A very large resort a small supermarket but if not all inclusive would be a problem as to getting cabs to the local town could get expensive Night life for kids good but adults cannot even seat outside in the evening s with a drink as pool bar closes at 6 pm Unless you go to the payable restaurants and champs sports bar not very good if paid for all inclusive We was in block 7 but as there are still steps to the lift if getting on a bit would be a problem as me and my wife 70 and 65 years Overall as we had our son his wife and 3 small grandchildren but they 4 minutes walk away why we wasn’t put nearer each other one would never know but we did not book at the same time they were near the reception and dinning room but did have a few cockroaches in there room trying to use the microwave Overall good resort large pools

I was getting quite concerned from reading all the negative reviews before our holiday to this resort. I wish I hadn’t read any reviews! Yes the hotel isn’t perfect but it’s also not a 5* hotel so it’s what you expect for a 4* at a reasonable price. ROOMS: far beyond my expectations. They are incredible. We upgraded to a sea view room and stayed in the “Royal side” of the hotel. This was definitely worth it. Our room had a great view of both the pool and the sea. The rooms are really large with a large double sink and wardrobe area and a lovely shower with incredible pressure. We did have a bit of an issue with water not draining quickly enough but this didn’t bother us. We just turned the pressure down. The balcony is spacious with two chairs and foot rests. The balconies could do with some TLC but we’re perfectly fine. The rooms were an incredible standard. Clean, modern and extremely comfy beds. Room cleaned every day. Air con worked great in our room but we did hear some other guests complaining that theirs wasn’t working. You do have to make sure balmy doors are shut properly in order for the air con to turn on. POOL: we mostly used the pool on the Royal side as this was much quieter and closest to our room. We did venture over the active side and there was much more going on and most of the entertainment is that side. Music plays throughout the day which is nice. The pool doesn’t open until 9:30 to stop people reserving beds with towels. I personally didn’t like this as I enjoy going down earlier than this to read etc but I understand the logic and is common practice in many hotels now. Be prepared to still Que at 9:15 ready to get to beds!!! Can get quite active which I didn’t enjoy. The pool has lots of what looks like dirt at the bottom but it’s not. It’s just marks on the white paint at the bottom. I’m sure they will rectify this in an off season. The pool is clean and cleaned daily. On the royal side- one is salt water and colder and the other is warmer and traditional chemicals I think. POOL BAR: the best part of this holiday and made it worth the money. Snacks all day included chicken nuggets, wings, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, fresh salads, biscuits, desserts, ice creams. Help yourself to soft drinks and beer and a bar for other alcohol. Hardly ever had to Que. the drinks were great for an all inclusive. The evening drinks in the lobby bar were the best. ENTERTAINMENT: we really enjoyed the evening entertainment and a really great environment being outside on the active side by the Champs sports bar. Lots of people every night and great quizzes and external bands, dance groups and performances brought in. Probably the best entertainment I’ve had at an all inclusive. FOOD: the food is standard all inclusive but had a wide variety. Breakfast is the best meal and has all the usual fry up options including black and white pudding! We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast every day. Lots of options and the pancakes were great too.

My best friend and I did our annual girls trip here and had a great time! The staff were super friendly, rooms were clean and spacious and food was good. The drinks were better in the evening as you were able to get a classic mojito amongst other cocktails from the indoor bar, however in the day the pool bar only really supplied slushy cocktails which also did taste good (especially the pina colada!). They also had a wide range of snacks available at the pool bar and is deffo worth going all inclusive. There are multiple pools, however the sun loungers do get taken up very quickly. But we always managed to find some! I would recommend this hotel for all types of stays (family/couple/friends etc).

