Yungang Jianguo Hotel

I booked this hotel based on the reviews and the 5-star ranking. However, the fact is so disappointing. The smoke odor is everywhere, the hallway, elevator, and the room. The room temperature was 29 degrees but the air conditioning was not working, and even the fan could not be turned on. So after a night of enduring heat and odor, we canceled the remaining days and moved to another hotel. We had a breakfast in this hotel before leaving and found the food was also disappointing.

Excellent hotel with great staff and great service. Location good, about a 15-20 min walk or 9 minute Didi ride to the ancient city. Rooms clean, extremely comfortable and with all the necessary amenities. Breakfast had a wide range of choices, the local Datong options are especially good. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

When we arrived we were given the wrong room in B tower with single beds, we had to go back downstairs and show the booking again to request the correct double room in A tower. The rooms and amenities are old, and the fridge is broken. I called reception who told me to bring any items I want to cool down to the reception and use their fridge, when I asked if we can swap the broken fridge for a working fridge, they said all of the fridges are like this. They won't admit the fridges are all broken, but all of the fridges in the hotel are warm and won't make your food / beverages cold. The hotel is in dire need of an upgrade, and they need to replace the fridges.

Enjoyed staying and hence an extension of the previous stay. Excellent front office with great suggestions and support.

Strongly recommend, very well managed 5 stars hotel. The location is convenient, staff are friendly and well-trained. The rooms are spacious and clean, very comfortable indeed. Will definitely stay here again if coming to Datong.

You have to get a cab around Da Tong as there is no subway. The hotel was at a very central area and the location was great !
