I feel sad to give a medium score. The young man who .met me was polite, the young lady I saw a couple of times was friendly and helpful. Maybe it was because there weren't many other guests, but the hotel service seemed minimalistic,sometimes with no staff about. It is a shame because the hotel has lots of potential with its artistic design of the stairs and marble floors, its antique exterior, and proximity to the Ancient city and temples. Whilst the stairs are artistic and the staff helped me with my luggage, without a lift, it is not really geared to the elderly. Maybe the taxi driver dropping me off in the cold evening 10 minutes away set me off on the wrong foot.. Obviously, this was no fault of the hotel Dui bu qi..

Datong surrounding the famous hotel Phoenix Pro Court, 369 purple mud, Long Juxiang, Northern Wei Jia Yan. The inn is all wooden structure, mainly family room, overall is the South Park style. The room has air conditioning, water heater, TV, smart toilet, WIFI and other equipment set up, will be enthusiastic service to welcome your arrival.

Small and nice hotel, small but adequate room. Our room had a bathroom downstairs and stairs to get to the bed.
The bed was very hard, the mattress was very thin, but we slept well.
The shower was magnificent, although it was one of those open ones, and the toilet had jets.
They leave you bottles of water every day and they gave us a small piece from the little vase shop they have as soon as we arrive, very nice.
The only drawback is that the receptionists hardly speak English and they couldn't tell us the best way to get to the temple and the grottos, or prices or anything. The only thing we got was that we could go by taxi or bus. The next day we tried to get them to tell us where to catch the bus and we weren't able to understand each other, although they are nice, the language is a significant barrier.

Hotel is in a great location in the old city, being in front of the Bell Tower and 2 minutes' walk from Huayan Monastery and 5 minutes from the Nine Dragon Wall. Being in a pedestrianized area means there is no traffic noise and is near many restaurants and shops. Rooms are nicely appointed and very clean with a hot and strong shower. The reception is very friendly and helpful and was organized a car and driver for me to visit both Yungang Grottos and Hanging Temple in a single day. The lady at the reception even lend me a winter hat as she feels I wasn't appropriately dressed for the cold weather. Will definitely stay again.

My family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) stayed at 陆合景客栈 for 2 nights when we visited Datong.
The hotel was very beautiful, and the family room was excellent. The beds we comfortable, and the room was very well equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The hotel was very nicely decorated to match the atmosphere of the ancient city.
I would like to especially give commendations to Ms 任红霞 and Mr 付强. Both of them provided exceptionally good service during our stay and made sure that all our questions and needs were fulfilled. They are exceptional staff of the hotel and I hope the hotel management rewards them for their hard work.
Highly recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking for accommodation in Datong ancient city.

The hotel's location is right next to the Drum Tower, and it's in the center of the ancient city, so it's very convenient to go anywhere. I was originally worried that old hotels would have old facilities, but after checking in, I found that it didn't exist at all, and the hygiene was very good. The service is even better, from the front desk to the restaurant, to every service staff I met, they were very warm and polite. The hotel restaurant has good food, and many locals come to eat, and there are small portions, which are very friendly to small groups of people with small appetites. Breakfast is even more recommended, with knife-cut noodles on site, and a special lady making latte art for you! It's decided, I'll stay here when I go to Datong in the future!

Vienna Hotel is located in a good location, within walking distance to the ancient city, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Nine Dragon Wall, etc. The hotel hardware is not very good. The shower head is just a small one, the water is not hot, the room soundproofing is not good, the service staff is not very enthusiastic, there are no disposable slippers when we checked in, the parking space is underground, which is a bit far, and you have to carry your suitcases and bags to the underground parking space, and there are a few steps before taking the elevator. The advantage of choosing this hotel is that it is close to the ancient city. Just for reference.

The hotel located in the ancient city of Datong right in front of the Huayan Monastery is wonderful. Spotlessly clean, furnished with style and elegance. The owners are very kind. Fresh fruit every day and ready to fulfill our wishes and requests.The beds are very comfortable and the linen is of excellent quality. Bathroom toiletries are provided. If you visit Datong you absolutely must not miss it!