Review based on 7 day stay, package holiday with Jet2 Holidays. First impressions of the hotel are nice and modern. You'll see lots of sporty people around. The resort is sports heaven. There's a lot of activities. The hotel is not beachfront. You can see the sea, but to get to a decent beach for a swim is approximately a 30-minute walk away. You can hire beach towels from the hotel. They are provided with a deposit. You could bring your own. Check-in at the hotel was quick and easy. Most people were allocated rooms on the opposite side of the hotel. It's confusing; if you've not stayed here before, let me attempt to explain. The hotel itself is made up of 9 blocks of accommodation scattered over two sites. Blocks 3 to 9 are on the opposite side of the road (Active Resort, the old part of the hotel), which is sporty heaven with gym classes, weights, etc, and a wellness center that offers massages only (no sauna or steam at the hotel), Olympic pool, there lots to do here. The site is primarily step-free, with plenty of ramps for wheelchair users. Unfortunately, if you walk with a stick and struggle with steps, avoid this side of the hotel. Blocks 1 and 2 are at the main site of the hotel. The Main reception is here, where you will likely come and check in first, then be allocated a room. Block 2 is for the royal-level guests, and they have their separate reception. We checked in and were allocated Block 6, room 6135, and this was not a step-free; it was at the far end of the hotel and not appropriate for my mum, who walks with a stick. We talked to reception, and we were moved to Block 3, room 3012, step-free, and had a lift nearby, but to get to restaurants or bars, she had to use the ramp, which made the distance further. There was no way she'd manage 7 nights like this. By the 2nd night, she started getting painful knees. I went back to the main reception and explained the situation. I spoke with Tana, who said he was too busy to make any moves. And he said we'd already moved once, and he had no time to speak with us. I was a little disappointed with his response. The following day, I went back and spoke with Ceti; he was kind, showed empathy, and understood how difficult it might be for an older person with a stick to go up and down those ramps. He immediately moved our room to Block 1, room 1112, and her stay was most comfortable after this. All the rooms are spacious and clean and have walk-in showers. Room 1112 had a partial sea view, and it was beautiful. Rooms have the usual hairdryer, fridge, kettle, and toiletries (shower gel/shampoo/conditioner and body cream). Thankfully, the hotel is sustainable friendly and uses less plastic. The only downside was they did not offer any water in the room. I understand this is to reduce plastic bottles, but even a jug to refill water would be helpful. You are expected to purchase a water refillable bottle and refill it at various water stations. I cannot stress enough "please bring

Not enough sun beds for the size of the hotel (the hotel is huge) Room smells of drains No late check out so had to pay for another night because the only option was to have a shower in the pool toilets which were dirty, not private and had cockroaches in

I stayed here with my husband and three boys age 3, 6 and 8. The check in process was fast, by friendly reception staff. We had a family room which was very clean. Beds were all memory foam mattresses. The room was cleaned to such a high standard daily. Couldn't fault the buffet. I have 3 boys and they all found food they loved. All fruits and veg were fresh great variety. Great options for vegans and vegetarians. My son has a severe nut allergy and the chef met us and talked through each dish to let us know what was safe for my son to eat. Very accommodating. The entertainment team were amazing. My boys wanted to go to the Barcy club every morning to do crafts and play in the pool. Cristina, Niko, Nico and Sara, thank you so much. My boys had such a great time with you all. We loved the fact that there are two hotels for us to use. We found one hotel seemed to be more catered for families and the other one was more catered for adults/couples. We loved this as once the children were in the kids club we were able to relax and swim without children running around making lots of noise! We wanted to find a holiday to relax and this did the trick. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We had an amazing experience! We visited in June and stayed on the lower side of the hotel. It was early in the summer so was fairly quiet. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff are amazing and so attentive. We were on half board so breakfast and dinner. The food was great with a massive amount of options for both meals. We had some minor problems during our stay, but they were sorted out by the staff. 2 small problems with our rooms was the bathroom door wouldn’t close properly, fine for a couple but could get uncomfortable depending on who your sharing with. The other was the 2 single beds pushed together to make a double. This is common at hotels like this, but we often found ourselves having to squeeze onto 1 bed, otherwise we would fall down the gap. Apart from that, we had an amazing stay! Thank you so much to your hard working staff!!

Just back from a week @ Barcelo Active Resort . Booked through Love Holidays. Couldn't fault the hotel, coach transfers everything went really well. Great job LOVE Holidays Brilliant hotel, lovely atmosphere, food lovely. We had requested a sea view room which was lovely and it overlooked the beautiful pool area which was a bonus . Even though the hotel is a bit far out from the square in Tequise, you have taxis @ €4 & bus stops right outside the hotel. Bus fare to the square €1.40 (remember to have small change for the bus ) Bus to Porta del Carmen is only €2.95. Or if you love the exercise just walk. Having access to both hotels was brilliant. The Spa is amazing , best treatments we have received abroad. Supermarket across the street with everything you might need. Hope this was helpful
