"I could easily have spent another night here just to spend at the hotel! The outdoor bath is wonderful and the location is great for exploring Hatone. There’s a shop inside for souvenirs, free snacks and drinks (at quite specific times of day!) and Japanese-style rooms and clothes. I regret not spending more time soaking, checking out the spa and trying out the matcha set in our room!"

"Dear Hotel Team, I did not want to make these points of criticism public and therefore sent you an email on September 16, 2025. Since I have not received any response by October 1, 2025, I am now publishing my points of criticism. Thank you very much for hosting us from September 14 to 16 2025. Your service is so attentive and friendly - it was consistently perfect. Unfortunately, we experienced many shortcomings that I would like to point out to you. The room, unfortunately, was not clean. The sink siphon is yellow, and the bathtub on the balcony is full of residue from the thermal water. We found hair everywhere: on the floor, the bed, and the couch. I would expect a different hygiene standard in a 5-star hotel. The bed linen seemed old and had frayed edges and loose threads sticking out. It did not feel inviting to sleep in. On the terrace, the hanging chair had a hole that looked like it was caused by a cigarette. The wooden surfaces in the room showed a lot of wear and damage in many areas. Simply touching them up with a suitable marker or paint would already make them look newer and more high-quality. At the buffet, the water glasses were unfortunately very small. In the summer heat, I had to fetch four rounds of two glasses each at dinner to stay sufficiently hydrated. At the first breakfast, I got a cappuccino from the coffee machine. No milk came out, even though a staff member had just refilled it, and the remaining coffee tasted strongly of cleaning agent. The taste lingered in my mouth until the evening. I only took one sip and didn’t want to drink any more. On the first night, I was woken up by irregular beeping in the room. After a long search, I identified the safe as the source. The safe was irregularly entering codes on its own without any input. I tried to open it with my PIN - since our laptops were locked inside - but I couldn’t open it anymore. The error HOLD03 appeared, so I wanted to wait the three minutes for a new PIN entry. In the meantime, the safe entered codes again by itself and reactivated the HOLD03 timer. Luckily, I found a three-minute phase when the safe didn’t make an input on its own, and I was able to open it with my PIN. Out of lack of trust, I didn’t lock the laptops in the safe again. I kindly ask you to have the safe serviced and the defect repaired. Because of this, I unfortunately slept poorly and with the hygiene issues and the problems at the buffet, the overall stay was not enjoyable. A single problem would not make the stay worse, but the accumulation of issues put us off and does not correspond to a 5-star hotel charging ¥80,000 per night for a simple double room. I hope my feedback helps you and wish that you can resolve the problems easily and cost-effectively. Your service is on such a high level, and we truly appreciate that. Best regards"

"The staff were all incredibly friendly, always greeting us, and even proactively offered to take our empty drink bottles to dispose of for us. Our room was spotlessly clean. During the day, it served as a comfortable living space with a table, and then promptly at 6 PM each evening, the staff would come to lay out the futons. The three of us slept comfortably on the futons laid out on the floor. Haha, it was a fantastic experience! The hotel's location is superb, right opposite Hakone-Yumoto Station and just across the bridge, making it incredibly convenient and a wonderful place to stay. If you turn left from the hotel, you'll find a row of shops and restaurants to explore, though do note they tend to close quite early. The hotel's food was also quite good. Breakfast is a buffet, but the selection remains largely the same each day, so it might get a bit repetitive if you're staying for an extended period. 😄 We also enjoyed some delicious sushi at the hotel one evening."

Hotel near Kowakidani/Miyanoshita,Hakone
A new journey begins in Gora, Hakone A five-minute walk on flat ground from Gora Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway, Hakone Yutowa is located in a rare location that can be accessed from the station on a flat road in the Gora area, which has many sloping areas. It is also conveniently located for those who do not own a car. There are also many tourist attractions in the surrounding area, such as Hakone Gora Park and the Hakone Open-Air Museum. Please enjoy Hakone Yutowa as your base. The name Hakone Yutowa combines "you" and "circle." In a warm and relaxed atmosphere that evokes the image of a "hot spring," you can spend time with your family, partner, or friends, around the fire, drinking together, and making plans for the next day. A variety of content and services will color the important moments of each customer's connections. This is the idea behind the establishment. "Naka-niwa" has a foot bath (hot spring) and a bonfire pit on the wooden deck, and the "library" has a collection of about 700 books. Guests can gather in the lounge and spend time relaxing in their favorite spot. Meals and drinks are "all-inclusive", so you can stay with ease. Not only the restaurant, but also the use of public spaces and drinks are free. You can enjoy yourself without worrying about additional fees. Do what you like, wherever you like, with friends, your partner, or family. It's a "freestyle hotel" where you can enjoy your time however you like.

