Fitzhugh House Guest Accommodation

These people decided to charge us $100 AFTER we left for having 2 small children, and claiming that they "emailed us." Tiny room, no vent in the bathroom. The temp was 90 degrees Fahrenheit and there is no air conditioning. The bed was tiny, less than a full. Shady practice. Would not use these people.

What we liked: - Very clean. - Very quiet. - Acceptable beds. What we didn't like: - It is not B&B because there is no breakfast offered, but it does not seem to be advertised to be. - There is no AC in the room, but because the rooms are in the basement, it was not very hot, just acceptably hot. - There is no active ventilation in the bathroom. This was the worst. - There is no outside area, where one can seat to enjoy the evening. - There is only one chair in the room.

The house is quiet and well appointed. Unfortunately there isn’t any air conditioning and it was very warm while we were there. We understand that they aren’t used to those kinds of temps though, so we dealt with it as best we could. The biggest disappointment was finding an extra charge from them on our credit card statement. When I called to inquire as to why, I was informed that it’s an adult-only place and we didn’t mention children. While it’s true that we didn’t (because at any place we’ve ever stayed children are free), there isn’t anywhere I’ve seen online that mentions they’re adult-only. In fact, the description on Google specifically says kid-friendly. We weren’t given any advance notice of an extra charge either. I guess I’d just beware and make sure to read everything before booking with them. Definitely not a nice way to end our trip.
