We travelled on Boxing Day to get some winter sun and have a rest after Christmas. The hotel is one of the largest we have stayed in, there were plenty of sun beds available. Temperature was about 22 degrees most days, so it was lovely to sit round the pool. Food was good, lots of choice and variety. Yes, you had to queue sometimes for drinks, as mentioned in other reviews, but no issue to us, you’re on holiday, so what if you have to wait 5 minutes. Drinks were great. Staff very obliging and friendly. They work very hard. Reception was always busy, the staff were always friendly and helpful to us. We had a family room, which was great. It is nothing fancy, but clean and functional. A real effort was made to make New Year’s Eve special the food was lovely, candles on table, champagne in abundance, party bags and fireworks over the palm trees, much better than being in freezing cold England! Would we go back? Absolutely, infact we are looking to go for Christmas and take my parents too.

We are a family that goes away a lot and are lucky enough to go on holiday to different all inclusive hotels at least 3 times a year. We chose this hotel as it was close enough to the UK for us to not have to fly long haul as this Christmas we couldn’t find the time to adjust when we get back from a different time zone. The weather has been warm and sunny. 22 degrees most days. We have enjoyed the food as for a 4 star it is genuinely good and the Christmas feast was excellent and really well presented. The downsides was the checking in experience which was cold and unwelcoming. I was shocked to find out after getting to the room I had to go all the way back to the reception to pay for the safe. €50 for 12 nights is a complete liberty in my opinion. You have to use a safe to store your valuables so you have no choice but to pay it. I wasn’t informed I would need to pay when we checked in either, so it was particularly annoying. I didn’t find the reception experience good throughout the holiday unless you phoned from the room . In general, the staff for pleasant and obviously hard-working. I hate to complain as it is Christmas and the hotel was busy but I felt it lacked standards in terms of cleanliness. For example, in the toilets near the outdoor bar and snack area the urinals were blocked and full of urine. Nobody throughout the full 12 days we were there had drained them and had nearly covered them with plastic covers. The urine by the end was really unpleasant and pungent in its smell.. Also in the room if there are any plates or glasses from the day before they didn’t seem to get cleared, which I found out unusual. Everywhere else I’ve stayed around the world things from your room would be cleared. The town of Costa Calma is small and there isn’t much options, but I would highly recommend the restaurant called Asia garden in the town. Delicious Chinese food which is better than what we get in London or at least local to us anyway. I went scuba diving and had a wonderful experience, even though the dive was a short dive and was awkward and exhausting to get in and out. Plenty of sea life and it was amazing to see an angel shark, which is an endangered species. I also saw a large barracuda's and a large variety of other fish. If you are into scuba, I would highly recommend booking in some dives. Unfortunately, I was not feeling well so I didn’t do the Lighthouse dive so I can’t tell you what that one was like but I hear it is spectacular. This isn’t a terrible hotel and it did warm on me but I have stayed at many others that are Cleaner and nearly every place I’ve stayed at was much better in terms of arriving being made to feel welcome and given the correct information straight away. If you’re going to come to the Canary Islands I personally would recommend Lanzarote as where we stayed there last year seem to have more vibrancy, but maybe that’s just me. The food wasn’t as good there so it depends what y

Honest review. I wish I didn’t have to be this honest. Please avoid this hotel. We are here currently and I couldn’t be more disappointed. The hotel itself is highly run down. Broken tables, chairs. The whole place is falling apart. Upon arrival we had to wait 2 hours after check in time due to the room not being ready. The room itself was absolutely disgusting- the amount of bites myself, husband and children have is worrying. We did ask to switch rooms with the amount of bugs and cockroaches coming from under the bed- but the hotel stated that they were at full capacity. I wish we never booked here but we’re trying to make the most of it for the children. I can’t wait to get home. Do not BOOK!!!

4 nights solo stay for a December getaway. I asked for a quiet room and was given room 1084 on the ground floor. There wasn’t much of a view but it was lovely and peaceful on a night. With little noise from other rooms. The room was spacious and clean and had a terrace, which I never used. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but there is a fridge. I was all-inclusive and the food was lovely. Plenty of choice and very nice. There wasn’t much roast beef one evening which was delicious. Plenty of solo people in the hotel and everyone was so friendly. Plenty of sun loungers around the pool and beach. Lovely stay, I would highly recommend. Lots of German holiday makers who were very friendly and made me feel welcomed. Thank you for my little solo break.

To start with, the entire hotel is falling apart and nothing is being restored at all. This hotel looks like it was pure luxury 20 years ago, but nothing has been done or changed since then. The rooms are not clean. When we moved a sofa on the 1st day, there was a big dead cockroach under it. Also, the walls, especially in the bathroom, are full of dead mosquitoes. The 2nd night our room en my parents room was robbed, they took a total of about €450 in cash. I reported this to reception, who called the police. The police didn't come, we had to go to the police ourselves. But the police office was closed half of the time, when it was open there was nobody around who talks a little bit of English. The hotel itself and the manager did not do anything against the robbery, did not help us and did not do anything in return for us. Apparently this was quite normal for them. hey only checked the doors with their card reader. They let me take a look at the data of the card reader, there I saw that somebody checked in into 1 of our rooms at 8.15 PM, ‘with our own card’. But we were downstairs between 7.00 PM and 09.00 PM, so that was impossible. After 8.15 PM, there was a gap between 8.15 PM and 09.00 AM in their data, which was impossible too. So surely somebody manipulated the security system, but they didn't do anything about that either, they only told us they don't understand how it was possible. So needless to say, we did not feel comfortable anymore in this strange hotel in a strange neighborhood. The outside of the hotel, pools and so on, are reasonably OK, apart from the sun beds that should have been replaced 10 years ago. The food is the same daily but not bad. Everyday you have to wait 5 minutes in a queue for a coffee, the coffee corner smells really really bad. Summary: don't come here. This place is not safe because the hotel is old and not maintained and they manipulate the security system. This is the worst hotel I have ever been.

Be Careful what you get!!! Booked this Hotel but got put in the Nalitus Hotel next door that they apparently own. It’s a dump have a concrete balcony overlooking a road the curtains are hanging down very tired. However Costa Calma Beach is very nice. If I knew I was going to be put in this hole I would never have booked it. Reception doesn’t see what the problem is!! Photos will follow our room is the one on the right I think. Avoid this place at all costs. Not looking forward to spending another 10 nights here and that’s for sure. Was supposed to be a relaxing holiday for my Sister and myself following a horrendous year. All I can say is this is like a nightmare from hell.

We are on are last night of our holiday. I am glad the bad reviews are not true. Staff extremely friendly food was good, choice for everyone we ate well every day. There was plenty to drink through the day nonalcoholic and alcoholic. Over all myself and my husband had an amazing time and will be returning.