Nanshe is a brand new hotel located in the downtown area. The building itself is brand new, modeled in chinese traditional courtyard style. The area is quiet but close to attractions and shopping streets 大同不夜城. It is located next to the datong ancient city walls north gate, within walking distance to nine dragons wall, huayan temple, shanhua temple and the Southeast Yi Historical and Cultural Block. There is also a bus stop outside that goes round the area.Cab fare is less than 30 rmb to Yungang Grottoes and Datong south highspeed train station.
Friendly and attentive staff checking for allergy if any. The owner was kind enough to meet me at the train station. Breakfast is simple fare consists of millet congee with side dishes, tasty noodles in warm broth, toasts and local pastries etc. Freshly made coffee from a semi auto coffee maker. Hotel serves light sweet soup to guests before dinner. Free fruits and cookies in the lobby. Washing machine and dryer are avail for use. My room has an overhead projector with wide selection of movies. Clean and comfortable. Room has many wall sockets for charging. Bathroom is huge. Deposit 200 rmb as all the facilities are brand new. Enjoyable stay. Datong is delightful a comination of the old and new.

NnottinghillMercure is considered ”high-end” in a certain residential club system, but the standard of high-end should not only be about hardware (which is okay overall), software services are even more important.
When I first arrived at the hotel, a man (Figure 1) and a woman were checking in guests at the front desk, and I was the next in line. After the boy finished his check-in, he looked at me and went to the side to instruct the girls. I didn't know if it was my turn, so I continued to queue up. After waiting for a while, I became a little impatient (it was almost 3 o'clock when I checked in, and I was a little tired), so I asked, ”Can it be processed?” The boy in black replied, ”Yes, it can be processed!” Then I wanted to know, you saw me queuing, and after the previous person finished, you ignored me and went to do something else. Do I have to ask you before it is my turn?
Later, I met him outside the room again. When I mentioned the previous question about the charging pile, he lowered his head to look at his phone and didn't look at me the whole time. Is this the standard for hotel service staff training?
There is another detail. When I walked out of the room, I saw a whole truck of welcome fruits. I thought they would be delivered later, but later I found out that there was no fruit for us. There are different levels of this, and this is the first time I've encountered this.
When I finally left, the young man from the engineering department whom I met in the elevator and the several staff members who processed my check-out at the front desk were very polite.

GGuest UserI cannot rate Tangfang Courtyard more highly. I almost don't want to write a review and reveal it to more travellers! The photos are accurate of the elegant, beauty of this courtyard based hotel. The room was high ceilinged with wooden rafters, smart, elegant shower, bowls of fruit, spoiling bedding. It was bang in the centre of the old city, yet completely tranquil in a gorgeously authentic, but quiet street. We were greeted warmly and cosily by Yezi, who welcomed us with drinks and fruit, and really couldn't do enough for us. My son is fluent in Mandarin but I don't speak a word yet still, she was eager to help me make my dairy free coffee in the morning, quickly sorted us a great, appropriately priced driver and comfortable car to go to the hanging monastery and grottoes the next day. This is unique in that is in an authentic building, elegant, yet cosy family atmosphere with a kitchen/dining room where all guests eat round the same table. The last effort Yezi and her colleagues made was to source me some of the very striking vinegar jars unique to Datong at a moment's notice, the morning we were leaving. Bearing in the mind, this was done via Google Translate, I cannot thank you them all enough. They made our stay in Datong memorable, beyond the obvious wonders of the UNESCO sites. Thank you again to all at Tangfang Courtyard.

SSirikornNice place, Nice location; you can walk to the Ancient town, I took along time to catch nice scene along the city wall, park and canal. To get the hotel from Datong South Railway Station by bus no.31 from the bus station side(the area is connected), take around 30 minutes to get there (Yungang Jianguo hotel, the hotel is opposite, only 2 CNY, many food and minimart around there. There is Muslim food there if need(next to the entrance of C(behind the building). Nice service, self check-in, clean room and relaxing. the owner, you should to contact the owner before arrive, she so friendly and always help you, she suggested us about the famous local food and restaurants(Thank you so much). If you need to buy some necessary item and cannot buy at the around minimart, you can walk to the Yonghui Superstore by East side (the next junction) turn right to Yuhe West rd. (At the corner). From the hotel tobget Yungang Grottoes, you can take bus no. 31 (Yungang Jianguo side), get off at Shi Li Dian Cun Xi ( West Shilidian village), cross to another side and catch bus no.12 to the terminal stop(is Yungang Grottoes. Take 1 hour or 1.30 to get there.

