It is a couple of years since we have stayed at Douglas Park so we were looking forward to returning. We were not disappointed. We received a lovely welcome from Ken. The room was beautiful with a lovely sea view. Everywhere was spotless clean. We didn’t want for anything! The breakfast set us up well for the day.

We stayed at Douglas Park for the first time when we got married in Dunoon in 2015, and this is what we wrote in their guest book: "A perfect room with a perfect view, perfect breakfasts, and of course perfect hosts - we couldn't have picked a better place to stay for our little wedding, and we feel like we've made new friends here. Thank you!" This year we celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary in Scotland, and of course we had to visit DP again, too (our third time there). It was like coming home. The welcome was warm, our room was as lovely as ever, and the breakfasts were still amazing. Thank you again, Ken!

We stayed here for 5 nights last week and we couldn't have been better looked after. Ken is the perfect host whose attention to details in his home means that every need is catered for. The rooms are spotless and comfortable and the breakfasts are fantastic. Delicious local produce really set us up for the day. We have to say that what made our stay really special was Ken himself. His humour, kindness and sensitivity towards others shines through, plus he is a mine of local information! A great ambassador for the area.

I was back again on business and, yet again, this was a relaxing and enjoyable stay. There is nowhere else I would want to stay when visiting in the area. Again, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommended! I'll be back again, I'm sure.

This truly is an exceptional guest house, and we have stayed in quite a few over the years. The building is a gem with high ceilings, a stately staircase and original features. The welcome from Ken and help we received from the moment we arrived set us up for the next 3 nights. He suggested a location for our first evenings dinner ( always a dilemma on arriving in a new place we find )and on taking up his recommendation , he booked it for us. It was a good choice too.. We had a comfortable downstairs room which looks to the rear, that had its own separate bathroom, but this was only a few steps away , was spacious and there were dressing gowns in the wardrobe ; A thoughtful touch. With no traffic noise . We slept well. The residents lounge has a lovely sea view, so we made good use of it each evening, watching the boats coming and goings and yes.. saw the porpoises. Breakfasts are superb.. lovely fresh fruit salads, yoghurts seeds etc. Not being Full scottish eaters we found The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs particularly delicious. Ken truly is a superb host who truly loves where he lives , who has created a relaxing, restful , luxurious oasis, that is worthy of an Alastair Sawday listing. We hope to return soon..

Lovely stay here from start to reluctant leave time, Ken is a friendly host who gave us lots of ideas for places to visit, eat etc. Our room was gorgeous with a sea view & very roomy with lots of extras. Breakfast was quality produce cooked very well, Ken even chilled our wine that we left in our room while we were out and about. We plan to return as soon as we can.
