Bastion Hotel Groningen

A great value for money hotel. Lots of free parking is a major plus, as was the good air conditioning, which was essential during the August heatwave. Good wifi. Breakfast choice limited. Bathroom cramped and only a single bed. Restaurant was serving a limited selection of bar meals. The hotel is located on an industrial estate about 3.5km from centre of town. One bus an hour into town, or an easy cycle. Lots of litter in the car park, which is unusual for the Netherlands (I would guess it was left by the significant number of English guests). The staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the apartments across the road from the hotel but which gives you all the facilities of the hotel. I really liked it. The rooms were spacious. The lounge, kitchenette area and dining area was great and very well furnished. Our ground floor apartment had a shared terrace outside which was nice to have. You can use the hotel's gym and help yourself to coffee and tea in the hotel reception. The bathroom was a bit small and had no shelves or cabinet to store toiletries which was strange. The cupboard shelves/space was also very limited and we couldn't unpack much of our baggage at all. Apart from that it is well located to city centre and the canals and we'd stay there again.
Boutique Hotel de Doelen

After a long electric car ride from North Brabant of 3 hours, we arrived in Groningen. De Doelen is a nice hotel in the center of Groningen. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Our suite was spacious and had a beautiful bath and sauna. A nice bed and a nice set of armchairs complimented the whole. The breakfast is extensive and the room with the fireplace is cozy. The hitel does look a bit older here and there, but this is not disturbing. We enjoyed our 2 night stay. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this. We were at the back and were not inconvenienced at all by the nightlife crowd. In short, highly recommended in Groningen. The place is ideal for a nice weekend! 😀

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of august. It a nice hotel with an excellent terrace lokated at the Paterswolde lake. You can rent a bicycle. It’s nice biking around the lake or to the centre of town (15 minutes by bike). Rooms are clean and spacious and breakfast is OK. Covid measures are clearly visable and well maintaned. 1 of the advantages of covid is that, if you’r in time with reserving the pool, you have the whole indoor swimmingpool one hour for yourself. There are only four people allowed at the same time. In summary. Good place to stay. If you intend to do al lot in the city centre you may want to take a hotel downtown.
Hotel the Happy Traveler

A beautiful double room, very spacious and clean. The bathroom is large and clean, too. There is a good WiFi. In the room there is a nespresso and coffee and tea. The staff is polite and very discreet. Two small bemol: a very strong noise during the night (which came from nearby restaurants) and I had no hot water for the shower, in the morning ...
Martini Hotel

We are using this hotel for years for business purposes. It's a shame that level 1 and 2 rooms are so old and never been renovated for years. We usually stay in level 4 rooms, but not this time. The room on level 1 didn't have any air conditioning, and it was too hot to have a decent sleep even with opened window; and it was noisy as well... Mattress too soft (poor quality) that you end up with back pain. Breakfast quality is not the same as well. Orange juice dispenser was switched off one hour earlier before the breakfast finishes. Bacon was just not eatable... etc.
