Amazing

Hotel room was spacious. Compound was a bit old but overall clean. Onsen was small but still nice to use, with a sauna. Location was okay as long as there is transport, having the shuttle is a nice touch.

Great

An overall very pleasant experience. I stayed there one weekend for two nights and another for three nights. + The hot spring bath is very cozy with a nice nature view. The Sauna was great. + I wasn't satisfied with one room and could change to another room with large balcony without questioning. + The view from the hotel is wonderful, especially during nice weather. + Great value for money. - Dining in the hotel is only possible with reservation, arriving spontaneously for dinner is not possible. - The bar was closed. But the Gora Brewery is only a 10-minute foot walk away.

I would say the service was pretty good. Morning meal was delicious. It's a pity that I couldn't eat dinner. The room was dusty and my eyes hurt and I sneezed. I didn't have dinner, so I went to a restaurant recommended by the front man.

The overall hotel is built upon a much older building. In general, it was very nice but the room I had (1st floor) was dated and very worn looking. Carpets were worn and spotted (by who knows what) which made them look dirty and unkempt. Wallpaper was lifting in places. All the furnishings were scuffed and marred. That said, the beds and linens were clean, as was the bathroom. Just felt quite old and in need of refreshing. The onsen was very nice and just what you would expect. The staff were courteous and polite (as only the Japanese can be) and there were little language barriers.

It was a nice stay, I especially like the onsen. The staff were nice and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were ok and a little overpriced, there was also no variety to choose from.

The hotel was so nice and clean, though the shuttle service ends early in the evening at 6pm,

Comfortable though very dated hotel. Onsen was lovely. There is no food at this hotel unless you’ve made a prior booking at the restaurant. The staff helpfully drove us down the hill to a convenience store to get meal for dinner. If arriving in Gora, it’s quite a hike up the hill, but if you’ve a Hakone Free Pass, get on the cable car and go two stops up the hill, then it’s just a short walk along to the hotel. Very quiet location. Nice spot to base yourself for exploring Hakone, though plan ahead for your meals as very limited evening dining options in Gora.

and the windows in the rooms are small not taking full advantage of the scenic mountain views. This dated but relaxed hotel has relatively inexpensive rates as compared with others in Hakoe area. The service is courteous in a Japanese way. The view from the lobby and the restaurant is wonderful. Above all, the outdoor hot spring bath, which is a cloudy white water with not too strong sulfur content, is wonderful. That may be due to the fact that I entered three times and was alone all three times.

Stayed at Hotel Marroad Hakone overnight in Gora to break up the Golden Route around Hakone. Was not seeking an onsen experience, was only looking for a room for the night (did not eat at hotel) for a reasonable price, so cannot comment on food and beverage. Room was older and dated, but very clean and quiet. Staff were friendly. Used the indoor and outdoor hot mineral baths, which were clean and well maintained. Hotel was a 12 minute walk (and substantial elevation) away from restaurants in Gora (not that there are many), so dining options were limited (and a hike uphill to get back to the hotel).
