I love this hotel! It’s absolutely gorgeous and unlike other “hotels” I stayed at in Cusco, the online pictures actually match what you get. The hotel has a gorgeous view of the hillside, and my room was very comfortable and clean. The staff is very friendly. One thing that stands out is the attention to detail! There are carved wooden shelves in the room, as well as an intricate carved baseboard for the bed. It really gives it that Spanish colonial vibe. The beds are super comfortable too! The area is a short walk from the main square, but there are many interesting alleyways with beautiful hidden gems to explore near the hotel. 10/10 would stay here again!

It was a nice quaint place to stay for a few days. The rooms were nice and they had hot water. Breakfast was included as well. There are alot of stairs if your room is on the bottom floor. There was a nice little lobby to meet our friends before we went out.

Our stay at Amaru Colonial Stay was a mixed experience, with both delightful and challenging aspects. The central courtyard is a standout feature, with an incredibly attractive garden that provides a peaceful and picturesque setting for relaxation. Our hostess, Brisas, was a true gem. She was friendly, very helpful, and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, our interactions with another host, a man whose name we didn’t catch, were less pleasant. He was not as friendly and didn’t make us feel as welcome, which was disappointing given the otherwise warm atmosphere of the place. The breakfast staff, on the other hand, were fantastic. They were attentive and made sure our eggs were cooked to order each morning, adding a personal touch that we greatly appreciated. Another highlight was the availability of hot mint tea 24/7. This little convenience made our stay much more enjoyable, especially after a long day of exploring. However, one significant downside was the hotel’s location. Situated uphill, it required quite a bit of effort to reach, which can be a challenge, especially if you are prone to altitude sickness. The climb exacerbated our symptoms, making it a less than ideal location for those sensitive to high altitudes. In summary, Amaru Colonial Stay offers a charming environment with a beautiful garden and excellent breakfast service. Brisas’ hospitality adds a lovely personal touch, although the less welcoming demeanor of another host detracted from the experience. Be prepared for the uphill climb, which can be tough, particularly if you’re affected by altitude sickness.

This hotel was quaint and was just what I needed for my week stay is Cusco. Close enough to the Plaza de Armas to see the sights and enjoy the delicious food in Cusco, but far enough away you don’t have horns blaring at all hours. Also has a beautiful courtyard that you can enjoy while reading a book or taking a call. The staff was kind and hospitable to me. After being in hostels for the majority of my month travelling, it was refreshing to have my own bed, a toilet seat and hot water. Also free breakfast starting early is a plus when you’re going out to start the day. Only flaw I had, was the pillows could be softer, but I’ve definitely had worse!

I was a little nervous about staying at Amaru Colonial because it was such a bargain, I thought it would be kind of run-down. But NO! It's GREAT. The grounds are beautiful and so are the views. Our room was super clean and comfortable. Breakfast is awesome. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Our bookings were reserved by Peru For Less. Nice place with decors and gardens. We had 2 rooms for 3pax. The breakfast and coffee was good. Staff were very approachable. We stored luggages with them due to multiple overnight trips. Wifi was good.

Stayed 3 nights with friends and greatly enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfy, the hotel looked super cool, they had free coca tea (10/10 recommend trying), and the breakfast was also available to-go if you had an early morning day trip. Shoutout to Gilbert from room service who was incredibly friendly, helpful, and cheerful during my first day in Cusco while I was suffering from altitude sickness and stuck in my room. Keep in mind that almost all hotels in Cusco only enable the heaters for a window of time: in our case, this was 7pm to 7am which was perfectly cozy for the night, and we never had any issue during the day since we were either outside or the weather was warm. The hotel has lots of hot water for showering which was a great relief after a long day outside (this not something that is guaranteed throughout Cusco hotels).
