**Extremely Disappointing Stay at Randolee Hotel, Kandy** Our recent stay at Randolee Hotel in Kandy was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment we arrived, things started going wrong. The hotel wasn’t clearly marked on Google Maps, and the alternative route they gave us led us to the back entrance, making it difficult for our van to access the hotel. Despite specifically requesting four rooms with a view on the same floor, we were given two rooms together per floor, with the other two rooms located on separate floors. This completely disrupted our plans and was inconvenient for our group. We were also excited about the advertised recreational facilities, including badminton, but were told they didn’t have functional rackets or shuttlecocks. The gym was in terrible condition, with rusted and poorly maintained equipment. The overall state of the facilities was disappointing, with many being either inoperable or poorly ventilated. The only thing that was usable was the swimming pool. The dining experience was a major letdown, especially considering we paid for a special Christmas dinner. The food was subpar, to say the least. We had specifically requested that pork and lamb be kept separate due to halal requirements, but it was clear that the chefs ignored this request by mixing the cutlery and cooking the meat on the same grill. The Christmas dinner, which we had eagerly anticipated, was awful — the roast turkey, beef, and fish were cold, likely due to poor temperature regulation. The food was bland, unappetizing, and definitely not what we expected for a holiday meal. Breakfast was equally bad. The fruits were stale, and there were no live cooking stations like hoppers or any other Sri Lankan specialties. The only options available were eggs and omelettes, which were underwhelming and disappointing for a hotel of this supposed caliber. The room quality also left much to be desired. The mattresses were extremely hard and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The beds were creaky, which was another added discomfort. The furniture was small and poorly designed, not even close to European standards. It was difficult to store our clothes in the cupboards, as they didn’t have enough space for all our belongings. Additionally, every single room had a dysfunctional bathroom ventilator. This meant that the bathrooms were constantly damp and poorly ventilated, adding to the discomfort. On the first night, the air conditioning in my room was unbearably loud, and we had no choice but to sleep with only a fan. This made the room unbearably hot and uncomfortable. The following day, we called ahead and requested the rooms be cleaned and beds turned while we were out, but we returned to find the rooms untouched. To add to the list of problems, one of the bathrooms had a broken ventilator, which meant even more moisture and discomfort. To sum it up, Randolee Hotel in Kandy failed on nearly every front. The hotel is located on the hills of Kandy, about a 20-minute tuktuk ride from the train station. The entrance area, lobby, restaurant and outdoor area with pool are well maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The view over Kandy and the surrounding mountains is magnificent. You can enjoy the sunset from the infinity pool. The breakfast is very tasty with local and intercontinental dishes. We were treated very politely at all times and our requests were fulfilled quickly. The hotel also offers a good laundry service. Some of the furnishings are old and a bit broken - the sun loungers by the pool soon fall apart. The playground looks terrible. The bathroom in the double rooms is old and doesn't look well maintained. Our bathrooms did not have a shower cubicle but a bathtub with a shower curtain. On the 1st floor, garden workers look over the balcony into our room. The double room with garden view is dark and cramped. The double room with mountain view is spacious, bright and well maintained. The bathroom is in the same condition as in the double room with garden view. Price-performance ratio is definitely top, if you don't expect a first class hotel. You get a hotel with a first-class view, fantastic service, great staff and good food.

What an amazing place! The view and the service was incredible. The staff is fantastic and always ready to help, they made our stay at Kandy so wonderful and special. Loved the food especially the srilankan breakfast- it’s a must try. Mr. Hemal has been a great host and Sandali was such a sweet person and always greeted us with a warm smile. Kudos to the chef Kusal for the delicious food 🙌🏼 plus they have a gym which is always a plus point!!

this was a very bad experience, the staff was unbothered to help you , the rooms were dirty and the AC didn’t work i changed rooms twice still same issues , and when you try to contact the front desk they will not answer. the only thing is good about this hotel was the view

We went to Randholee Resort & Spa during the last weekend, making a reservation for 2 nights /3 days and ended up staying one more / extra day as we were so amused by the service provided by the staff. To start with, we were travelling with our son of two and half years of age for the first time to the hill country and we were very particular on the view of the room, security features, etc … Sandamali from the Reservations was so helpful at the point of reservation, to clear our doubts and to ensure all been promised were delivered when we were there. The view was breathtaking which we really enjoyed and the room and the facilities were nice and clean. The restaurant staff were very prompt and attentive. My son never felt that he was with strangers as they made the environment so homely. The friendly service provided by Ruwan , Kusal and Thushara were commendable. The way they helped us with our kids food and our specific requirements made us very comfortable and relaxed. The buffet was not a massive spread , but was sufficient and yummy. The holiday was a much-needed break from our usual busy life followed by my birthday and our wedding anniversary. We are so glad that we selected Randholee a location associated with Ancient History to spend our time off in such a memorable way.
