We've enjoyed a stay of 3 nights at the Running Horses and can thoroughly recommend. All staff were so kind and helpful, the room was spotless and very comfortable. The idyllic position of this 16th century inn means there is no car park, but this was never a problem as always plenty of adjacent parking at the road side. The food in particular is excellent, imaginative and delicious. Special thanks to the mystery person who so kindly settled our dinner bill. We were totally astonished and couldn't believe the kindness of strangers. Please be assured that we shall pass this gesture on, it certainly helps to make the world a happier place.

Had a super lunch here after a lovely walk at Boxhill. Staff were really friendly and attentive and food was very tasty! Sat outside in the sunshine too which was a bonus. We had the fish sandwich, prawns on toast, and chicken club sandwich. Clear plates all round. We’ll be back!

We had a great meal and experience here. Very reasonably priced food, excellent portion size and wine selection. We caught the train from London and were in the countryside in 30min then had a 20min walk from Boxhill & Westhumble station to work up the appetite. All round great experience and lovely team who looked after us. Will be back!

This place keeps getting better ! Lovely old pub in a beautiful setting, proper beer, excellent menu, outstandingly good food, wrapped up in first class, friendly service… hard not to enjoy that ! Went with family, we all had different things, everyone loved it. Beer excellent, and a very good wine list.

We were a group of 10 having Sunday lunch after a morning walk. The pub was very accommodating to changes in our number beforehand, and offered a warm welcome when we arrived. Despite being busy, the service was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed our meals - noted in particular was the Roast Belly Pork and the Baked Hake; and for dessert - the Rhubarb & Almond Tart. We'll definitely return.

Kasia was amazing. I have a number of allergies and when we arrived she had prepared a menu specifically for me. Food was great and absolutely a pub that went above and beyond - will certainly go again Lovely atmosphere on a busy Friday evening too

Very unwelcoming if you only want a drink, no where to sit indoors in what should be the bar area, every table is reserved for dinners even though there is a huge restaurant area, it seems that these days pubs are only interested in serving food…This isn’t what a pub should be!!!

It is the third time here, because of family matters. It is allways nice to stay here. The rooms are cosy and nice. Even if i just had two different rooms. I prefer the one without a carpet therefor the bath in the other room is really great, old but also modern. The food fine. I am pretty sure i am gone come again.