The homestay is in the ancient city, and the transportation is very convenient! The beautiful girl who received us also came to the airport to pick us up. The weather was very cold but the service was very warm! The hotel is a villa area in Datong Ancient City, and the environment is very good! The room hardware is absolutely five-star, very clean, the mattress is very comfortable, and the hair dryer is Days! Both the design style and the hotel service are unforgettable! 🏠💖
The room is very large, with floor heating and very warm. The beautiful boss is very nice. There is a breakfast menu every night, and you can choose it yourself. I compared many homes in the ancient city. Their home is very cost-effective, the room is very large, and there are two 1.8-meter beds. It is completely enough for the family. The mattress is very comfortable and I sleep well at night!
After arriving at the hotel, there are welcome snacks and fruits. When I return to the room at night, there are warm stomachs and fruits. GGuest UserI did enough research before coming here and saw this B&B. I called for consultation at nearly 10 o'clock in the evening and was extremely patient in explaining. After arriving, I was not disappointed. The two children loved it. The aunt would usually lock the door, so the children could Feel free to play in the yard. When we were about to arrive, we told the time. Auntie turned on the air conditioner in advance and prepared fruit tea, which was super heart-warming. Breakfast was also extremely rich every day, and it was very cozy for the whole family to sit in the yard and eat. This B&B is right next to the commercial street. You can go shopping when you go out, but you can't hear the noise when you are in the yard. It is very close to Zini and Longjutang. It can be reached in a few minutes on foot. At night, it is just a short walk away. You can go to the city wall, admire the lights, and ride a bicycle together as a family. Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple are also nearby and can be reached on foot. Finally, I must say that the aunties at the B&B are all super nice. They are very nice and kind in both morning and evening shifts. I will definitely recommend this to my friends and will stay here again next time.

GGuest UserExcellent. Done in the traditional hotel style but with very modern in-room amenities. Bathroom is clean and private, with nice shower including good quality—free flow—shampoo and bodywash, clean toilet and a proper door (no glass bathrooms here!). It’s so hard to find a hotel room like this these days. Most importantly, all the staff were totally amazing, and the manager is so friendly and keen to help and can speak some English which makes things all the easier. There are quite a few shaokao and noodle places around the hotel, and importantly, the snowman drink place (蜜雪冰城) is not too far away! The hotel is just a couple of Ks south of the most popular entrance to the amazing ancient wall (大同古城), and in the other direction, about five hundred metres to another nice park called Mingtan Park where I flew my new drone for the first time ever while a local man practiced perfectly his Taoist meditation completely undeterred by the annoying whirring sound of the drone! My only regret is not planning more than a single night here. There’s so much more to Datong than just the Yungang Grottoes and the Hengshan Hanging Temple (though they are both totally spectacular!), so stay a couple of nights at least if you can.

First of all, our deepest gratitude to Yang wen yuan - 杨文元.
When booking from Europe, we did not realise correctly the time required to get to the caves and to the hanging monastery (a must view when in Datong).
We thought that by using public transport we could manage to do both in a short period of time. So wrong!
We arrived and Yang wen yuan - 杨文元 reassured us and in less than 30 minutes he was able to help and book for us a private car for the next day. He made our stay unforgettable. Thanks a lot from both of us if you are reading !

GGeorgeI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries.
The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included.
The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride.
My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room.
The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily.
If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn.
*I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out.

AAirborn63The hotel is situated not far from the old walled town and equal distance to the shopping area. Formerly a Holiday Inn now independent.
The rooms are large and comfortable with good work desk and wifi. Comfortable bed gives good rest. The fridge had been removed but there is kettle and plenty of water, every day some fruit was delivered to the room which I appreciated.
Hotel has gym, swimming pool and two restaurant, given the price it was very good value for money and I would happily stay again.
