Hotel Alsterblick

Hotel review: We spent 2 nights in this boutique hotel for a city trip as a couple. The location right on the Alster was excellent and the staff was friendly both at reception and during night shift. The hotel has a nice staircase with elevator. Unfortunately, parking was a big problem as the hotel garage was expensive. In addition, the hotel was extremely noisy as the hotel floors used to be apartments. This meant that we could clearly hear the neighbors, even down to the morning activities of a family with three small children at 6am. The standard room was also very small and the bed seemed rather narrow for two people. Additionally, the bathroom had dirty towels and stains on the wall, while the shower cubicle had limescale deposits. In terms of value for money, we were disappointed, especially at breakfast in the basement without a view of the Alster. Although the selection was OK, fresh egg dishes were missing and the juices came from the bottle. There was also no table service for coffee or tea. Overall, the hotel was too expensive for us and we would not book it again.

The hotel is in a nice part of town. First the positive and then the negative. We had rooms 28 and 29. The rooms are nicely furnished and have the most important things. I think it's a good thing that we get two free bottles of water on arrival. The rooms at the back had a view of the garden at the back or the back yard. The rooms were very quiet, you could only hear the floor upstairs now and then when someone walked. We didn't find it disturbing. We fell asleep with the window open and were woken up by birds in the morning. As mentioned, the rooms at the back are very quiet and we didn't hear anything other than nature that was disturbing. Breakfast had something for everyone and we personally didn't miss anything. The reception staff were super friendly and the dishes were cleared away quickly at breakfast, the clearer was very hard-working! Now for the negative things, which aren't really negative but just things that we somehow missed. - There are no parking spaces, you have to look for a parking space in the evening when you want to go back to the hotel. -The cleaning crew was very loud, they practically shouted at each other from one room to the other. It could also have been a conversation but it was very loud and if you still want to rest or simply enjoy the silence it's not so great. -Having a water or non-alcoholic cocktail with your partner at the bar downstairs in the evening is not an option as there is no bar. -The price - we only slept there and had breakfast and made a reservation at the Alsterblick Hotel and got the window overlooking the courtyard. I wouldn't come back for that price without saying beforehand that I would like the Alsterblick for that price. -The minibar is perfect although I didn't drink anything from it because it wasn't cold enough for me. Otherwise it has everything you need. As already mentioned, these negative points are not things that will stop us from coming back. They are things we can live with. High quality boutique hotel. Very good and varied breakfast, very good hotel location in front of Lake Alster and very good room with magnificent views of the lake. The service at reception was very good. Very nice decoration.

The hotel is centrally located and is easy to reach by bus lines 6 and 17. The rooms are stylishly furnished with stucco on the high ceilings, the beds are comfortable. The bathrooms in the deluxe rooms are very different... from spacious to max. 1 person at a time. Our stay was accompanied by construction noise emissions. Also high temperatures... both inside and outside. The rooms do not have ventilation/air conditioning and do not have blinds. As a result, the room heats up despite curtains. Rooms facing the Alster are noisy due to the busy lake promenade and street. A quiet night is unthinkable, especially when the windows have to be open at night to cool down... the view of the Alster is only possible in the cold season, as mentioned in the hotel description... when the trees have no leaves... then the loudly cooing pigeons may also be gone... The rooms facing the courtyard are darker and quieter. There is an elevator... but access to the hotel is via a steep staircase. The chambermaid removed personal items from the room, which the receptionist only responded with "we're sorry". Breakfast is plentiful - but the same every day.

Very nice old building hotel, right on the banks of the Alster. Rooms very nice and quaint, very good beds, everything very clean. Very friendly staff at reception. Won a prize for the "most beautiful staircase in Hamburg". Excellent breakfast. Problem: Parking is very difficult, even unloading in front of the hotel is not really possible because everything is parked. A staircase leads to the reception floor (approx. 12 steps), which may not be ideal for older people. We were lucky and found a parking space about 300 m away, but parking in the Uhlenhorst district is a real disaster. If you are not a good walker, it is difficult. Otherwise the location is fantastic, as is the hotel itself. We would love to come back.

Very nice, stylish hotel. Very clean, good breakfast. Well located on the Alster. Easy to reach on foot from the train station. We had actually booked a superior room, but were upgraded to a suite for the same price. Fantastic. Lovely, courteous staff. Can be recommended without reservation.
