When I arrived at the ancient city of Dali at night, I went shopping and chose my favorite inn. I chose this inn. It is located in the alley of the ancient city. It is not noisy at night. The location is very central and it is very convenient to go to nearby attractions. Because the ancient city is full of gravel roads, it is difficult to carry luggage. The owner is also very nice. He helped us carry our luggage and sent us a lot of guides and recommendations for local food. The inn's courtyard is very comfortable and it's a good place to have a good night's rest. We chose the starry sky room and the tatami room on the third floor. The room was generally clean and the price was very affordable. We stayed for two nights in a row. There is a peculiar smell in the bathroom. I guess it's because the exhaust was not done properly.

The hotel is at the gate of the city. It is very convenient to travel. The environment is very clean. The handsome boss provides very good service. There is a small courtyard that is great. There are also 3 kittens that you can play with at will. They are very handsome. Highly recommended. The boss is very easy-going and you can ask him anything. I will add the photos later if they are not exported by the camera.

The staff were friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. Very satisfied with our room on the 3rd floor - which has an open area to enjoy the night sky and view of the city. Breakfast was simple but tasty.
Main downside was difficulty in finding the hotel entrance. The close proximity to Dali ancient town is very convenient. For some strange reason, aircon vent is directly above the bathtub - which meant baths were mainly in the shower. Recommend Mengjing Yayuan Hotel if great service, well-appointed rooms, and proximity to Dali ancient town are key considerations.

It’s a quiet beautiful hotel conveniently located at the old town. The non-smoking room is modern with Japanese toilet/bidet with adequate heating. Good wifi. Wide spread of breakfast. Service is good. We celebrated our friend’s birthday and the kitchen prepared longevity noodles for the birthday girl. Nice spacious environment, too. Check in & check out is fast. Highly recommendable hotel.

Very good location, right in ancient city, very good staff who is very accommodating. Facilities in room is good. Only thing we did not like us that the door to the toilet is transparent. Also although no smoking room, there is a strong cigarette smoke smell especially on the first day. As a result had difficulty sleeping and also causing me to develop cough as I am allergic to cigarettes smoke.

Stayed 2 nights. The taxi I took couldn't find the location. Called hotel, a lady came out and look for us as we were just at the back lane. The hotel area is quiet but a short walk out are surrounded by many small shops & restaurants.
Location is within short walk to Dali Ancient city. The night is more happening with more push carts on the streets. We were so.... lucky to experience 2 times of black out in the area. Whole area is pitch dark for almost 3 hours. People having dinner in darkness. There is a nice restaurant (see my picture) few steps from hotel. I asked hotel to help us to do a reservation as we couldn't try it on our 1st night as it was full. Really nice.
The room is clean & new. Breakfast is simple local food. It's the same breakfast for my 2 nights stay. We had a very comfortable stay there. The staff even gave us a box of biscuit as an apology for the black out.

I don't have a very good impression of Dali High-speed Railway Station, but the design of this homestay in Dali is very unique and great. Maybe I have never stayed in such a beautiful and unique homestay. The decoration in the room is full of details, which is quite in line with my personal aesthetics. I even want to decorate my home like this. If I go to Dali next time, I will probably stay in this homestay again.

A little gem just around the corner from the lively part of town. Inside the Ancient City and near the East Gate where buses leave for local and long distance destinations.
The young owners are very caring and make sure you have everything you need. They advise you on travel tips.
The room was very good, quiet, bright, modern, and had a very comfortable king size bed and a small table with two chairs.
Darkening blinds made sure it was dark at night.
The bathroom was quite roomy and modern.
The building has 3 floors, there is no elevator, but the owners help you with your luggage.
I highly recommend this lovely inn with its kind owners and would stay here again.

GGuest UserI think this is a really nice hotel and the people are very willing to help you. Breakfast is not a choice, but there is so much good food that comes on a tray. It's a walkable area but the area is incredibly expensive for China. If you're an expat, You should know some things...like 1st of all it's incredibly far from the train station about an hour and a 1/2. Secondly I don't think that the price for the queen suite is fair. I don't know what I can say but it was more expensive than a 4 mandarin grand carlton in other areas of China. While it was nice, the price doesn't reflect what you get. I'd stay here again, for sure, if I was going back to the area, but I would book one of their cheaper rooms. Service was great, but we got here (yes they tried to contact me in advance, but I don't speak much Chinese) and it was quite a puzzle in figuring how to get to the actual hotel. Luckily someone from another hotel was able to help. Once they knew we were here, they shuttled our luggage to the hotel and carried it to our rooms. The people working here are wonderful, but the area is very expensive and room prices for the queen suite are WAY more than you will get elsewhere in China.

I will come again next time and recommend it to more friends around me. The boss is very nice and the service is enthusiastic. There is also a lot of Pu'er tea to drink.

GGuest UserMy favorite homestay during my 10-day trip in Yunnan! It's really great! The room is spacious and clean, with dry and wet separation. The flowers in the yard are beautiful, and the sea view is unbeatable! I stayed here for another night and saw the sunrise, rainbow, and the full moon over Erhai Lake at night without leaving the house. It was really worth the trip! The breakfast was delicious, and it tasted even better with such a scenery! The boss and the housekeeper were very kind. They helped us contact a chartered car when we left for Lijiang! The kittens are also very cute and photogenic!

