Dunedin Larnachs Castle Hotels

The castle is in a manor on a peninsula (the gate of the manor has access control), and there are no people in the castle. It is a museum-type attraction. Both the stable and the lodge are on the same estate as the castle. Stable and lodge are two kinds of accommodation. I live in lodge. The room has a very old smell, but the view from the window is excellent. The bedroom and bathroom are quite small, and there is no living room, which is inconvenient for people with a lot of luggage. There are gift shops, restaurants and the main body of the castle on the castle side. Breakfast is a buffet, which is quite satisfactory and there are not many choices. In addition, the Wi-Fi is not easy to use at night. I don't know if it is because too many people use it. In short, it is a relatively new experience, the environment and scenery are very good, it is convenient to visit the castle, and other aspects are relatively ordinary as a hotel itself. Another point is that you have to drive to the island. The visibility at night is not good, and the surrounding guardrails are also quite low. If you drive, it is best to go during the day.

The apartment was unable to move in after 8pm, and when we really couldn't get to the hotel before 8pm, the hotel asked us to arrive at the hotel before 10pm, but a late check-in fee of $30 would be charged. Said that if you still can't arrive before ten o'clock, there is no way to check in, and the room rate is non-refundable... So if you choose this hotel, you must be optimistic about the time! As for the room facilities, it is clean, and there are induction cookers, microwave ovens and tableware, so you can make simple meals by yourself

Parking is convenient and the room is not bad. The front desk is a little beauty from Harbin. The conversion plug we brought was forgotten in the last hotel and borrowed the conversion plug from the front desk. Thank you very much.

I relocated to Dunedin with my two children. At first Tina Meihana (the owner) seemed lovely and very accommodating but the longer you stay the quicker you realize it's all a front. Regular drinking, pot smoking and violence occurs here and the majority of it is the owners and staff. I was kicked out with my children late at night for simply calling the police out of fear for our safety when one resident assaulted another. While the police were there, Tina ran upstairs and assaulted me in the bedroom, she had already tried breaking down the toilet door to get to me and my injured friend and her ex-Partner (Mason) who is one of the managers, tried grabbing my phone from my hand while I was on a call to the police. The only one who seemed to be reasonable was Tina's partner Maui but unfortunately Tina and Mason were often too drunk to see any sense or acted like it was a high school playground and wouldn't listen to reason. This place is not run like a business at all! On a daily basis they are drinking, smoking pot and getting into verbal and physical arguments with each other as well as the residents (despite Tina being pregnant and having her own young children there she seemed to be the ring leader of the majority of the problems and didn't think twice about assaulting others, male or female). They have not cleaned at all during the level 4 lockdown which means that place could be crawling with all sorts of lethal bacteria. They allow men to walk around exposing themselves in front other residents and children. I am glad to have my children out of that environment, it's not safe for children and I heavily believe Tina shouldn't be a mother if she is to continue carrying on behaving like that! Absolutely appalled!! Surveillance footage has been handed to the police!

Stayed here for 3 nights, first time here and I was suitably impressed. After having stayed at Beechwood, Distinction, Quest and many of the hotels in Dunedin I thought this one didn’t deserve to be overlooked - and I’m really glad I chose it. From the friendly ‘reception’ staff (a pleasantly untypical reception btw), the wonderful cafe staff and food where I dined twice to the beautiful design and layout of the hotel My room was amazing… spacious, modern, reasonably quiet and everything I needed was there (apart from a microwave but I can live without that). Once I figured out how to work the TV I was all set, I really wish more hotels allowed you to watch Netflix, YouTube etc on the TV! Even the coffee station was unique. I can’t wait to return next year, thank you!

The hotel has a variety of bed type rooms with separate or non-independent washrooms, and rooms with separate washrooms have wash basins. The location is very good, the Auckland University campus and the city, train station, etc. can be reached on foot, the train station is a little far away, about 1.6 km. There is a simple breakfast sharing in the common area, coffee, hot chocolate and bread, instant noodles and more. No extra beds, children can rent a room in a family hotel, free parking. Although the room is a bit old, the whole building is very historical, and the landlord is very kind.
