Me And All Hotel Flims, By Hyatt

Well, given some of the negative reviews and a mistake in our booking, I would say my expectations were rather low. But I’m happy to report that the hotel was really very nice, very clean, and all the staff members that we interacted with were very professional, pleasant and kind. We were originally booked into a 3.5 room apartment, but were changed to a connecting room in the hotel due to a booking error. While I can’t comment on the apartments, the hotel is really nice, with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The bathroom does have limited privacy, so if that’s important for you, keep it in mind. The breakfast was good quality, with a nice selection of normal breakfast items. You can also order egg dishes if you wish, and I would say that the eggs are actually cooked properly. The location of the hotel is perfect for skiing/snowboarding. From our room we could see the gondola and the Wonderland ski area for kids. Because the hotel is in the Stenna building, there is a Coop grocery store in the same building, which was super nice to grab something from the store without even having to put on our coats. The spa was also really nice, with different steam room options. The only bit I didn’t love was the use of so many air fresheners in the hallway. Maybe just my taste, but I found it a bit strong. I could really recommend The Hide if you want to stay in Flims. The location is perfect, the rooms are clean and the staff are friendly.

We spent three nights here in early October 2022, three of us travelling from England with the fourth family member a resident of Switzerland. We had been a bit concerned having seen the film Youth, filmed here on location, where the hotel came across as a bit grim, but we need not have worried! It was very comfortable, the staff were without exception friendly and helpful, and although it was not cheap we felt it was fair pricing for what was on offer. (The parking seemed expensive for what it was, but that was relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.) Early October was low season, and some of the restaurants were closed. We did not particularly rate the off-site (but hotel-recommended) Pomodoro Italian, and if we had had our time again we would have gone elsewhere in the village. However, the hotel itself has a good bar and the breakfasts were really superb. We enjoyed many of the other facilities on offer, including the spa with its indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, etc. Also the grand piano, the pool table and other various things to do. Free coffees and other drinks (tea, water) are always available, both in the rooms and all around the hotel. Many reviews comment on how they were upgraded to better rooms. That did not happen to us, but as we were four adults (married couple, brother-in-law, adult son), we were given two adjoining rooms with a connecting door, which worked very well for us. The mattresses were on the soft side for our taste, but the room was otherwise perfect for our needs with free mini bar (not including alcohol), TV, safe, tables, chairs, and so on. The rooms and all other areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean. I always feel that running a hotel must be a nightmare job, but they have really got it to a fine art here. The staff never overwhelmed us but were always on hand if needed, and there were lots of nice little touches that made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. We were lucky that the weather was superb for our stay here, and we really enjoyed some of the local scenery, both on foot and in our car. One small detail is that I like to charge my phone overnight, but also have it by the bed to check the time if waking up. The charging area was across the room. Again, though, that is minor in the overall context.
