hanım, çok güler yüzlü, her şeyimizle tam ilgilendi. 😊 Çok güzel köpekleri var bahçesinde. 🐶 Köpeklerden rahatsız olmuyorsanız, sessiz ve rahat bir ortamı var. En güzeli de, ev o kadar serin ki; yazın ortasında çok rahat ettik. Evin serin olmasına göre kıyafet getirin. Özel banyolu odası var, biz orada kaldık. Kulanım alınında ortak mutfağı var. Odaların tek eksisi, giysi dolabı yok. Bunun dışında her şey çok güzeldi. Rahatlıkla ve güvenle kalabilirsiniz. Ayrıca şehir merkezinde olduğu için de her yere yakın. 🌸

We loved Deniz and her many dogs. She is a wonderful host, so caring and eager to help. Her property is unique and very comfortable. You really feel like you are a treasured guest in her home. Deniz is always available to help and answer questions. She will arrange transportation to nearby sights as well. The breakfast is great too. Everything cooked to order.

Deniz is such a genuinely kind and wonderful person who went well out of her way to make sure we had a great visit. It was a treat staying with her, just like staying in the home of a beloved relative. Her home is very clean, quiet, comfortable, and lovingly maintained. We loved chatting with Deniz and meeting her sweet dogs. Will have to be back!

The guesthouse of Deniz is a vary unique and authentic place. Best accomondation we had on our trip through turkey. Deniz is very very nice and helped us a lot. :)

Deniz is a wonderful person and the house is a very pleasant place to be.
The surrounding area is a mess, but it is really in the center of the city. I can't understand how a city could let this happen, but it is what it is.
It isn't cheap compared to some hotels in the area, but for me it was worth it.

It is a quiet alley in the middle of town. You can walk anywhere. Deniz was very friendly and helpful. She has some very friendly dogs and we spent time with them. Unique property.

A blue home in Kars
My stay at Mavi Ladin Konukevi was a wonderful experience! Deniz, the host, was always very friendly, helpful and supportive. She’s a woman with a big heart, who loves nature and takes care of dogs and cats. And she prepares great organic breakfasts! I got to know some of her lovely friends, and we spent a great time in her garden all together. She arranged for me a visit to Ani and Cildir Lake, and a taxi to Dogubayazit, and everything was perfect.
Mavi Ladin Konukevi is perfectly located in a quiet street in Kars, and cleanliness is excellent. I heartily recommend Deniz’s place. I will definitely come back!

A small traditional home tucked up a side sokat just a few minutes walk from the old town. 3 rooms, one en-suite. Friendly, tidy, clean. Breakfast with fresh eggs from chickens in the owner's garden. Plenty of good restaurants close by - beer and wine sold opposite the excellent Dusler Balik (fish) Evi. Two huge and happy Anatolian sheepdogs guard the front door. Reliable taxi driver to take you to Ani on a half-day trip, and to the otogar or station. Kars is well off the Türkiye tourist scene, but absolutely worth the journey. The comfortable a/c sleeper train ride from Ankara is spectacularly scenic.
