The apartment is located about 10 minutes walk from Hakone Yumoto station. Check in instructions was easy. The rooms were big and comfortable. Kitchen was a useful size, only thing is the ports and pans were slightly dirty.

Air conditioning temperature cannot be adjusted, we went in April, it was cool outside and there was only heating option on the controls, no cool air option at all. Had to open the windows to get cool air in, still it was too hot inside. Wasn’t able to get a good sleep. Rude encounter with a staff which I believe was the manager. He was downright nasty and arrogant. I would totally avoid this place, his actions was disgusting. He spoke very limited English which was understandable, however using rude gestures pointing and shooing off guests is such a rude thing to do. Would never go back because of this incident.

Very thoughtful hotel. Enjoyed the breakfast and dinner buffets that came with half board. However they serve the same thing everyday but it was ok for me. Will stay again if going to Hakone.

Ten-yu is amazing. We were impressed from the moment we stepped into the lobby. The kind staff allowed us an early check-in at 1 p.m. and arranged lounge services for our three-day, two-night stay. While the breakfast buffet was exceptional—an extensive spread paired with bubbles and wine—the Kaiseiki dinner was a bit disappointing in comparison. We were fortunate to experience a picturesque snowfall that transformed the hotel’s surroundings into a postcard-like scene, and since we drove, getting around was never an issue despite the snow. The staff were thoughtful throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

The room is very big, with a Japanese-style table in the living room. Very cozy. A complete set of Japanese travel clothes and socks and clogs, as well as bathrobes and white pajamas. The refrigerator is full of joy. There is only one outdoor large bath (a little disappointing), but the unlimited popsicles make people very happy. The hot spring is great! The surprise is that there is the sound of stream water under the hot spring in the room. The Huai Shi cuisine for dinner is amazing! There are Western and Japanese breakfasts. I met a ********* lady named Yu Ting for one-on-one reception. She explained all the facilities in the room and the park to us, and she also served dinner in person, telling us how to eat each dish. There is ice drip coffee. The welcome tea is also great. They came to help check in. When leaving, there was a special car to take us to Kowakidani Train Station

Hotel experience was mixed. Positive: the hotel site has a lot of history, the Japanese garden was beautiful and the best part of the hotel. The included meals were good but not spectacular - yet the setting with a view of the Japanese garden was beautiful Negative: the facility was dated with little catch up updares. Only one lock key can be provided n made my wife n my visit to the Onsen very inconvenient as we had to wait for each other all times. The outdoor access for men Onsen had to go thru a common area for men n women so need to re-clothe to get thru, not great. Facility for the Onsen bath were dated n worn out. The in room lighting was dim n equipment facility visibly outdated. The worst was I discovered a big size cockcroach in the bathroom when I got back from Onsen bath in the morning. Smashed it n picture enclosed. We had high expectations coming in to the hotels with strong recommendations by Japanese friends. Was quite underwhelmed. I had stayed at other well rated Ryokans before n most have met or exceeded my expectation. This one fell far short of it.

I booked a room immediately after seeing the Chinese service at the front desk. This is great for a Chinese like me who is going abroad for the first time and doesn't know Japanese or English and can't communicate deeply. It gets dark too early in Japan this season. It was dark when we came out of the museum. Fortunately, we contacted the front desk and the front desk suggested that we take a taxi to the hotel. It was dark when we arrived at the hotel. The hotel is on the mountain, with good vegetation, great air and quietness. The room is Japanese style. The style of the whole room is great, large and clean. There are also kimono bathrobes when checking in. I learned to wear them after following the video for a long time. I seem to be able to do it a little bit😄The hotel supervisor is a ********* compatriot, and the front desk ladies are super enthusiastic. They also drove us to buy food and talked to us about many local customs and food, as well as the hotel's future design and planning. I am looking forward to the next visit. At night, we took a private bath, which was very comfortable and private. The mask in the private bath is really super easy to use, so I took a piece away...☺Hehe... The next day, the supervisor brother and sister sent us to take the bus and told us where to go and what to eat. It was really a great experience. Next time, I will bring my parents to this hotel. Not only is the environment good and hygienic, but the people are also super nice😊

The hotel is located halfway up the mountain, far from downtown areas such as Gora and Yumoto, making it inconvenient to travel and too expensive to take a taxi. It is only suitable for friends who drive themselves. The room is spacious and comfortable, with a small hot spring pool on the balcony, but I still booked the hotel's private bath. The hotel's breakfast and dinner are very rich and I can't finish them at all! The taste is good!

