"Regular visitor to Penang, about 5 times per year.
First time staying in this hotel and I must say it is the best in terms of location, especially for foodie like me. Yummy is everywhere once I step out of this hotel.
Only downside, there is no bedside power point to pluck in to charge my phone. So every time a notification tone comes in, I gotta get out of bed to go check on it.
Other than that, all is excellent.
Attach a couple of photos on the most popular food just along the street outside the hotel."
"We decided to stay at this very unique hotel based on all the great reviews. And we were not disappointed. This hotel is central to so many gorgeous attractions. And even though we had originally wanted to rent one of the many city bicycles available from stations in and around Georgetown, we decided to walk instead, because the heavy traffic and construction worried us. There's just so much to see and do that we became easily overwhelmed. Again, The Loop on Leith is an excellent location that walking around and seeing the sights ends up working out very well, especially when you're avid photographers like we are.
I loved the modern decor of our room with its hip and trendy vibes. A rather small room but still very functional. The bathroom is excellent with hot water and very good shower pressure. And our included breakfast buffet was delicious, although I wish there had been a little more variety. And the cooks and staff were very professional and very attentive, always making sure the buffet counter was replenished. Much of the time the breakfast buffet was quite busy. After all, this is a very busy hotel and for good reason. But still, we would easily return here to stay for a few nights.
We also enjoyed the Netflix in our room and the beds were very comfortable. Excellent mini fridge and even a little sofa. And we even had a fantastic view of the city. But sometimes it can get noisy, mostly from activity from other guests. Thankfully, I always travel with ear plugs.
An incredible little hotel, surrounded by so many top-notch gourmet restaurants too. The hotel has gorgeous decor and awesome personality. This is the place to stay in the heart of Georgetown."
"All in all, not dat bad. The location of dis hotel is nice, those spots r very nearby. However, the WiFi is too terrible, even I using their WiFi or my own data I still can’t got it well. Besides , the sea view was alright even though I’m still disappointed thought dat the sea view would be very nearby the hotel but actually there’s still a distance. Additionally, the breakfast was okay nothing special , the menu almost same every day"
"JEN Penang Georgetown: Central, Seamless, and So Worth It 🌇✨
Tucked right beside 1st Avenue Mall, JEN Penang nails the location game-smack in the heart of Georgetown with everything at your doorstep.
We booked the family room, which came with a comfy sofa bed, a bidet-equipped bathroom, and a bathtub for those post-walk wind-downs. The buffet breakfast? Generous and delicious. But what truly stood out was the service-warm, proactive, and personal.
They even WhatsApped us pre-check-in to see if we needed anything extra. And the cherry on top? A free late checkout at 2pm, no questions asked.
✅ Prime location
✅ Family-friendly rooms
✅ Thoughtful service touches
✅ Buffet breakfast bliss
✅ Seamless digital check-in
Verdict: A must-stay. Already planning our next visit."
"Room was small but clean, cozy and comfortable. The only thing to note is that the room isn’t very soundproof — we could hear people passing by the corridor and doors closing loudly at midnight many times. Parking was challenging. Great location to nearby attractions and shops. Overall great 👍🏻"
"Fast check in process by Mr Saran. Easy parking access (no need to take any parking ticket. Receptionist will register your car plate number and you can enter and out from parking lot how many time you want). Requested birthday decorations and im so happy when i saw the decoration. It was so amazing! And we get small cake too! Thanks St Giles Wembley Penang for this hospitality!
Booked Premier King room. I was impressed by the cleanliness and comfort room. The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable just the pillow is a bit hard for me. Nice view from the room. Quiet room.
Breakfast 9/10. Many varieties of food. Delicious! Especially the taufufa. I repeat 3 times 😊.
Gym is pretty nice and had adequate equipment. Pool view is Komtar 💜 Great location. Walking distance to 1st Avenue Mall, and most places.
Hope this hotel will maintain the services, and cleanliness for long time. Will certainly return to St Giles Wembley Hotel on my next visit to Penang."
"Very nice place to stay, very spacious and clean.