"The service provided by the other female staff was excellent. Despite the language barrier, they were incredibly patient, repeatedly explaining the hotel's services and answering all our questions. Their friendly demeanor left us highly satisfied."

It is approximately a 5-minute drive from the nearest Kowakudani Station, with convenient access to tourist attractions such as the Yunesan hot spring theme park, Owakudani, and Lake Ashi. The ryokan features all Japanese-style rooms with tatami mats and a quiet atmosphere, with an irori (sunken hearth) in each room. Guests can relax in the natural hot springs, directly supplied from the source. Enjoy the seasonal beauty of nature while savoring exquisite Japanese cuisine made from local seasonal ingredients, and experience a peaceful and enjoyable time.

"The random hotel I booked was a complete success. Take the H line to Penglai Garden and it's just down the stairs. The hotel is small but beautiful. Meals are not provided, so breakfast is divided by room and you can take it back to your room. The room was spacious, Japanese-style, with maple trees outside the window. The hot springs were also amazing, rarely crowded on weekdays!"

The ultimate hospitality with only 10 rooms. All guest rooms are equipped with semi-open-air baths where you can enjoy free-flowing Owakudani hot spring water. From the rooms facing Mt. Fuji and the semi-open-air baths, on clear days you can enjoy magnificent views of the mountain, which will leave you sighing in awe. Our spacious rooms, including rooms overlooking the outer rim of the mountain and rooms overlooking the forest, offer a place of healing and relaxation where you can forget the hustle and bustle of the city. For dinner, we offer a course meal using Hakone Seiroku Wagyu beef. Guests can enjoy this rare and highly valued beef in its best condition. In addition, you can enjoy seasonal fish caught in Sagami Bay and Suruga Bay, as well as ingredients such as vegetables from the western foot of Hakone and western Shonan vegetables.

"We stayed here for my boyfriend's birthday. We asked about room decorations and cake, and the staff were very polite and went above and beyond our expectations. We had a wonderful time. The food was also delicious, and the bath in our room was very comfortable. The food and service were excellent, but even more than that, the staff's consideration and hospitality were warm and wonderful. I'm really glad we stayed here. I'd like to return and stay in a different room next time. Thank you very much."

Rest amid the region’s nature and art at our modern hideaway, where you can have your curiosity awakened, make new discoveries, and get a sense of what real, everyday Japan looks like outside its busy cities. Please check our important announcements before making a reservation. We have a complimentary shuttle bus between the hotel and Odawara Station and an on-request pick-up service between the Gora Station and the hotel. For details, feel free to ask.

"I love this hotel! From the moment we were ushered in from the shuttle coming via Odawara stn, the hotel felt very welcoming. Reception was a large open table that is not your typical hotel reception that feel too formal. we were first brought to the lower bar seating area where it’s comfy sofa seating. Check in took awhile as many guests were received from the hotel shuttle bus (25-30 seater). Staff always check in with us on the progress while we waited. Room came with private onsen though I hope it could have been the natural spring water instead of tap. Love the huge room size thats great for little kids to run around, met my standard of cleanliness as well. Breakfast adequate but not a huge spread which I find pricey at 3900 yen. Some bread, fried jap style fish, somen, cold appetisers, veg dips, fruits, around 6-8 hot dishes including omelette and poached eggs. Yet a lot of drink choices fr milk, soy, juices, teas, etc. we had the set dinner 18000 yen and 15000 yen as both of us had diff menus. Was a 3-4 course dinner, nothing out of this world and we didnt want the hassle of walking out to find food. This was one hotel we found many singaporeans (we are one too) as breakfast and dinnertime in resto is when we started noticing the accents. Nearby is a 7-11 nearby around 300m by foot if you feel peckish in middle of the night. Very pleasant stay, like that they provide mpv service to and fro gora station that would be most main boarding point to other attractions, mind that it runs till 6pm so any later you can take the Hakone Tozan bus which brings you to the pizza resto just a short 50m walk from hotel main road."

