There has been confirmation that HI Jasper has been destroyed by wildfire that burned through Jasper National Park in July 2024. Forest fires are still burning at the moment and other hostels in the area are at risk. Much gratitude to the firefighters and first responders.

The Staff is not well trained. Issues are not taken serious. The A/C for each room can not be turned off. The Laundry maschines are dirty. Furthermore, the Building is very hot and windows in the Room can not be opened properly. All in all, it is very expensive and not worth the money. 1200 CAD for 4 Beds, 3 Nights is a fraud.

I've stayed at this hostel before and had a good experience then, but this time was not good. I am a very heavy sleeper. I regularly sleep through alarms, people, going to sleep with lights on etc, so hostels are not a problem for me generally. But the trains here were simply so loud I was woken up 3 or 4 times in the night from the squealing breaks. I will stay somewhere else next time. The reason this is the hostels fault is that it’s so hot in the rooms you have to open the window. It was 2 degrees outside, but probably closer to 30 in the room. This lets all the noise in. The fan in the room doesn’t do anything if you’re the furthest bed away from it and on the top. They really need to rethink their cooling system, because it’s just not a good environment as it is now.

This hostel is the go to for our annual friends trip. The rooms are clean and beds fairly comfy. The cafe has great lattes and breakfast sandwiches. This time we played pool and also participated in the weekly Sunday Sip and Paint event…lots of fun…and is free! It’s a less than 5 minute walk to Connaught Drive so close to shops and restaurants.

This was a very expensive and disappointing hostel experience. We opted for a private room because we thought that this would be a cleaner and more comfortable option. The floor had not been cleaned in a while and the shower had pink mildew growing in it. At check out, guests are asked to remove towels, sheets and duvet cover from the room and place in laundry. Upon removing the duvet cover, the duvet filler was stained with blood. No thank you, we will not be back.

Friendly staff, nice open communal spaces and a short walk from town. Train isn’t really that disruptive although could be if you’re a light sleeper, we just wore ear plugs and heard nothing. Had a family room with private bathroom for about 400 Canadian dollars, or 240 GBP, which felt a bit steep for one night in a hostel.

This is a new building with a lot of facilities in a good location near to the centre of Jasper and it even offers double rooms. However the building design means the bedrooms suffer terribly from overheating. In Jasper, it was not so hot (max 26C) and at night time the outside temperature drops to 14C but the bedrooms remain sweltering. It does not cool down properly even with the window open and a fan on all day. Having to leave the window open makes the room very noisy: a huge ventilation unit on the first night which was not acceptable. We asked to move and got an alternate room but it was still very hot so now we had the train noises to contend with, the Jasper train yard next to Hostel is very noisy!

Had a family room with private bathroom on the second floor. Short walk into town, friendly staff who checked our bags 5 hours early so we didn’t have to lug them around with us. Communal spaces clean and well equipped and the noise from the railway wasn’t a big deal. We slept with the windows open and used ear plugs. At end of the day it’s a hostel so it’s not going to be luxurious and only negative for us was that it felt quite pricey for what it was. Best part of 400 Canadian dollars or 300 GBP felt a bit too much for the offer.

Front staff were nice. But one person in my room stank so bad that I felt like vomiting so I sat downstairs. The management yelled at me, told me I must go to my room or leave. It is now 3:25 am and I don’t know what to do. Didn’t sleep a wink and can’t handle the stench. Not to mention the guy below me’s snoring is shaking the entire room. It’s disgusting what we pay for this. And the abusive treatment of the management just adds to it all.
