When I first saw the photo, I thought it was a road along the river, passing through the bridge in the picture to reach the hotel on the other side, but it was actually right next to the road. A short walk away is the bus stop, and a few minutes walk up the mountain is the mountain tram stop. The hotel itself is surrounded by woods and rivers, and the Japanese flavor can be felt in every corner of the Japanese-style building. The service is in place and there is a souvenir shop on the first floor. The tatami room is very spacious. This time it was Kaede, the room on the second floor at the corner. It was very comfortable to lean on the window sill. One of the hot springs has a big and beautiful view, while the other one has floor-to-ceiling windows like the one next door and has no view. The two hot spring rooms rotate daily according to gender. A home hot spring is just a square bathtub without any view. The rooftop restaurant is also surrounded by nature, where it is very comfortable to enjoy traditional cuisine. It is a good choice to experience Hakone.

Very good. High cost performance. The room rate only includes breakfast. After comparing, I feel that dinner is not expensive. I ate in the hotel. Dinner is good

The century-old hot spring hotel is built by the river. You can hear the endless flow of the river from the room. Although you may think the sound of the river is noisy. But it is actually very good white noise, very comfortable to sleep. The traditional Japanese room is very old but the sanitary conditions are OK. The service is really bad. Other hot spring hotels in Japan will clean your bed and make the bed at night, but this one doesn't, I was shocked! There are two hot spring pools, not outdoor, very old hot spring pools, I can only say that they are just okay. The hotel has free popsicles, which are quite delicious. There is no shuttle service to the station, which is very disappointing.

Self-service service, you have to take care of your luggage and beds yourself. It is relatively old-fashioned and has a nice environment. Children's clothing is provided, but the children's meals are the same as those for adults and do not take into account the needs of children.

We stayed for 2 nights and had the most delightful stay- true Japanese style! We had a room with a private onsen - to sit in the onsen listening to the river was truly magical- we feel lucky to have experienced this. Enter into the spirit of the ryokan to experience this hotel at its best - wear the traditional slippers and kimono . The meals are an experience! I'm not a fish lover but the food was presented so artfully, many courses which were worthy of a Michelin star. The staff take huge pride in serving local delicacies and the service was 5* Yes the hotel is old but that is part of its charm that does not distract from a fabulous stay

We stayed here for 2 nights on a full board basis near the end of our 14 nights in Japan We travelled from Osaka on the bullet train to Odawara then took the local bus on the Hotels recommendations I think everyone wanted on the same bus and after a 2.5 hour wait in the bus station we then journeyed for about 50 minutes to the Hotel which was 100 metres down the hill on the opposite side of the road Shoes off at the door and we were in Room Take with it's own hot spring pool overlooking the river The room is traditional Japanese and you have to make up your own futon to sleep on - not to my western comfort I am afraid and with the noise of the river outside both nights were disturbed sleep. Food for breakfast & dinner was Japanese set menu with no choices. My wife is a more adventurous eater enjoyed most of it but in all honesty I struggled and only had water for breakfast If you like traditional Japanese food that's not westernised you will love it Alcohol is only served for 75 minutes when eating a glass of beer wine or sake being the options but is included within the overall deal - you can get a bottle of beer for your room but it must be ordered before 8pm and the cost is added to your bill Ceilings on doorways are lower than normal so a few bangs of the head We used the Hakone travel pass and ventured to Lake Aschi on the bus about 45 minutes where there is a boat trip a cable car ride and a funicular railway down into Gora I enjoyed the experience but maybe I am too westernised as I have eaten Japanese food at home but seen nothing on the menu like the last 2 days

What a grungy sad looking place but oh what a wonderful experience. With our own onsen bath, tatami mat floor, no shoes allowed and wonderful food experience we really enjoyed our stay here. The food service was generous. Staff were lovely and despite the stairs our bags arrived in our rooms.

A rustic hotel with old world charm, this hotel will suit those who would like the experience. Please come knowing what to expect. This hotel began in 1630 and many parts of it are from an era before our time. Breakfast & dinner were more than sufficient and the staff were always earnest. I had a room with a private onsen set in a rock garden. It was lovely, and had the river view as a great bonus. There is something about soaking in a hot spring while gazing at maple leaves and hearing the rush of the river.

Ichinoyu is an inn in the historic Tonosawa Hot Springs. The ryokan has such a long history that it is even depicted in the ukiyoe prints displayed in the hallway leading to the bathhouse. The building and the rooms are both old. The wooden frames of the windows and the water features are retro, probably made in the Taisho and Showa eras. However, the rooms are located along the river and have a tasteful atmosphere. The rooms are well cleaned. The hot spring is an indoor bath only. There are no showers, so you have to use a hand tub to draw hot water from the source and wash your body. The quality of the hot spring water is gentle and very nice as you soak in it while listening to the sound of the river. There are no toilets in the rooms, and you have to use the shared toilets on each floor. You can get amenities from the front desk by yourself. The bedding is also pulled out by the guests themselves. The main meals are sashimi, shabu-shabu, and boiled fish. The food was delicious. After finishing the meal, they let the children play with a machine, which is very child-friendly. this inn is good for people who can sleep with the sound of the river and enjoy the old facilities with a sense of the past.
