We travelled to Surville as an end destination based just on reviews we’d read here. Even though the reviews were great, it exceeded expectations. It’s hard to describe just how warmly welcoming the proprietors, Camille, Hugues and their delightful children were. It really did feel like staying with friends. The hotel is set in beautiful, thoughtfully laid out grounds. We swam in the warm pool, played badminton, cycled and just enjoyed picnicking in the wild flower meadow. The hosts lent us bikes for some wonderful rural bike rides between medieval villages. The restaurant was central to the experience and we enjoyed high quality, thoughtful cooking. Indeed, my daughter commented that she’d never had such posh food and so many courses! The rooms were simple, immaculate and very comfortable. Everything is of such a high standard and so thoughtful. We will definitely come back as soon as we can!

Camille and Hugues, who own and run Le Manoir have thought of everything. We had the most glorious stay in exceptional surroundings and comfort. It could not have been nicer. Wonderful food and a superb wine list matched by the beautiful buildings, gardens and superb swimming pool.

I wish we had been able to stay longer here than 2 nights. The surroundings were beautiful and with such attention to sustainability. We enjoyed playing croquet (being English!), swimming and having a picnic (made by Camille) in the lovely grounds. The food in teh restaurant was delicious - and the chef and waiting staff were so kind to our youngest who was not feeling great and immediately suggested a very plain meal which they produced for him. We will return for longer and with a less poorly son! Nothing was too much trouble - and the honesty bar (with its huge selection of gin ;-) was a welcome change and gave a homely feel.

What a truly delightful and relaxing experience at Manoir de Surville. From the warmest of welcomes by the owner and his youngest daughter, to the inventive and delicious cuisine, we could not recommend this private, stylish hotel enough. All the team are open and friendly, the heated pool expertly maintained and the private gardens with a natural woodland flower garden beautifully curated. A private spa and adept masseuse, added an extra treat. So many lovely little details to make your stay a bit more special too, with quality bed linen and toiletries, to a fire pit to gaze at the stars after dinner. All set in a tiny village in Normandy but accessible to so many bustling places, make this your home from home. We will return, for sure. AJ

From our arrival until our departure, everything was perfect. We were warmly welcomed by Hugues, who helped us with our luggage. We were travelling with our very old dog, who can't do stairs anymore, and the room was just perfect. We had a beautiful ground floor room, with a terrace and extremely comfortable beds. We were offered bowls for the dog and a lovely local sparkling cider welcome drink. We had booked dinner, which was served outside on the beautiful grounds, and was light, fresh and modern. The dinner is a set menu but we were asked when we made our reservation if we had any special requirements, so I am sure if there are things you don't eat, they can accommodate. Definitely recommend eating here as the food is delicious and very good value for money. When we asked for a degustive, Hugues brought over the bottles and let us serve ourselves. There is an honesty bar in the lounge, so you can just help yourself if you fancy another drink after dinner, which we did. Breakfast was lovely too with local produce served at the table. Hugues and Camille clearly care about their guests, which is apparent in the service they offer, nothing is too much trouble. If I regret anything, it is that we didn't stay here for more than one night so we could have enjoyed the swimming pool and had more time to enjoy the vast and beautiful garden. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, and we'll definitely come back. Thank you Hugues and Camille for the fantastic start of our holiday

We had a really lovely stay here. The room was comfortable and well equipped. The team were welcoming, helpful, and a real part of the experience - it has a real family feel. We ate at the hotel; lovely breakfast and dinner. The hotel buildings were really picturesque - and a nice touch to have a set of photos of the re-furbishment. In particular we loved the lounge - big inviting sofas around a wood fire, encouraged us to sit and rest after a long journey. Handy for a trip to Giverny for Monet's garden as well.

Great location. Room and grounds fantastic especially for our loopy dog. Food was out of this world. Also loved the lounge with honesty bar and open fire. What’s not to like. Hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Pool looked great.. more for the summer!
