They helped organise the taxi for me to go visit places. Amazing place to stay with these amazing people. I sure will return some day.

First of all, when I checked in, the front desk lady found a room for me while reciting the notes I had put in the order. It was a very good first impression! The bedding in the room was very comfortable and the bathroom layout was reasonable. The shower was big and comfortable. Fruits and crispy shark were given as a gift when turning down the bed at night. The location of the hotel is quite good. It is very close to Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Nine Dragon Wall and other attractions. It is also a very good experience to walk through the ancient city. Moreover, the hotel restaurant tastes good and the service is good. I stayed for three days and had dinner in the hotel every day. I didn't need to go to the Internet celebrity restaurant next to it. I had a blissful stay at Tangyan Courtyard - every part of it was smooth (including the dreaded passport check-in, which they didn't bat an eyelid at) and there were so many unexpected details. The bath was great (and there was enough hot water to fill it ok), the bed was one of the comfiest I've encountered in China, and the property is beautiful. It's definitely worth spending a night in Datong before or after the Yungang Grottoes to stay here.

The location is great, near the west gate in the ancient city (about five minutes walk), three minutes walk to Huayan Temple, five or six minutes walk to Sandaocai Bell Tower, and one minute to Huayan Temple bus station. During the May Day holiday, the ancient city is restricted by time, so the area near the bus station and the ancient city gate is very important. If you stay in the B&B hotels in the ancient street at the entrance of Huayan Temple, you have to walk out to take a bus (the pedestrian street car can't enter), so the location is really amazing. The scenic spots in the ancient city can be reached by bus. The first floor is the lobby (café), the second floor is the guest rooms, restaurant and courtyard, and there is a balcony on the second floor, where you can drink tea or coffee while looking at Huayan Temple. The breakfast is a set meal, very healthy, with fruits, eggs, vegetables, co**** grains, knife-cut noodles, bread slices, etc. The room we stayed in was not particularly large, but it was ok. Only the bathroom was slightly small, with complete bathroom supplies and clean hygiene. The service was very good, there was water and sea buckthorn juice in the room, and it was a very warm family. The child said that he would stay here again when he came to Datong next time, and he wanted to change to a room with a loft.

This hotel is really really beautiful - maybe even more than the photos show. Even though the style is traditional, everything inside the room is new, and there's even an elevator to take up bags. The location is amazing too, inside the old city wall, and I walked everywhere except the out of town attractions I visited. I think anywhere you stay in Datong you might have some communication challenges if you don't speak Chinese, but the owner here was very helpful once I put wechat on my phone to be able to talk with translation help, and he was able to arrange a last minute taxi out to the hanging temple after I had given up trying to get one. However, even though he was very helpful, he wasn't always around, and checking in was a bit difficult because there was nobody at the desk. I think this is only a problem if you don't speak Chinese though. Unfortunately, the wifi didn't always reach to my room on the 3rd floor well, and I could only get a trickle of hot water out of the shower. Overall though, I was super happy with this place and would recommend it!