"Reception staff was excellent and courteous. Breakfast very limited and no variety. Had lot of difficulty in communication because of language barrier. Rooms looked tired and old in urgent need of renovation and upgrading. Toilet flush system didn’t work properly and sign posted as push the handle down hard. Shower control at ankle level and very old. How do the hotel expect guests to bend down to adjust the flow and temperature .  Room was not the worth money charged. Will not recommend to family or friends"

RRileypagesThe most satisfying hotel in this Hakone trip📸 The bus station is right at the door of the hotel There is also a Family Mart opposite the hotel, which is perfect for foodies Buying a lot of snacks every day, and having fun with my sisters every day When I get tired, I go to the hot springs. There is a complete set of toiletries in the room Bath towels, bathrobes, and slippers🩴 The hot springs are rotated by men and women every day. The scenery inside is more beautiful I feel relaxed all over my body when I take a hot spring every day♨️ My skin has improved a lot Recommended, I will come again next time🕹️

GGuest UserIf you have extra money, this could be a nice way to indulge. However, a word of warning. If you're arriving at Odawara train station, there's no way to get to the hotel except by the hotel shuttle. Taxis won't take you. And the hotel shuttle won't take you unless you've placed your name on the reservation list ahead of time. Nobody warned me about this. I'd read online that a connecting train takes you near the hotel, but this isn't true either. I arrived during a snow/ice storm and waited over 3 hours before I could get a ride to the hotel. The shuttle driver wouldn't let me on. I called the hotel front desk 3 or 4 times, but they weren't very helpful. I suppose this is the language barrier. They meant well. But regardless, if a shuttle reservation is the only way to access a remote mountain top hotel, it's pretty important to make sure your guests understand this. Once I did arrive, I have to admit the room was beautiful. The buffet dinner was fantastic but not included in the price of the room - a little disappointing, since the room is already so expensive. Lots of extra costs, so be careful. I received a really great massage in my room. The onsen hot spring was very nice, and free (included in room charge). Breakfast the next morning was also included in room charge. The hotel bar was closed, though. There wasn't much opportunity to socialize or meet people. I did check out the lake the next morning, which was beautiful in the snowfall. I'm sharing photos of that. There wasn't time to check out much else because I had to get back on the shuttle bus at 10:30 to catch my next train. I suppose if there hadn't been an ice storm, I would have checked out more of the surrounding area and appreciated it.

GGuest UserIt is an older hot spring hotel. After reading the comments from netizens, I was a little worried that there would be an uncomfortable smell, and I was also worried that the facilities including the room would affect the stay experience. After arriving, the entrance and lobby were quite comfortable. The corridor on the third floor had a slightly old smell, but it was actually okay. The room was very comfortable, larger than expected, and the view facing the stream was pleasant, and the bed was very soft. I was particularly satisfied with the price of more than 5,000 for three people. The two meals exceeded my expectations. I didn't expect the beef for dinner to be very good 👍I recommend the outdoor private soup, you must make an appointment, it's very healing. Compared with the hotel that was almost three times the price of the second night in Hakone, the price-performance ratio is really high and worth experiencing 👍

CcghucgkeThe hotel is just around the corner from the mountain train station. The environment is very good and the facilities are complete. Toiletries and lotions are provided. You can check in directly with just a change of clothes. I left my luggage at the Tokyo Hotel. The Kaiseki dinner was of good quality. If you are not used to Kaiseki, you can get off at the previous stop, Mori no Bijutsu. There is Lawson opposite. Buy some snacks, instant noodles and cook in the microwave!

GGuest UserA fantastic hotel, though quite expensive. Firstly, the setting is superb. Waking up and opening the window, you're greeted with picturesque mountain and water views, with Mount Fuji visible in the distance. Secondly, the rooms are spacious with well-designed functional areas, making them very convenient. As the hotel is a bit far from the main commercial areas, we opted for a one-night package that included two meals. For dinner, we chose the French option, which was incredibly refined and delicious, with some particularly distinctive appetizers. Paired with a small bottle of Japanese Dassai sake, I'd give the dining experience an 8.5 out of 10. After 10 PM, hoping to avoid the crowds, we headed to the onsen (hot spring). A crucial tip: don't mistake the initial shoe lockers at the entrance for your main storage. The first set is only for shoes; there are separate lockers inside for your clothes. Also, always remember to thoroughly cleanse your body before entering the communal baths. For breakfast the next morning, we opted for the Japanese set meal, which featured nine small dishes, each offering a small portion – more for the variety and aesthetic. While it wasn't on the same level as the French dinner (and you can't really compare breakfast to dinner), it was a pleasant change. If you have ample time, I'd recommend staying an extra night to truly soak in the unique tranquility. The Japanese approach to developing tourist attractions is quite unlike what you might find elsewhere; there's no sense of over-commercialization or maximizing every last cent. On the vast Lake Ashi, for example, aside from the 'pirate ships,' we couldn't find any small boats available for rent, which I suppose might be due to safety considerations.