MMingliuDali was a relatively unfamiliar name to me. From the temporary station in Dali to the entrance of the Pullman Hotel, everything seemed indistinguishable from other small to medium-sized cities. However, during my two-day stay at this hotel, I encountered the attentive Beata at the front desk, the ever-smiling and enthusiastic Felix in the lobby, and the kind-hearted driver Xiao Bao. They truly made me feel at home.
Thanks to the recommendations of Felix and Beata, we were fortunate to have Xiao Bao as our guide for a day trip around Erhai Lake. Like many other tourists, we admired Cangshan Mountain, enjoyed the views of Erhai, tasted Xi Zhou Baba, got sunburnt, and took some mediocre photos—memories that might fade over time.
Perhaps I won’t often recall the stories Xiao Bao shared about the history of the Dali Kingdom, the transformation of Yunnan’s war god into a mythical creature, or the customs of the Bai people’s weddings, the local treasures, and peculiarities. But what Xiao Bao left us with was a deeper connection and more unforgettable memories.
I will remember how Xiao Bao passionately and vividly introduced his hometown to us. I will remember how he diligently and safely drove us for nine hours in one day, enduring the scorching sun while showing us the scenic spots around Erhai. He gave us a beautiful day. He added warmth and color to Cangshan and Erhai, bringing out an unparalleled shade of blue, perhaps the same deep indigo blue that the Bai people cherish.
Though our two days in Dali were short, they were filled with meaning, leaving me with a sense of longing as I departed. I believe I will remember Dali for a long time, and I will fondly think of the people I met here. I hope Dali’s sun is gentle, so Xiao Bao’s sensitive skin feels more comfortable. Thank you, Xiao Bao, and the Pullman staff who took care of us these past two days. Dali, I will often think of you. Because of you all, this place is truly wonderful and beautiful and memorable.

GGuest UserWe booked two rooms, one on the second floor and one for three people. The front desk saw that we were a big family and asked us if we wanted rooms next to each other. We were assigned a twin room, which was considered an upgrade. I looked at the area and price and it was a little more expensive. The room was clean and hygienic. Most importantly, the lighting was good. The elderly were very particular about the room. The room was bright and parking was convenient. The hotel parking lot was just downstairs. It was difficult to park in the hotel I stayed in the previous two days. I had to walk a long way. The cats and dogs in the hotel were also very friendly. It was the most comfortable place to stay. It's a pity that I have to leave Dali tomorrow.

Area : It’s located in a village near the city center 20 minutes and about the same to the ancient town. It’s per dominantly a Muslim town , so you will find lots of BBQ and Halal eats. Also shops for simple basics are available. The town comes alive after 5:00 pm.
Food : You can order Weimai like McDonald’s and KFC for example, nothing western around. We got breakfast daily, as you can see it’s a set menu. But we enjoyed it , the options were plenty. Also, every afternoon they brought an afternoon snack , super nice and a great touch.
Room / Hygiene: The room we picked had the balcony, it was spacious the bed was comfortable. The stand alone bath was clean, and the bathrooms as well. Toiletries and slippers provided. The hotel can use some changing or cleaning of rugs and dust a bit on the corners. Over all it was good.
Transport : You need to get a taxi to go places , or take the bus. Not sure if it’s because it’s summer but getting a taxi was not very pleasant. I took the bus #2 in front of the village to go to the mall. Easy 2 RMB you can use your apple map.
Customer Service : The customer service was nice , the ladies were helpful in finding a place for COVID test. Our last day they arranged a driver , it was hard to get transportation.
Over all , it was a nice stay I only picked this hotel due to the view. If you want more action stay near the ancient town.

Although the cloudy Erhai Lake is not so picturesque, it is also very healing to sit on the balcony or the rooftop restaurant to enjoy the vast mountain and sea scenery. The breakfast, afternoon tea, and a la carte dinner are all delicious. Even if the weather is bad, it is comfortable to stay in such a B&B. There is also a 24-hour self-service laundry room, which is very convenient.

One particular instance that stood out was when they effortlessly organized a wheelchair for a member of our group, making our stay comfortable and hassle-free. Additionally, they took charge of arranging all our ride-sharing services, ensuring we navigated the city with ease.
What truly impressed me was their unwavering support when we encountered an unfortunate scam. The host not only provided assistance but also guided us through the process of filing a complaint, alleviating much of our stress and frustration.
The rooms were immaculately clean and provided a cozy retreat after a day of exploring. Furthermore, the host’s insightful recommendations for places to visit enriched our trip, turning each outing into a memorable adventure.
Whenever we encountered language barriers, we could rely on the host to bridge the gap, offering translation services whenever needed. Their dedication to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction was truly commendable.

RrobynwhaleyThis hotel is more like a flat, it's in a block of flats meaning cars can't pick you up from the door, you have to walk outside of the community. The view is gorgeous and the hotel will pick you up from the railway station and guide you to your room. It's on the opposite side of the lake to the attractions, which we didn't mind as it was nice and quiet and gives you a different view of the lake. The room is decorated with a lot of tacky toys, literally Teddy bears on the bed like a child's room, if they were gone it would be nicer.