The Hakone Chuan Hotel is great. First of all, let's talk about the pick-up, and go out to the next floor of Hakone Yumoto Station. There will be a car with the name of the hotel waiting in front of the Izu Kyuko bus stop. It seems like a 15-minute shift. It is not a small bus opposite. Pay. However, every time I go to Tangben after I check in, I have to take a small bus that pays the money, one person for one hundred yen. Although it is not in Yumoto Station, but the traffic is very convenient, there is a bus stop near the hotel named Oomoto, which is a direct access to Odawara, Yuan Hakone, and Hakone Yumoto. This bus can be used for Hakone vouchers. The second re-service, when we go to check-in is to provide refreshments, the hotel provides free coffee in the lobby from 5 pm to noon the next day. My Japanese is fortunate enough to meet Chinese employees who are very enthusiastic to help us solve problems. The third room cannot accommodate an extra bed and the room view is very good. The fourth breakfast is Japanese, and the restaurant is full of green eyes. Fifth, the problem of hot springs, such as the children mentioned, can not go to the first floor, so we can only go to the second floor with children. Overall feels good.

CcashIt was so hard to book a hotel in Hakone during Christmas season. I checked the popular hotels with high ratings a month in advance. They were almost fully booked and the prices were ridiculously high, often 5k/6k. I finally found this hotel for around 3k with two meals included, which was acceptable. Although it was located in a relatively remote Sengokuhara, I saw reviews saying that there was a bus stop right outside, so I chose this one. I took the Tokaido Main Line from Tokyo to Odawara-shi and transferred to the mountain climbing line T Togendai. I took the bus for about an hour and arrived at the hotel. As expected, I got off the bus, crossed the road and walked 100 meters to the hotel. There was also a large convenience store behind the station, which was very convenient for buying snacks and daily necessities. The hotel room was a neo-Japanese style, and I liked it. The courtyard is also very elegant. The bathhouse is of moderate size, but I only met one or two people each time during my three-day stay. The open-air bath is very nice. It is amazing to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the courtyard while breathing the fresh mountain air while taking a bath. The meals are healthy, delicious and creative. There are 7/8 courses from appetizers to desserts for dinner, and breakfast every day is also a rich and varied set meal. There are no repeated meals for three days. The local grapefruit wine recommended by the waiter on the last day is so delicious. We went out to play, eat and take the bus back to the hotel every day when night fell. The warm and familiar feeling is like going home, very cozy. It is a perfect blind box opening experience!

GGuest UserThis ryokan is perfect for people who want to experience ryokan for the first time but want something cheaper within Hakone area. Situated on the main road with buses to Owakudani and train to Odawara. I'd recommend catching the bus from Odawara to this ryokan since the walking trail from the closest station to this place is hilly and has lots of stairs. Main road is not very luggage friendly so pack very light when you're staying here. This place has very nice rooms with view to the river behind it. The view is spectacular when the entire river area is covered in red autumn leaves. Dinner and breakfast are very delicious, you will be served a range of traditional food from a la carte to dessert. You can also book your private indoor onsen FOR FREE. The ryokan also has an open outdoor onsen across the bridge for 3000 JPY. The only downside of this place is the main road is very busy as it's the only way for people to drive from Odawara to Owakudani. So local people take this road to get to Owakudani. Buses from this place will not stop at there in the weekend. Your best plan is to go to Lake Ashi first and take the opposite route to Owakudani instead. Plan your trip in this area very carefully because a bus trip that would take 10-15 minutes will end up taking you 1 to 1.5 hours.

TTimothyIf you have extra money, this could be a nice way to indulge. However, a word of warning. If you're arriving at Odawara train station, there's no way to get to the hotel except by the hotel shuttle. Taxis won't take you. And the hotel shuttle won't take you unless you've placed your name on the reservation list ahead of time. Nobody warned me about this. I'd read online that a connecting train takes you near the hotel, but this isn't true either. I arrived during a snow/ice storm and waited over 3 hours before I could get a ride to the hotel. The shuttle driver wouldn't let me on. I called the hotel front desk 3 or 4 times, but they weren't very helpful. I suppose this is the language barrier. They meant well. But regardless, if a shuttle reservation is the only way to access a remote mountain top hotel, it's pretty important to make sure your guests understand this. Once I did arrive, I have to admit the room was beautiful. The buffet dinner was fantastic but not included in the price of the room - a little disappointing, since the room is already so expensive. Lots of extra costs, so be careful. I received a really great massage in my room. The onsen hot spring was very nice, and free (included in room charge). Breakfast the next morning was also included in room charge. The hotel bar was closed, though. There wasn't much opportunity to socialize or meet people. I did check out the lake the next morning, which was beautiful in the snowfall. I'm sharing photos of that. There wasn't time to check out much else because I had to get back on the shuttle bus at 10:30 to catch my next train. I suppose if there hadn't been an ice storm, I would have checked out more of the surrounding area and appreciated it.

