Captain Cook Motor Lodge

Very spacious for family with 3 kids, super clean and close to the beach (roughly about 5 mins walk). The carpark is just in front of our room and easy to load the luggage as well. I highly recommend this to people with kids, very family friendly. We really enjoyed our stay there, thank you!
Pacific Harbour Motor Inn

A lovely spacious room in a very convenient location for the town, riverside walks with monuments to Captain Cook and his cabin boy, museum and beaches. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious. Although breakfast wasn’t included you could order a continental breakfast the day before which was delivered that evening to eat at your leisure the following morning.
Waikanae Beach Top 10 Holiday Park

Free parking, parking at the entrance of the accommodation, very convenient. The kitchenware is very complete, except that there is no chopsticks. Because of the built-in kitchen, it is very convenient to get some children's favorite food in the morning. The room has 1 single bed and 2 double beds. The scenery is amazing, the children's playground, and the swimming pool children love to play.
Senator Motor Inn

My husband and I spent the weekend here for his 40th birthday. The room was beautiful and well maintained. We also loved the view looking across at the harbour. The bathroom was beautiful and clean and spacious!! The hosts were amazing!! Even going above and beyond and looking after the 40th birthday cake we had made for the Occassion and keeping it in their kitchen, which made our weekend so much easier!! We loved how close we were to town and enjoyed walking to find our meal. We will definitely becoming to spend future weekends here 😊😊
White Heron Motor Lodge

I travel all over Central North Island and this is one of my favourite places to stay. It’s clean, comfortable and has all of the amenities that I need (kitchenette, good shower, good bed, good wifi). It’s been a while since I was last in Gisborne, and when I stepped into the room the feeling of relief and content was palatable. I’ve stayed in some disappointing places over the last couple of months and love this place just for that feeling.
Emerald Hotel
3.7/526 Reviews
Where do I even start?! Bluntly put, this place was disgusting and hideously expensive for what you get ($176 for something far worse than a motel). The Emerald describes themselves as a “hotel that offers all the benefits of boutique accommodation”, which sadly I don’t agree with. I’m honestly not sure that this can be called a hotel, let alone “boutique accommodation”. I’ve noted an unfortunate number of issues with false advertising. I chose this place because it had a spa pool, so imagine my disappointment when I found out that it doesn’t have one and it looks like this has been the case for a long time. The pool is worn and dirty and where the spa was, is now deck with a table and chairs. Very annoyed. So don’t believe the pics you see on here. My room was very big, but I feel like I was duped again as the picture when I booked showed a balcony and windows, but mine didn’t have one and the window looked out to the hotel corridor, so I had to close the curtains for privacy. Other things that are listed in the amenities and weren’t there: phone, dvd/cd player, coffee/tea maker (it was a jug), minibar. And their own website states they have “Sky TV”, but this is also not correct, as all channels unique to Sky are not available, so it’s Freeview on a sky box (possibly even less channels than Freeview though). The “King” bed was actually just two twins pushed together and it had the uncomfortable seams running down the middle of the bed. The hotel does have a car park at the back of the hotel but be aware as space is very limited (I only saw around 10-12 parks on the 2 floors I went to) and the area is pretty tight to get in and out of. Luckily I managed to get a park on L2 because I don’t know what I would have done otherwise (max 8hr parking on the street). Other issues to note: - you hear the churning of the plumbing pipes in the ceiling anytime someone uses the bathroom (happened throughout the night) - Dirty ‘drip’ marks on the walls, and bathroom - Could hear every word of people’s conversations at 12.30am in the corridor - Receptionist was in the middle of eating when I checked in and again when I checked out For the price I paid ($176 for one night), I was expecting something better than this. Most things would be better than this place. So of course I would I l not recommend staying here and I won’t be returning.
