Helensburgh Hotels with Airport pickup service

Welcomed by a young lad who was very friendly and gave a speedy and efficient check-in, one of the fastest I’ve experienced (sorry I didn’t catch your name). My husband and I just had a standard double room for a quick weekend seeing family, the room was cosy and clean (just a couple of cobwebs on the very high ceiling), nicely styled with a soft mattress, softer than we are used to but still very easy to sleep on. Kettle, coffee machine, lots of spare tea bags and coffee with biscuits and chocs too… lots to enjoy! The bathroom was clean and bright with an amazing shower and incredible smelling local products to use which left our skin silky smooth (you can buy some of them at reception too). The bar downstairs was well stocked with lots of local tipples, and those from further afield too, all at very reasonable prices. A chilled atmosphere, cool music and a good bartender as well (sorry we didn’t get your name either). In the mornings we were greeted by Dee who was an absolute joy! So friendly and attentive, we had a wonderful long chat with her about family, life and holidays - it’s a shame we only stayed 2 nights so we couldn’t chat more! We both had the free continental breakfast that came with the room, simple but tasty with a decent coffee and perfectly done toast. The hotel itself is opposite the loch, near the centre of town, close to the Central train station - great styling with a nice decor and lighting making it feel unique, we would happy stay again if they have rooms available next time we we are up.

Very good value hotel, the room is large, the facilities are very good, very lucky, we are assigned to the G floor room. Breakfast is also good, there are various grades from 8.89-13.89 fat people according to their favorite point. Parking is also free, the hotel has an oversized BAR, and all in the afternoon are people. Not far from the town center, you can walk.

We booked a weekend break with a view to staying an extra night however, we couldn’t escape quick enough. I tried to call the spa to book a spa day for my hubby and I and each time the phone range and cut off! So no spa could be booked. Let down number one! Upon arrival I checked in and was told the bill was £540?? £440 for the room and £50 per room per night “incidentals” on my card. Not a problem but why not say this instead of just expecting us to know. Let down number two! I mentioned about the spa, there was no apology and was asked if I wanted to book in there, nope that ship unfortunately had sailed. The room was spacious and comfortable enough with everything you needed, I would have expected a coffee pod machine for the price of the stay but instead a kettle and instant coffee it was, this need addressing, I understand they’re undergoing refurbishment which is fine, but let people know and price rooms accordingly. As the room looked tired with peeling wallpaper etc. The breakfast was a huge let down…. (We stayed 6 years previously and the breakfast was cooked to order!) it was on a par with a toby carvery breakfast! The station was tucked into a corner of the room so that if one person was helping themselves, nobody else could get in, leading to it being very awkward to navigate! The coffee was terrible. Not what you expect from a 5 start hotel! That was faux pas three at this point. After breakfast, We decided to check out to spa area. We walked down in our slippers and robes and was met by a young brunette girl and very rude blonde woman, who were deep in conversation about another member of staff. They didn’t stop their conversation for us but did for another woman arrived after us. After she had finished dealing with this lady she didn’t even look at us and just grunted sign in there. There was no direction as to where anything was. No warm smile or any sort of customer service! After making use of the pool and sauna we decided we’d like to sit in the jacuzzi outside…… we were just about to walk in and a young brunette girl said no you can’t go in there!!! I said I’m sorry? She said you aren’t allowed in there at 10.30am as they hold the area to “paying spa guests only” and if we wanted to go in we could after 6pm, This is where I decided to put her straight regarding the failed phone calls to book said spa and that they’d missed out on £324 for the two of us because they couldn’t be bothered to answer nor could they show us the time of day when we arrived at the reception! The attitude of both these women was unacceptable and disgusting!!! Definitely not the attitude to have when dealing with “paying” hotel guests. We weren’t staying a third night and upon check out I noticed 10% gratuities had been added to our bill! I’m not sure why, nobody served us at a table, we had to frequent the bar and carry them ourselves to our table! I couldn’t order room service from the bar this was an issue for some reason! Just Wow , couldn't have had a more pleasant stay, the staff were very hard working, cleaning staff are very special people, work tirelessly to keep it absolutely spotless and it is. new style Ikea style beds, clean all new bathrooms and that new feel about the whole place, couldn't do enough for me and my business associate. Absolute Bargain too for the quality top marks to the lovely owner and always a pleasure to meet lovely people.

Spacious bright room with comfortable bed and ensuite bathroom. Concierge provided great local advice and breakfast was good and substantial. Convenient quiet location with a car.

We went here for our one year anniversary and it was bang average. The hotel was gorgeous on lovely grounds and spa was nice too, BUT that was ruined with the service. My partner had secretly booked balloons, a petal love heart and chocolate strawberry’s for the room. At the reception on check in, we had already paid for the hotel, room and gifts, but they recharged us £90 plus a £50 deposit fee, when everything was already paid for. On arriving in the room there was no chocolate strawberry’s there which ruined the surprise when my partner had to go down and ask for them as well as query the extra charge. After them trying to argue the charge, they admitted it was their fault and we got the money refunded. Strawberry’s were brought up but these included 5 of the smallest chocolate covered strawberries, not £40 worth which was what they charged just for the strawberries. Then we went to dinner and the waiter brought over my correct order but my partners wrong order for our main. We then had to wait 15 minutes for his to come out, they never even took mine away and gave me a fresh one so we could eat dinner together. I had finished my meal by the time his came, great anniversary dinner together. NOT. A shame that a gorgeous place like this is ruined by bad service.

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a golfing trip with friends to the Open at Troon. Perfect base for the golf and Loch Lomond. Great little hotel, very good breakfast at very reasonable price, really friendly staff, comfy bed, very clean and tidy and excellent value overall. It could do with a bit of a refurb, floor squeaks and windows not double glazed means there is a little road noise, but absolutely not complaining - for the price it is a gem of a place.

Dinner arrange with friends and decided to stay local rather than heading into Glasgow. Big mistake unfortunately. Arrived at 7.45, restaurant was quiet. Shown to table and hassled about drinks almost as soon as we sat down. Menu was very much similar to a Harvester Restaurant chain one. Had a trio of burgers, scampi, prawn pasta and katsui curry. Very middle of the road and the trio of burger s was very disappointing. Puddings were even worse the lemon meringue tart had a crust on it that you could have cracked a nut with it was so hard. The best of the even was being told at 9.15 that it was last orders and then being kicked out at 10pm. Definitely a place to miss , if you wish a nice meal and don’t want rushed out of the door.

Lovely hotel with a friendly service and plenty of amenities. The leisure club was lovely, especially after a day of hiking.