MMichiruI went by car. I arrived much earlier than the scheduled check-in time, but they were happy to accommodate me, and after checking in, I was able to use the free shuttle bus from the hotel to Motohakone Port, so I was able to explore without the stress of parking. The view of Lake Ashi from the room was also very nice. I had dinner outside, and for breakfast I could choose between Japanese and Western food, and ate it in each restaurant. The Japanese breakfast I chose was very delicious. I also enjoyed the guest room. I would like to come again.

SStephen LmfSpacious and clean room, with welcoming service! We drove to Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora by ourselves arriving rather late in the evening, but still we were warmly greeted by their staff, who followed us to the car park and helped us take our luggages. Check in was smooth and we were in our room in no time! We asked the staff if there was any restaurant nearby and they printed out pages of different selections around the area! Since it was getting late, we didn't bother to go out for dinner, so we gave the hotel's restaurant a try, which quality took us by surprise! Dinner was pretty close to a fine dining experience, with good quality food and fair price - highly recommend. Breakfast was at the same restaurant and buffet style! Yum! The room was clean and spacious, however, the onsen was semi open and we were a bit worried people outside may see us. There won't be people walking right outside, but still fairly close to the gas station/ convenience store across the street - may have to put in consideration on which room type you'd choose.

SShenmedoubujiaoshi1. Let me talk about the transportation to the hotel first. I didn't do much strategy before, so I didn't know how to get there. Thanks to the Ctrip girl for patiently answering many of my questions. To sum up, there are a few points: 1) Take the hotel shuttle bus: There is one bus every day, at 14:00, and it will pick you up from Odawara subway station. You can see the bus parking lot when you get out of the station, about ten meters away. The straight-line distance is actually not far, but it takes about an hour to drive around the mountain. I think this is the most convenient way to go. You can directly ask Ctrip to help you book a shuttle bus. 2) You can take the bus. But because I don't know where to check the timetable, I gave up the bus. Everyone says that the bus station is 700 meters from the hotel, but it doesn't feel that close. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk. You have to walk uphill and pass through some residential villas. 2. The hotel room is very large, and there is a small loft downstairs. The decoration can see the old money style. There will be a strong mountain breeze at night, but the hotel windows are very soundproof. It's just that our chandelier lit a faint light in the middle of the night, which was a bit irritating. It was fine the next day. 3. The hot springs are open-air and indoor. They are quite standard. It feels that there are more people in the morning than in the evening. 4. The breakfast restaurant and dinner restaurant are the same. It is right after entering the hotel lobby. The view is very good. The breakfast variety is quite rich. Adults are RMB 200. Children are half price. Compared with the breakfast variety, this price is a bit expensive. Because there is no on-site service for breakfast. 5. There is a bus to Odawara Station at 11 o'clock. We went directly to the outlet with our luggage. Because the road to the bus station is not smooth, we asked the hotel's minivan to take us to the bus station. It took about five minutes. 6. It takes 10 minutes to walk from the hotel to the bus station. You can take a bus to Taoyuandai Station, and then you can buy a cable car ticket to Owakudani there. You can also buy a pirate ship ticket for Lake Ashi. They are all at that station, which is a hub station. You can also take a bus directly to the outlet. It takes about half an hour, and then it is very convenient to change to the outlet shuttle bus. I put the bus schedule below for your reference. There is a Lawson supermarket at the hotel station. There is also a park for watching Miscanthus, which is worth a visit. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel. Very convenient and quiet.

GGuest UserThis was a luxurious stay for us. The room was large and very comfortable, the private bath was wonderful, the buffet breakfast was delicious (and offers a variety for vegetarians); in fact, it was our favorite part of our trip and we wish we could have stayed longer. The downside is the hotel dinner is expensive and not suitable for vegetarians, so the hike down the hill daily for meals (and then back up it) was a bit tiresome. Definitely book the free shuttle service to and from the hotel especially if you have luggage, the “hill” it is on is in fact several steep inclines that are difficult for those less than moderately fit. Another highlight was the hotel’s commitment to honoring the UN SDGs and striving to reduce plastic waste. There’s absolutely no reason in this day and age for people not to travel with their own toothbrush and combs. If you happen to need such amenities, they are available for nominal fees, barely worth complaining over, as many reviews did. This hotel may be pricey, but it’s so worth it, and they’re doing some good for the earth, so the stay comes with more feel good feelings. We are already planning our next stay here.

GGuest UserThe hotel is a bit old-fashioned, but the room is big and has no odor. You can see the yard outside when you open the window. The breakfast is a set meal, and there are waiters to serve the guests. There are indoor and outdoor hot springs. Overall, the accommodation experience is very good. We sent our luggage from Hakone Yumoto to the hotel, and then went out to play. When we returned to the hotel at night, the luggage had been put in the room. It is best to take the Hakone Tozan Cable Car to get off at the Park Station and walk a few minutes to the hotel. If you walk up from Gora Station, you have to walk a steep uphill road.