Can wash clothes(washing machine available)
Only a bit far from food centre(need to ride taxi/grab car) other wise a nice place to stay."
"Love the design of the hotel. The room is huge by Penang standard and comes with lots of carpark. We had a really comfortable stay at Sho. The cons is the location which is located slightly away from the Center. The water pressure in the shower is sometimes too low. These are minor problems. Definitely will visit again"
"Ozo Hotel Georgetown is conveniently located in the heart of Georgetown, making it easy to access nearby attractions. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and offers good value for money.
However, there are a few downsides — the reception on the ground floor is often unattended, making parking and retrieving your car inconvenient. The soundproofing is poor, as you can clearly hear other guests showering. Lastly, the Wi-Fi connection is unstable and frequently disconnects."
"The hotel is conveniently located and offers a pleasant stay. However, the centralized hot water supply can be improved, as I’ve occasionally experienced a lack of hot water. The fan is noisy and could benefit from some maintenance. On the positive side, the air conditioning works well, and the daily room cleaning is thorough. The bed is comfortable, and everything else is well-maintained. Parking is available but limited. The view from the hotel is truly breathtaking!"

Great
CChunnuanhuakaikaixindaolaoI really liked the hotel's distinctive style and its rich sense of history. This was the priciest hotel on my trip to Malaysia, and also the one I was most looking forward to. Overall, I felt it offered good value for money, despite a few minor drawbacks.
Firstly, the front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming during check-in, but unfortunately, they didn't speak Chinese, which made communication a bit challenging. Thankfully, a Chinese-speaking service was available via phone later on.
Secondly, the room was very spacious, particularly the bathroom, which was incredibly roomy. The double vanity sinks were convenient, but the twin beds were surprisingly small and felt completely out of proportion with the otherwise large room.
Thirdly, the hotel's ambiance was excellent and very quiet. The sea view from our room was beautiful, and the infinity pool was unforgettable. However, staying in the Victory Annexe meant we couldn't access the Heritage Wing's pool, which prevented us from fully enjoying all of the hotel's facilities and scenic views.
Fourthly, the hotel's location was superb. It's right by the sea and also very close to major central attractions, making it convenient for sightseeing and exploring local culinary delights.
Fifthly, the hotel's breakfast was fantastic, offering a wide variety of dishes with high-quality ingredients. The ice cream was particularly delicious!
A special thank you to the hotel for the thoughtful welcome gift. If I visit Penang again, I would definitely consider staying here.
Iillyana amerA bit of a let down for a 5 ⭐ facilities.
Breakfast : 3/5
Bed : 1/5 (Very hard, had to ask the housekeeping to add on a topper)
Facilities : 3/5 (a bit disappointed on the creaking sound of the door)
Parking : 2/5 (basement parking is not stroller friendly)
Kids room : 0/5 (there’s a smoking odour in the room maybe from the ventilation)
Front desk : 1/5 (lack of professionalism, complain from 7am, attended at 8pm,the staff that help me checked in couldn’t speak in English properly and not even in Malay, very let down for a 5 ⭐)
I will rate it as good value for money if it wasn’t a 5 star hotel for the overall amenities which are much more available than a normal boutique hotel.
But overall not worth the price paid.
Background, I am a heavy traveler and had more than 20 trips per year on hotel alone so I believe my opinion is justified knowing the differences. We even extend the trip by booking at their partner hotel (boutique) and had better experience in fact.
Hope they can look into this😌 but I thanked the housekeeping and maintenance for attending to our needs 🩷
GGuest UserOverall quite comfortable stay. Suite with 2 rooms was just nice for our family of 4. Extra space was an advantage with a kitchenette facility. Pool was nice even though a bit small. Still good enough for a few quick laps and views from pool was nice. Service is good. Staff is efficient and responsive when we requested for extra pillows, towels etc. Location is near to popular eateries but most convenient to drive or Grab around unless don’t mind walking a bit further.