MMeow sensai**Positives:** ✅ **Modern & Clean:** Well-maintained, spacious rooms with comfortable onsen. ✅ **Good Location:** Convenient access to surrounding areas. **Areas for Improvement:** ⚠️ **Room Location:** - Room extremely far from dining/foot bath – exhausting daily walks (especially with foot concerns). - *Suggestion:* Offer closer room options or service for guests with mobility needs. ⚠️ **Dining Experience (Dinner & Breakfast):** - **Food Quality:** Lamb not fresh; overall quality below ”1 stay 2 meals” onsen standard. No beef , only lamb meat is not fresh. Not satisfied with the food quality. We wanna have cup noodles after meal. Breakfast is slight better. - **Variety:** Insufficient choices (both Western & Japanese); lacked local/seasonal specialties expected at onsen hotels. Pretty disappointed. We been to many onsen hotel in Japan. Never encountered this. - **Service/Clarity:** Buffet poorly organized; unclear signage led to confusion over food availability. - **Expectations:** Meals didn’t showcase regional ingredients or highlight local cuisine like other onsen resorts. Hakone is famous onsen should showcase their seasonal ingredients in this region. **Summary:** Strong potential with modern facilities, but **critical improvements needed in dining quality** and **room accessibility** to meet onsen hotel standards.

GGuest UserRoom is huge for Japanese standard , of course we paid a lot for it. It may have looked good 10 years ago but it is only ok in today’s standard . Bad thing - NO VIEW ! our room with a Huge balcony faced a car park , I guess that’s why they sell this room to Non-Members . Thus the Balcony serve no purpose bcos there’s no view . Parking is easy , including access to ba*****t parking . The public onsen is not bad with 2 outdoor onsen . The in-room private onsen is convenient but there is No View . I specifically requested for room with a view (not car park view) for the price I paid but knowing the Japanese inflexibility, it will be impossible to have a room change after they have allocated one , plus they r running full capacity with inadequate manpower. Breakfast standard is way below par for this level of luxury club standard . I had much better breakfast for room half this price . They should do a lot better in the selection and quality of the breakfast. And we have to queue 30 mins for a table. The service staff was trying to separate us from the member guests with different route , access , etc … again for the price I paid , it is totally not worth it , be it the property , the service , or the quality of the breakfast. Overall - I will not stay here again . There is nothing good at this price that will entice my return.

GGuest UserWe got to the hotel in the beautiful location just before 3pm and we got given a little tour of the place and then got shown to our room. The staff are very friendly and do their best to speak English. A lovely lady was in charge of our hospitality throughout our stay and she first showed us that there is a public hot spring and a private hot spring and asked us if we would like to book a time to use the private hot spring, we booked a time as we checked in but then we didn’t use it as we were happy with our private hot spring in the room. We also booked a time for dinner and they arrived at that time Promptly with A LOT of food. We also got a choice for a staple food and we chose some steak which was high quality and delicious, as well as the lobster (on the menu it said grilled prawn but a lobster is what came and it was delicious). We ordered a few beers and a bottle of wine with room service and it always came quickly and was nice and cold. The private hot spring is absolutely boiling but it’s a good experience and there’s ice water provided which helps. Breakfast came at 8.30am and it was also huge! It didn’t come with coffee but I ordered some and that was easy enough. The lady who served our food explained every dish and how to eat it and she was always extremely friendly and attentive. Would recommend!

KkitekidThe exterior is in the style of a simple European manor, and the interior should have been renovated in recent years. The key is a traditional key with a long plexiglass room card, which is very impressive. There is a natural hot spring private bath, where you can enjoy the view on the hillside. There are massage chairs, TVs, etc. in the bathing and changing lounge area for you to rest and cool down before returning to the room. The service is very considerate. The breakfast is a Western set meal, which is exquisite and can be eaten as a breakfast. The restaurant faces the hillside and the scenery is invincible. We arrived very late, and the front desk was also very friendly. The front desk was also very friendly during the day, and they responded to every request. Luggage can be stored. The bed and tatami are very good, and the quilt is a duck down quilt, which makes you sleep very comfortably at night. The disadvantage is that you have to climb a slope to leave ”Gora”. There is a car to pick you up at 18:00 in the evening, so you can only climb if it's late. It's closer to ”Park Shang” and there is not such a big slope, but there is still a car at 22:00 on the mountain climbing line to ”Gora”, and there seems to be no car at 18:00 on the traction railway to ”Park Shang”. If you go late, you can only climb or take a taxi. We checked in late, so we only enjoyed the service of being sent to Gora after checking out.
