First of all, the hotel accepts foreigners (as of March 2024). The location is good, not too far from either Shaolin or Songyang Academy areas (the latter is accessible by bus 6 nearby). The room was fine, however, but apart from perhaps needing a bit of a renovation, there were two problematic aspects. First, there was only one free outlet in the room, and it so happened that even it didn't work properly. The other issue is the air conditioning system - you cannot set it, just turn it on or off, so in winter if you want any ventilation (as there's no window), you have to bear the strong heating. That said, for the price that's understandable, and it's not such a big deal if you're staying for a day or two. The staff was very kind. The free breakfast was very nice, a basic Chinese buffet, but one could eat well and it was fresh. Overall, a great budget option, if you don't mind the aforementioned issues.

Very bad!
The whole room exudes an old, miserable and dirty smell (I have stayed in old hotels before, but this is the first time that the hygiene is so bad)
The carpet and curtains are dirty as if they have not been cleaned for 50 years
The whole room and the whole hotel are full of cigarette smoke
The bed is too hard and too small (it is difficult for two people to sleep on it), the pillows and quilts are as thin as paper and very uncomfortable
The metal parts of the bathroom are all rusted
The mineral water provided by the hotel is a small bottle of Yibao, the first two bottles are free, and the third bottle starts to charge 3 yuan per bottle
The condition of this hotel and this room is not worth the price
