石和温泉の宿の中で、最近我が家のお気に入りの宿です。 最近、石和温泉のパンフレット(HELLO ISAWA)に古柏園の社長さんのインタビュー記事があり、興味深く読ませていただきました。 107畳もあった宴会場を個室が並ぶ食事処に生まれ変わらせたなど、新たな時代のスパツーリズムを試みておられるとの事です。 館内リニューアル(リフォーム)もされているとの事で、今回来てみたら、また変わってました。 部屋は多分以前は和室だったと思わる部屋が洋室になり、ベットと椅子と小さいテーブルがありました。 ベッドがあってもそんなに狭くなく座布団もあり、和室風にも使える部屋でした。 しかし、木のベッド台のへりがマットレスより二周り位大きくて、足をぶつそうで、気をつけました。 電源を探していたら、後から気がついたのですが、新しいベッドの背もたれの上に電気のプラグがありました。 テレビは大きく、ユーチューブが見れます。鍵二本も便利です。 また大浴場の脱衣洗面エリアが、以前は昭和レトロの雰囲気でしたが、リニューアルされました。化粧水なども完備されています。 男女入れ替え制のお風呂の方は以前と同じですが、内風呂の両側に窓があり、広い大浴場です。 翌朝6時過ぎに露天風呂に入ったら、山々のあいだから日の出を拝めました。 7階にあるお風呂の休憩所からも近隣山々と、南アルプスの山々が見渡せます。 夕食は個室風のお食事処にでいただきました。 見た目も美しく、一つ一つ運ばれる美味しい料理に、つれあいも「年に2回位来てもいい宿だなぁ。昔とは全く違う。」と、親と来たという何十年前も前と比べて話していました。 今回も石和温泉BYOで、持ち込み料1000円で、山梨ワインフルボトルを持ち込みましたが、こちらでは山梨ワインフルボトルが2530円からでリーズナブルでした(ハーフは1540円から)。 それならわざわざ持ち込まなくても良かったね。」と話しました。 デザートの求肥イチゴムースは、食べたことないスイーツで美味でした。 なお、今回の食事にはローストビーフも鳥の水炊きもあったので、沢山食べる方も満足するメニューと思いました。 朝食バイキングですが、夕食時の個室風の部屋でいただきます。 バイキング時に、係の方がお盆やビニール手袋を渡してくれて、また係の方が常にいて、バイキングでも食べ物エリアがキレイで、気持ち良く食事ができます。 牛すじ煮込みがトロトロでした。またビビンバ丼があり、いろいろのっけました。 フルーツは4種類あり、朝からプチケーキでコーヒーを飲み、部屋にもコーヒーを持ち帰りました。 朝食後に、ふとお庭を見ると、お庭も以前よりキレイになっており、大きな華やかな鯉が池(人口滝あり)で泳いでました。 最後に、部屋の鍵のタグ(鍵番号が書いてある)が小さくて、鍵かどこかに紛れ込んで、見つからなくなったことがありました(後から見つかりましたが)。鍵についているキーホルダーは大き目が良いと思われました。 古柏園は最近来る度に進化していますが、以前の良さも残っています。 また季節を変えて、泊まりに来たいです。

We enjoyed the gorgeous fuji view from the room which was exactly the same as the photo we saw online. The hotel provided free warm packs and snacks in the lobby which was caring. There were also welcoming snacks in the room. However, as far as we know, the hotel provides free shuttle service to/from Kawaguchiko station but it was disappointing that there were no way to book online. I tried to contact the hotel directly via email but received no response from them. Eventually, we took a bus from Kawaguchiko station and walked up the hill with our luggages, which was very inconvenient. Besides, the dinner style/menu was only available at dinner time so we couldn’t take it into consideration when we decided the date of our stay. Other than the above, the overall experience was nice with high CP value.

We took the morning flight from Hong Kong to Haneda Airport. After finishing the luggage and entry procedures, we came to the high-speed bus next to the pick-up lobby to buy tickets. It was simple and convenient. It just picked up the first bus and went directly to Kawaguchiko. Before the bus departed, there was still time to have breakfast and wash. Go to the bus stop from the ticket purchase center and follow the next channel. You can also take the elevator or elevator to the underground bus stop according to the instructions. The small bus arrived on time, the driver's service was very good, and he walked through the narrow street for several minutes to reach the hotel. In fact, the hotel is in a good location, near the intersection, and the surrounding bus stop is nearby without turning to Kawaguchiko. Our room has Mount Fuji view, which is really nice :) - the two pictures below were taken in the room. We also enjoyed our dinner and breakfast at the hotel! The shabu-shabu dinner allowed us to order unlimited beef, pork and veggies within 90 mins, and the hotel offers buffet breakfast with great variety of food and drink choices. The hotel is close to both the bus stop 4 and the bus stop 6 of red/purple/green lines, so depending on where one plan to go, one can get on/off at either bus stop, with a few minute walk from the hotel. (For example, it took us about 15 mins to walk from hotel to the cable car station.) The staff there are really friendly, with excellent services - a big thank to them! There are two onsen areas at the hotel - one in the main building and another in the annex building. We went to the main building one, but it was a bit small and quite crowded, so the hygiene there was suboptimal. This is the only minor thing that we wish that the hotel could do better. All in all, our stay was wonderful :)

As a traveller with large tattoos, I wanted to leave a review here confirming that this onsen allows for guests with tattoos. This is the onsen review only. I went in the early afternoon on a Saturday and, while initially I shared the onsen with 4 other Japanese ladies, eventually I had the whole onsen for myself. Very hot water, 1 indoor pool and 2 outdoor pools, although one was not in use and empty. 1000 yen for 2 hours (bring your own towels), English website, easy to access from Kawaguchiko station.

We checked into Kasuitei Oya for just one night, as we were visiting Kawaguchiko and Mount Fuji en route from Tokyo to Matsumoto. The hotel sent a collection shuttle bus to the train station and was there in a flash. The staff at this hotel were excellent - they were very attentive and happy to spend time suggesting local things to visit. The room itself was beautiful with a great outlook over the lake. We booked a Western style room, which still had the traditional tatami mat area for relaxing but also had a raised Western style bed, which we enjoyed. We really enjoyed the baths and considered booking the private bath for an hour. In the end we just used the standard baths and the outside one was really lovely. I watched the full moon rise from the bath overlooking the lake - magical moment. Although you don't get a Fuji view from the baths or the room in the hotel, there is a balcony up on the same floor as the baths where you can see Fuji. The location of the hotel is brilliant - you can easily walk to restaurants and everything else you need. We spent a nice evening at a very nearby Izakaya called Cooliya bar, recommended by the hotel and a great place for some tasty plates and a couple of drinks later in the evening. We had the traditional breakfast in the morning. There were a lot of dishes within the breakfast - beautifully presented but a little bit too much food for me in the morning, with some of the dishes a bit on the experimental side for us! Overall, a great stay and would recommend.
