No doubt, this is an elegant, old hotel with a rich and interesting history. I spent two nights there and I will likely not stay there again. The hotel is an impressive sight and will likely meet your expectations for an old, historic property. The lobby is wrapped in dark wood walls and trim. The stairs are built from the same dark woods and creak the way you would expect them to when you walk up and down. The elevator is small and slow and gives you a feel for life in the early 1900s. There are old photos hanging on all the walls showing how people vacationed when the hotel was new. The rooms, which, of course, have been upgraded over the years, have some features that have otherwise been left behind in more modern hotels like thick wood trim around all the doors and windows, and wooden crown and baseboard moulding around the ceiling and floor, and marble countertops in the bathroom and bedroom. So, if you come to the Stanley with the intention to soak up the history, maybe take advantage of some of the tours and other experiences that are offered, and if you appropriately set your expectations to match what you would see in a 115 year old hotel, you might be satisfied. But I ran into some, admittedly small, but some other not so small problems. I'll talk about the small (some would justifyably say "nit-picky") problems first. It would have been nice to have a larger mirror in the room, maybe hung on one of the doors. There was no chair or desk in the room. There was no trash can in the bedroom. The lighting in the bathroom was poor (very dim). There were no soap dishes on either the bathroom sink or in the shower. What are you supposed to do with the bars of soap that the hotel provides? The bathroom sink was poorly installed leaving an unsightly, sloppy gap between the sink bowl and the marble countertop. (This oversight was inconsistent with what I expected from a somewhat more expensive hotel and simply introduced a bad impression about the overall, underlying quality of the maintenance of the hotel and, of course, the hotel itself.) There was no safe in the room. There was no refrigerator in the room. Here are some of the bigger issues that I ran into. The information I received said that the rooms in the main hotel (where we stayed) had no air conditioning. OK. I knew that going in and decided that would be OK. When we got to the room, there was, in fact, something like an air conditioner "connected" to the window and sitting on the floor (see photos). It was ... interesting, and I think it might have worked, but was certainly unexpected. The shower in the bathroom and, specifically, the shower faucet control was a real puzzle (see photos). First, when you rotated the shower handle, it just went around and around without any specific starting or stopping point. I mean, it was not loose. It felt functional, but there was no way to tell what was "on" or "off" or where hot or cold was. In fact, when I first rotated the handle, I cou

We wanted to love this hotel. It is so lovely. We spent two nights in a premium room $$$$ with a very comfy king bed and a roomy bath. Heating had been turned off and it was 40° our first night so our room was quite chilly. There is no housekeeping during your stay apparently. The shower floor is very smooth and slippery. On the positive side we did one of the tours and it was top notch. The hotel is a tourist destination so was quite busy during the day although it quieted down at night. Food at the Cascades restaurants was excellent, we especially loved the chili and meatloaf.

The Stanley Hotel is very busy Memorial weekend holiday 2025. The Cascade restaurant is a excellent place to eat for dinner at Stanley Hotel. Make reservations. There was a lot of people taking pictures in front of the Stanley Hotel. Visit the Stanley hotel gift shop and buy some post cards of the Stanley hotel. Visit the Colorado cherry company store in the Stanley hotel. It's located in the lower floor of the Stanley hotel. The cherry taffy is excellent. Thank you from Rita Bennett and Steve Nordstrom FederalHeights, Colorado Denver natives

Very disappointed with our room. I did not have a chair, so I found it very difficult to put on my shoes. We also did not have a place to hang up the clothes, as there was no closet The bathroom lighting was terrible, although it’s recently renovated, and had no good lighting to make up for it. We were also disappointed in the staff; no one was at the concierge desk most of the time. There was no signage, so finding where things were located was difficult.

