When shown the room I enquired if it could possibly be changed. The outlook was grim, over the kitchens which was noisy and there was a strong smell of food. We changed to a much better room the next day. Breakfast was O.K but the evening meal was basic. Pudding was the same every night, cut up fruit, a blancmange type of pudding or small pastry squares. On really hot days a scoop of ice-cream would have been perfect. We decided to eat out one evening and asked if we could swop dinner for lunch. Lunch was actually much cheaper but they said it was not allowed. There was no negotiation which was bad P.R. as most hotels will do this. The cheapest bottle of wine was 30 euros which I thought excessive. On the plus side, Ljuba, the cleaner on floor one was very good, friendly and looked after us very well. The hotel was just over the road from a pleasant beach which was very good for swimming. The hotel pool was very good and in September we always found a sunbed. I think that they need to be a bit more imaginative with the evening meal to ensure that clients return.

This hotel's main fault was it had bad air conditioning. We called for help and ours worked fairly well but others in our group had issues with the heat in their rooms. We had a dinner buffet which was so so without many choices of food nor very tasty food but the dining area was pleasant. We had a nice view from our room which could see the sea in the distance. And the walk to the old town section of Dubrovnik was fairly easy down hill. There was a bus #4 to get back up the hill to the hotel from the nearby square where the Pile Gate access is located. You first buy a ticket at the little kiosk across from where the bus picks you up for just under 2 euros. The hotel's pool had delightfully cool water.

We rented a studio apar**ent for our 10 day stay in Dubrovnik and were delighted with our choice. We were able to stow our luggage safely when we arrived, and were conveniently located near the Pile Gate and everything we needed. The apar**ent is a great location as you can get there without climbing dozens of steps to come and go. This was important for my spouse. Many apar**ents inside the wall involve a walk of several flights of rocky steps (especially on the east side of the city), so we felt fortunate with our choice. Our unit was on the first floor as well, so that helped even more. The unit was clean, well appointed, and it was nice to have windows that open for fresh air. If you need a view out your window, do not stay anywhere inside the old city. You will be in a very cozy neighborhood with narrow streets. We enjoyed the sounds of the street below, and it was quiet at night so our sleep was not disturbed. There is a washing machine and dryer available to guests (no charge, and they provide laundry soap). The unit has everything else you will need. Restaurants, a market, and gelato are all within easy walking distance. Enjoy the experience.

This is a lovely hotel, clean rooms with good supply of hot water & easy to control air-con, clean pool, free pool towels and free safe (no deposit required), pleasant and welcoming staff. Great breakfast with lots of choice. The hotel kindly prepared us a packed breakfast one morning as we had booked an early trip. Also they were quite happy to provide us with an early morning call. Live music is provided several nights a week in the pool area and is good, and not overly loud. Poolside food is excellent and not too pricey. There are vending machines in the hotel so you can get cold drinks and snacks at any time, however they do appear to be a bit temperamental. I was concerned before I arrived after seeing some reports of construction work outside the hotel but in my opinion it has little impact on the hotel. The work is being carried out to the harbour road, so there is some disruption to the view of the boats and beyond from the hotel pool area. However in terms of noise, we experienced none during our stay other than a couple of lorries passing along the road. In terms of access, if you turn left outside the hotel gate, you can easily walk into the town on a well made road and footpath. If you turn right, it is rough underfoot and not suitable for high heeled shoes or pushchairs, but anyone wearing flat shoes and able-bodied is fine (but to be honest, there's little need to turn right). The buses run frequently into Old Dubrovnik (2 euros each way) and the bus stop is about a 10 mins amble up the hill on the roundabout (slightly less if you use the steps on the left after the hotel as it's a short cut). Plenty of restaurants up the hill and across the road to the pedestrian walkway to the beach. Lots of choice.

The location is very good, in the center of the old city, the flat square on the north side of the main road, unlike many other hotels that need to climb many stairs. There is an inconspicuous green door under a restaurant with the name of the hotel at the door. After entering the door, go directly to the second floor to the front desk.
Mixed men and women, said to be 12 people shelf bed, but the actual ~ I live in 5 shelves bed can accommodate 10 people. There is a lamp hanging on the wall and two sockets at the head of the bed. A thin quilt and a bath towel are provided. There are lockers but no locks, so either bring your own locks or carry valuables with you. The toilet and bathroom are divided into men and women. It is more troublesome to put things without hooks in the bathroom. There is a small kitchen behind the toilet where you can cook by yourself, there is a patio next to the kitchen, and there are two lounge chairs to rest. A day of about 20 euros for the poor travel student party is a good choice.
Note: Since the restaurant downstairs will be noisy until late, then the clock in the old town will start ringing at 6 o'clock in the morning.

Hotel Ivka is close to the city walls and 2.3 km to the city walls tour and the old town, though its 20 km from Dubrovnik airport towards the city. The first impression of the hotel is that it is clean and tidy. The room is spacious and bright for a hotel.
Best of all, the breakfast is awesome. It's the best among the 18 days after entering Europe.. The food cooked with vegetables is really delicious.

Wonderful service and accommodation for American Xpress members, upgrade upon arrival, credit for the stay and access to the lounge, we’d definitely return to this hotel … wonderful friendly services by all staff, we received excellent services by towels beach staff, car parking support team, spa staff to room service and all front desk team were super friendly and supporting … incredible welcome warm welcome for AMX members, restaurants onsite too were superb … and the “tea time” in the lounge was just wonderful … including the staff ….again we’d return in a heart beat to this wonderful hidden gem of Croatia! Room was super clean, wonderful effort in making us feel welcomed and special …Highly recommending this hotel …
