Very nice hotel but during check-out, a man at reception with a moustache was exceptionally rude. We had left a key somewhere and he accused us of stealing it, I was baffled and offended and told him it was left someplace in the hotel but he kept shouting at us. Our cab was waiting for us but because he kept us, our fare was an extra ¥2300 of waiting fee. This man was also impolite in the few phone conversations I had today. An otherwise fine stay spoilt by some nasty staff

The location is excellent, but the service (especially handling of accommodation reservations) leaves much to be desired. It is not suitable as a gift for special occasions, and I would not recommend it for stays involving foreign guests. The location is great, and I have fond memories of staying there many years ago. With that in mind, I planned a surprise gift for my mother and relatives visiting from abroad by booking the accommodation online. After the reservation was successfully completed, I received an email from the staff stating, "We do not accept proxy reservations." Reluctantly, I gave up on the surprise and asked my mother to book the accommodation herself using her own name and contact information. This time, the reservation was again successfully completed, and even the online payment was finalized without issue. However, my mother then received a phone call from the staff. Since foreign guests were included, she was asked to provide the ID information and flight details of all guests, including children, as well as details of other accommodations during their stay. Although we complied with this request, the information had to be submitted via email. Since my elderly mother does not use email, I sent the requested information on her behalf. After submitting all the required details, we received another call from the staff, who said that they generally do not accept reservations if foreign guests are included or if the person booking cannot independently handle basic email communication. My mother suggested alternative solutions such as prepayment or phone verification, but the conversation was abruptly ended, and a cancellation email was sent shortly after. If restrictions such as "no proxy reservations," "guests must have sufficient IT skills," or "foreign guests must submit ID, flight information, and accommodation details for all members" had been clearly outlined in the terms at the time of booking, it would have saved us considerable trouble. While I understand the need for security measures, requesting extensive personal information, including details for all guests, travel plans, and credit card information, after payment has been completed—only to cancel the reservation unilaterally—raises serious concerns. Despite the online payment being processed, I wonder if a refund will actually be issued within a few months. When I spoke with the staff on the phone, they dismissed my concerns with a single response: "It is our policy, and there is no problem." What stood out to me more than the policies or facilities of the inn was the overwhelming lack of kindness and consideration.

We were a group of four and spent a very pleasant time at Washintei Hogetsu ryokan. The ryokan is small, yet the interior is spacious and relaxing. We stayed in a room with balcony with a view of mountain covered with fresh green. The building is next to the forest of Hakone Shrine so we enjoyed fresh air and chirps of birds. Besides the public bath of hot spring, private bath with a view was also beautiful (private bath is not hot spring but hot water). Dinner and breakfast were served in a spacious private room separate from guest rooms, which made us feel being in a luxurious traditional style restaurant. The modern Japanese course meal was wonderful, including dessert. Staff members were polite and warm, they helped me to celebrate Mother's Day for my mother (which was my purpose of the trip), the service was unforgettable. Back home I read that many of the Hogetsu's guests are frequent visitors, and that is understandable. I also wish to stay again.

This is probably the 5th time staying here. I visit once a year as a reward trip for myself, but every time I am healed by the delicious food and the hospitality of the staff. The room overlooking Lake Ashi is also wonderful, and the mountain beauty treatment salon is also very good. I would like to use the service I received at Hotsuki as a model when dealing with customers in my daily work. I have also traveled abroad, but I feel that the quality of Japanese inns cannot be replaced by money.

A hideaway away from the crowds - satisfying food, customer service, and hot springs. A blissful inn where you can bathe in the best natural water for beauty and health! Service From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with great hospitality. While looking at the spectacular view in the lobby lounge, we had a welcome drink of matcha and Toyotsuki's original Japanese sweets, which were very delicious. Mr. Nakai's customer service was top-notch, as he immediately arranged forks and chopsticks for left-handed people. Food Dinner is served in a private room, and is a full course meal featuring carefully selected seafood and vegetables made with plenty of seasonal ingredients. We also received a Japanese dish of crab and rape blossoms from the head chef, and it was a very satisfying meal with about 10 dishes in total. The clams, boiled conger eel, duck loin, sakura udon, etc. were all exquisite. The final dish of sea bream rice was sea bream sashimi tossed with sesame seeds and served with wasabi greens rice, making it light and delicious. When I returned to my room with a full stomach, Inari was prepared for me as a midnight snack, and I was impressed by the generous hospitality. Room You can see Lake Ashi from your room and you can open the window. The room was divided into a horigotatsu room and a living room, and it was so comfortable that it was too spacious for two people. The rooms and bathrooms are also decorated with fresh flowers, making this a truly famous inn! Natural hot springs The hot springs have a strong sulfur scent and will relieve your body fatigue. Natural water The drinking water and private baths use natural water pumped from the 100M underground water vein of Hakone Komagatake (Mt. Iwakai), which contains a large amount of metasilicic acid with a high content of bicarbonate ions and silicon. You can take as many beauty drops as you like. The taste is sweet and slimy, and it is very delicious. It has a fairly high pH of 8.3, and is also high in potassium, calcium, magnesium, and vanadium, making it highly recommended for water enthusiasts. Location Although it is a magnificent site, there is only 15 rooms, so privacy is emphasized, so I think couples and families can enjoy it. Lake Ashi and Hakone Shrine are also within walking distance, making it the perfect location for a leisurely stroll or a stay away from the crowds. We recommend this first class inn with the best baths, customer service, and service. You can draw as much delicious natural water as you like on the premises, so we recommend that you always bring an empty 1-2L plastic bottle with you!