WWishiwashiThe hotel is not in the most central area of George Town, and there isn’t much nearby, so you will mostly need to travel by Grab. Other than that, the hotel is sparkling clean and new. There’s also a nice coffee and tea corner near the reception. I felt relaxed and enjoyed my stay.
GGuest UserThe hotel is great — the room is spacious and comfortable, with a nice bathroom and full amenities. The location is also very convenient.
However, I’d deduct some points for cleanliness. It seems the cleaning focuses only on the frequently used areas such as the bed, table, and floor. There’s still dust under the table legs, on the TV panel and mirror frame, inside the drawers, and under the tissue box.
Overall though, it’s a good and comfortable place to stay.
CCHONG CHING3 Days 2 nights stay at Chulia Mansion Georgetown
We booked 2 superior rooms for 2 nights via trip.com for Rm644.40 or Rm161.10/room/night . We checked in to Room 207 and room 215 upon arrival.
Once the door of Room 207 was opened, a bad odour full of stingy smell appeared. We did not care to take action at that moment. We went out for good food. After coming back to hotel to rest, we tried to check whereabout the smell coming from, and to take action by closing the toilet door from that moment thru the night. Sad to say, the stingy smell was still there all night long, and I could not have a good night sleep thru the night while surrounded with bad odour.
On top of that, the toilet shower rubber hose was cracked and water rushed out during our shower in day time.
The following day, I went to the lobby to tell the hotel lady, all the facts and request to change to another room. The lady checked the hotel computer system and told me that the hotel was fully booked a night before once housekeeping was done, they will give me a new room. That was roughly 12 noon. So, they tell me to go back to stay in room 207 to rest, and to wait for her call.
At 12 something , one man knocked on my door and sprayed our room 207 with air freshener, changed the hose and left.
By 1pm, I was uneasy and I went to the Lobby to follow up with the change of room. The same lady was watching something like movie her table, I asked her why nothing done to call and inform me to change to a new room. She raised her head and looked at me and said that the housekeeper informed her that there was nothing wrong with the room.
At that moment, my temper was up and I told her firmly and repeatedly that i want to change to a new room.
The next thing happened was that we were checked into room 315. We were lucky and happy that room 315 has no bad stingy smell. However, the shower hose in the room 315 was rosak then again I told the lobby about the facts.
So, moral of my stay is to follow up with the LOBBY all issues and defect in the hotel room that I feel unhappy with.
The whole purpose of the stay is to get happiness and relax by paying cash that worth the value, and not wait until check out to complain.
Last but not least, room 215 facing the street also noisy due to the sound and noise coming from motorcycle , cars and vehicles during daytime outside street, and also live band, loud music and pub. You can also hear music and live band coming from the roof of Chulia Mansion building itself.
Finally, I think if you are a light sleeper this hotel definitely is not your choice.
GGuest UserLocation is good. It's clean. But the rooms are small. The frustrating thing is the main light switches are at the entrance door and you have to get out of the bed to switch them on or off. The crazy thing is even the other room occupant has to get out of his room to come to the entrance door to switch off his room light and then go back to his bedroom😥
GGuest UserI stayed in the suite at tien last year, so I stayed in the king size bed room at tien this year. It should be more convincing. Booking a suite is still a good choice. If you want to book a small room, please think twice. There is no partition in the bathroom of the small room. The bathroom only has a canopy. There are many small insects and mosquitoes.
GGuest UserGood location-close to Blue Mansion and walkable to most locations with main bus route around corner. Our room-105, only had 1 window but we kept it shut as faced back street and air conditioning units which hummed all day/night.also our room was behind wooden staircase so imagine foot traffic noise. Nice shower. Roof too sauna was more of a marketing gimmick as too hot to use! Reception staff were hit/miss but never rude. We would return to Penang and only choose Modern for its location-not that cheap really
JJohnsonYeohGreat service from the reception, especially Mr. Sri
Restaurants, Chulia streets where most pubs are located are all within walking distance.
A bit tricky to find the hotel carpark as the entrance is under a shop house pillar with BIG word Honda at the side wall
Recommend to walk to Red garden food court, nice food and vibes with performance