We recently stayed at the Stanley Aspire for one night during a swing through town. I have stayed at the Stanley three times before, but this was the first time at Aspire. Upon checking in, we discovered the only elevator was not working. Other guests came by and said “It’s slow,” but we waited with our luggage for about 8 minutes before going to the front desk. The lady there said “Oh, it’s not working again? I’ll call them. Sometimes it’s just a turn of the key.” Aspire is the newest building on the property with one elevator and four floors. We were shown the stairs to carry all our stuff (suitcases packed for eight days) up the stairs to the third floor. When we left for dinner about 30 minutes later the elevator was working. When we returned from dinner we discovered the toilet would not flush. We called and reported this at about 8:30 pm. We were told that maintenance would come. We left for “The Shining Tour” at 9. No one had come. Upon our return the toilet still would not flush and no one had been there. Now it is 10:05. We called again and were told that job had been removed so it should have been fixed. We were also told maintenance leaves at 10. We asked for a new room but were told all were full. So now we are in a $400 room with a toilet that doesn’t work. We had to leave the room and use a bathroom down the hall accessed with a room key. We then asked for a plunger to fix it ourselves. Front desk had no idea where one was, but “we will look for one.” The guy on the phone said we could have 10 percent back on the room due to not having a working toilet. About 11:15 pm a guy showed up with a plunger and a black plastic bag. He said it was found in the basement. This was absolutely ridiculous and a horrible experience for a “luxury” hotel. We tried to fix it the best we could but ended up having to use the hall bathroom again. Upon checking out at aspire I explained to the woman on duty our difficulties so they would know not to give that room to anyone until it is fixed. She was unconcerned and said, “Oh, ok.” I will not stay at the Stanley again. The Shining Tour was not great. They are reaching very hard for some connection when there really is nothing but Stephen King spent a night there. Don’t waste your money.

Overall the stay at the Stanley was okay. The hotel is historic and beautiful, but no a/c, the beds are coming apart and not deep cleaned between guest. We found q-tips on the floor, not ours. The hotel needs more amenities for the cost. The biggest negative is, anyone can pay $10 per car and explore the hotel, it makes it very congested for the hotel guests and not a true four-star hotel. It’s not inclusive at all, and takes away from the luxury. That’s my biggest complaint. If you do stay here, I highly suggest going to the underground for a magic show. It’s amazing.

Lacey, at the front desk, went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable and memorable stay! We had some issues with the appliances and overall electricity in our room, but Lacey treated us with friendliness and professionalism to resolve our concerns. The hotel grounds are gorgeous, much like the surrounding Estes Park, and we will plan on returning at some point in the future! Thank you Lacey!

We stayed in a King Room at The Stanley Aspire and paid $341 per night—an outrageous price for a room that felt like a postage stamp. It had a king bed, two nightstands, and a narrow table at the foot of the bed, with just enough space to walk around. There was no chair, no closet, and no place to put luggage. No seating, nowhere to unpack, and no comfort beyond the bed itself. To make matters worse, we were there on a warm June day, and the air conditioner couldn’t cool the room below 75 degrees. One small window opened about four inches, offering little relief. I went to the front desk to complain, and the woman said someone would come within an hour. No one came. When I returned later, a sign on the door said “Office Closed.” I called the front desk and got voicemail. I called again and reached someone, who again promised help within an hour. Still, no one came and nothing changed. By then, it was too late. The room was hot and stuffy, and I got very little sleep. Early the next morning, I called again—voicemail. I called once more and reached a woman who said she was getting off in 10 minutes. I explained that we were heading out for the day and asked to be moved if the AC couldn’t be fixed. She took my number and said she would leave a message for the next shift. I never got a call. Nothing changed. That evening happened to be cooler due to rain, but by the time we checked out at 10 AM the next morning, the room temperature had already climbed back up to 76 degrees. The air conditioning simply could not cool the space. After reading a review from a year ago with the same AC problem, I can only assume that everyone involved knew the AC didn’t work and chose to pass the buck, hoping we’d just go away. The room was uncomfortable, the service was unresponsive, and the experience was frustrating from start to finish. I will never return to The Stanley and would never recommend it to anyone.

It's the Stanley.... Anyone leaving a bad review is just complaining to complain. It's super famous and you should know all about it and it's quirks. Wonder why no rude people's thermostats work.... So I stayed there in the 90s as a kid and the guests that are there in a different way were not happy at all about the wall paper. My mom screamed at me because it's all I could talk about. Went back a few times since and they still don't like the walls y'all. Maybe ask them before you do the walls next time. All the times I've been there they just want to talk about the walls and decor. There's gotta be a psychic interior designer around somewhere. It's really distracting when that's all the talk about for decades. Other than cranky spirits I love it. It really is spooky and beautiful. Stephen King really should gift them the renovations they need since he did make so much money because of that place. Sure it's not the 5 star luxury lodge it longs to be and definitely could be but like just look at the view and enjoy your vacation and the extra amenities this place has that no one else in the area does. Do not miss the tour even if you don't stay here it's really the best ghost tour I've ever done. They always bore me or I want to tell them they are willing but the Stanley one is top notch
