Hotels in Datong South Railway Station/Fantawild Adventure, Datong

I just moved into this hotel on 10 July 2025. The looks of the hotel was spacious. The crew and manager was friendly too. I had difficulty in booking some itenary that was in Beijing as it needed their number and they were friendly in assisting my request. The room when I entered was as I expected spacious and nicely designed, and the scenery was good. I like the tea set that was on the table set upon the tatami mat. It feel comfortable and I just seat there and brew myself some tea enjoying the window scenery. The breakfast was nice and tasty. Glad that I have chosen here. Will stay there again if I come to Datong.

When traveling around the world, most people choose Holiday Inn, and this time I did not disappoint with the Datong branch. Even though it was a little pricey during the short holiday, the price/performance ratio was still acceptable. Facilities: The hotel was newly opened in 2024, with large rooms and new facilities. It has a projection screen, a food delivery robot, and a shower, toilet and sink that are separated. Because the room is large enough, it does not seem cramped. Hygiene: The bedding, towels, etc. are all brand new and cleaned every day. Environment: It takes about ten minutes by taxi from Datong South Station. The location is good and it is easy to call a taxi during short holidays. Service: Service is the highlight of the hotel. Before check-in, a staff member will call to confirm the information and provide butler service, handling various issues throughout the process. The staff in check-in, dining, cleaning, etc. are very serious and responsible, and the experience is very good. Disadvantages: There are not many choices of dishes in the Chinese restaurant, and there is no dining in, only private rooms and delivery; there is no decoration smell in the room but there is a little smell in the toilet, but the room can be ventilated by opening the window.

A truly wonderful stay! I absolutely adored the traditional courtyard house. The owner's meticulous attention to detail was evident in the decor, with all the furniture crafted from genuine solid mahogany. The room amenities gave a very homely feel, featuring a solid wood bed, wardrobe, table and chairs, and a daybed. The toilet and shower were separate, and it even had a smart toilet. Everything was impeccably clean. Breakfast was fantastic! We received an incredibly warm welcome, making us feel like family.

I don't know why this hotel is so popular and fully booked. Maybe it's because it's part of the InterContinental chain... So the price I booked is a little higher (because the room is big), but everything is the normal standard of InterContinental and it didn't exceed my expectations. The hotel is close to the community and not easy to find. There are so many rooms and they are not easy to find. The front desk service is good, but the hotel hygiene needs to be improved. The towels in the room were a little dirty, so I asked the aunt to help change them. The toilet is really not easy to use, the flushing is very poor and often can't be flushed clean in one go... The breakfast is average, the knife-cut noodles are good

Overall, the hotel was nice and clean. The exact location was a bit hectic at first, but it was great for accessing all of the local attractions, including those outside the city. We also had multiple nights where other guests attempted to enter ours room assuming it was theirs. Though this wasn't the fault of the staff it just seemed very odd that there were always a lot of people around the various common areas (hallways, lobbies) that didn't seem to have any place to be. The staff also handed my passport to a random woman standing to the side (i hope she was an employee who hadn't started her shift yet, though from how she presented herself she was just someone trying to check in faster?) to try to find the necessary pages needed for me to check in. I knew what pages they were looking for, however, they decided to hand it to a random person rather than my wife or myself. This left a bad impression upon me, but other than that, the staff were pleasant and professional.

The room is very good and big. There is no indoor pollutants such as formaldehyde. Thumbs up! The mattress is very comfortable! The default pillow was a bit high at first, but later I asked the room service to replace it with a latex pillow. It was more comfortable to sleep. I could see the fireworks show of Fantawild Park on Saturday night, which happened to be my child's birthday, so I was very happy! The attitude of the front desk service was also very good, and there were souvenirs when I left. Thumbs up! I will continue to stay here next time I go to Datong. Everything was perfect on this trip!

A very cost-effective hotel! Although the hotel is far from the ancient city, it is very close to museums and art galleries. Wanda Plaza is across the road, where there are two famous old restaurants in Datong, which are very convenient for eating, drinking and having fun. It is suitable for self-driving travel, and the underground parking lot is large. The hotel's buffet is great, especially the knife-cut noodles, mutton offal noodles and mutton dumplings, which are very authentic. The hotel room is well soundproofed and the whole hotel is very quiet. Of course, there are some shortcomings. For example, in the early April weather, the hotel room was extremely hot and dry, and the air conditioner did not provide cold air. It could only open the window 24 hours a day to dissipate heat, and the temperature control was not in place. The curtains in the room are behind a whole row of sofas. There are no smart facilities. You can only climb up the sofa to open and close the curtains, which is very inconvenient. The hotel twin room only has a single bed of 1.2 meters, and the double room is only 1.8 meters, which is not friendly to families with children. I hope to add a parent-child room with two beds, one large and one small.

The price is very high, the hot spring is not big but clean and hygienic, it has local bathing characteristics, the guests are basically regular customers, slow and comfortable. The back is also a major feature. It costs less than 100 yuan to enjoy an hour of squatting, pressing, pinching, and flushing. Basically, they are all done in a deep sleep. Unfortunately, there are too many people in the queue, and I can't wait for more than an hour. I can leave my hope to the next time.

Facilities: Large TV, smart curtains, Bluetooth speakers, high-speed Wi-Fi, all these configurations that enhance the sense of happiness are available. I was especially moved by the hotel's service: Although it is a newly opened hotel, the two managers, Manager Wang and Manager Ming, are very dedicated, considerate, and hands-on, with a warm and efficient service attitude. We had a great experience. Next time I come to the city of Datong, I will definitely choose here again! Highly recommended to friends who pursue cost-effectiveness and quality. Five-star praise
