We had a few days left in Tokyo and someone recommended spending a day in Hakone. It was a little harder to get there but we got the Hakone free pass from Odakyu lines which gave us access to all the transportation points. They have done a good job mapping out the day for you. My husband and I enjoyed the day as it included a hike, a boat ride, gondola ride and magnificent views of Mt Fuji. You can also stop and take a hot bath at some of the houses. We chose to stay overnight and had a great private onsen. The pass also allows you to visit certain museums and attractions at no cost. There is a place at the top of the gondola ride where you can try the black egg. It smells very sulfuric there so beware. We also brought lunch since we didn’t know where there would be eateries. All in all we felt it was worth the day to Hakone.
