A very comfortable hot spring hotel, located in the mountains, clean and tidy, the food is also great, it is highly recommended, the main point is that the boss and his family are really very, very good, because we had some problems at the time and lost our passport, the boss has been very enthusiastic to help call the taxi company and the police to help find it, the next day he sent us to the police station to report the case and later sent us to the subway station. I was really touched by the help of the boss and his family, and I am also very sorry that my carelessness has caused trouble to others. Fortunately, with everyone's help, the passport was found the next morning. I am really lucky. If I have the opportunity to go to Kyoto again in the future, I will choose this place again!

Guest UserWe took a taxi to this location because it was a little too far by bus, and we had all of our luggage with us. The location is beautiful. If you're only staying for one night like we did, then you should check in at the earliest (3:00 pm) so you can explore the local area. There are some really nice shrines nearby. We were only able to do this after breakfast the next morning. We also had to be out by 10:00 am, which surprised us because it was listed as 11:00 am on Trip.com. You will be served traditional Japanese cuisine for dinner and breakfast. They do an excellent job of presenting all of the dishes, and the service is also incredible. But if you're not used to eating raw fish, or traditional Japanese cuisine in general, you should definitely bring your own snacks to eat in your room! We stayed in the Garden view room with tatami mats. The staff will actually rearrange the room for you during dinner and set up your beds if you select this room. That was a very nice touch, so make sure you don't leave your room a total mess before dinner! I have added a picture of the beds after they were set up. The garden view was well worth the money we spent for it. Very relaxing and beautiful. And surprisingly enough...the tatami beds were super comfortable and warm!

My Kyoto trip was particularly satisfying with this Kyoto townhouse. It had a garden, a private hot spring bath, and was brimming with Japanese charm. The breakfasts were especially delightful, with a wide variety and different dishes each day. After breakfast, there was also a traditional Kyoto matcha and carefully selected sweets; the owner even patiently explained the proper way to drink the matcha.
It's a bit far from the subway, but there are several bus stops nearby, making it quite convenient. Strolling along Kyoto's charming streets and discovering hidden gems of little shops was also a delightful experience.

This is a budget hotel aiming for something more—and they’ve genuinely succeeded. The room was probably the smallest we’ve ever stayed in (think sleeping on a boat or in an RV), but it was spotless and well designed. Every afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 the hotel offers a complimentary sake bar in the lobby. They also offer an impressive selection of amenities: toothbrushes, razors, face masks, serums, bath salts, and more. Breakfast is excellent, with plenty of variety. The onsen is O.K. and alternates between men’s and women’s use. We used the laundry and it is conveniently located and inexpensive. It rained while we were there and they offered us umbrellas. The staff are friendly and helpful, without exception. The location is fantastic—just steps from Teramachi and Nishiki Markets, an easy walk to multiple train stations, and close to both the Gion and Pontocho districts. There are countless restaurants in every direction. On one of the afternoons during our four‑night stay, the hotel even hosted a free maiko (apprentice geisha) performance in the lobby, which was beautifully done.

JohnW 36Excellent location in Central Kyoto, right in the heart of shopping district, plenty of food options, and a short walk to Gion on the East. Very near to Hankyu train station that goes to Osaka Umeda.
Staff were so friendly, always smiling and ready to assist. Rooms on the smaller side, not sure if it's the layout that made it feel more cramped, but Japan hotel rooms are generally like that.
Best thing about this hotel is the open air natural hot spring! Amazing view of the mountains and you can even see Kiyomizu Dera temple in the distance. The water temperature was also not burning hot like some other public baths.
There are complimentary drinks (including alcohol) on the rooftop terrace everyday from 4.30 to 6pm. Also free drinks from coffee machine all day in the lounge.
I did not take hotel breakfast as I saw it is only simple bento box instead of buffet, so you can get better food outside.

The room we stayed in had more of a western fee to it (a chaise lounge and a single seat instead of the traditional Japanese table). Regardless, the room was very pretty with traditional Japanese wall paper, blinds and bathroom. The blinds were a tiny bit spotted with stains especially near the furniture which we overlooked, but the amenities were plentiful and offered in the room.
The beds were extremely comfortable and chargers for phones were made readily available. Very nice to melt away in bed after a long day without needing to unpack chargers.
The shared baths were also beautiful, large frosted glass surrounded the bath with an outdoor section that offered more of a nature environment. Since this is exclusive to guests there were times where I was there all by myself for a few minutes which brought deep appreciation.
I did not indulge in the hotels food offerings, and nearby places closed around 11pm so nothing to eat until the morning when we stayed. We found delicious bites and a fair at a nearby temple/park in the morning and indulged in fresh sushi quick bites before heading to our next destination.

Waking on the cloudWe stayed here for a family trip over Children's Day in May. Banyan Tree is such a renowned brand even in Korea, so I had high expectations when I booked our stay.
However, we were hoping for a mountain view, but instead, we got a cemetery view – and on a dark, rainy night, it was quite enough to give us nightmares. If you're looking for a relaxing experience, like soaking in a Japanese cypress (hinoki) bathtub, you'll be satisfied, but I have to say the view was extremely disappointing.
On the positive side, the Japanese tatami room vibe was very pleasing, and the aroma oil program at the spa was really interesting.

Anonymous UserWonderful stay, the design/interior is confortable, breakfast is great, service is very good. The spa was also nice with the thermal bath. We really enjoyed also the shower in the bathroom. Japanese breakfast was also nice.
Overall a good experience, we had a room facing the street which was not ideal, I would recommend to book a room facing the garden or the castle.

MibaobaoThe hotel boasts an excellent location, just about a ten-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station and a mere five minutes from Aeon Mall, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel, and subway and Kintetsu stations are also nearby. The hotel breakfast is also great, offering a good variety of both Japanese and Western options, and the service is very attentive. The public bath, however, is quite small. I was hoping to soak there every evening to relax, but on my second night, I encountered someone bizarrely scrubbing their feet and legs in the pool! I was so disgusted I immediately fled and never went back. Luckily, there's a bathtub in the room, so I ended up using that instead. Overall, the hotel offers great value for money, and I'm very satisfied! 🈵

This Japanese-style guesthouse is very authentic. It has an open-air hot spring bath and the meals feature a delicious miso hot pot with plenty of vegetables. We visited during cherry blossom season, so it was crowded, but the customer service team was very helpful and actively assisted us in finding a better room type, which we really appreciated! It's surrounded by forest, and we heard that in autumn and winter, there are bear families around, but the owner seems quite used to it!
