Hotels in Altstadt-Süd, Cologne

The bathroom was clean and odor-free, and the shower was spotless. It comes with a kitchen and a washing machine, which is a huge bonus. Definitely recommended, and the price is quite reasonable.

Though it is an old hotel, it is clean and well kept. There is a tiny lift (no sweat with luggages). Room has beautiful courtyard view. Sound proofing needs some work 😅 Room was warm as it faced west, asked for a table fan. Buffet continental breakfast has a good selection of cheese. Overall it is well worth the money. Friendly staff. We could check in at 10.30am as the room was ready.

the room is clean, the owner is gentle and responsive. The only problem is there is no sound proof at all - considering this is a general flat problem, we can still bear with many random noises coming from outside or inside the building. But there are two permanent residents who share the flat with us cooking and talking to each other from 23pm to 1am, just outside our room. we felt weird to tell them to keep quiet as we are the 'temporary guest'. there must be some rules to be set up if the owner wants to mix long-term and short-term stays.

The hotel is in a great location, offers excellent service, and boasts spacious rooms, completely breaking the common misconception of cramped rooms in Europe. It's within walking distance of Cologne Cathedral, and there's a supermarket downstairs, making it incredibly convenient. For those driving, there's parking available, and the elevator leads directly to the hotel lobby. Highly recommended.

The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were all friendly. The bathroom even had a bathtub, so I enjoyed a relaxing bath. The bed was comfortable, the view was beautiful, and I was completely satisfied. The hotel was also filled with Seo's works, which was truly stunning. If I stay in Cologne again, I'd definitely book here again.

The hotel's surroundings were a bit worrying at first sight, but then we saw that it was a very good location. It's very easy to get to the fair. The rooms are small but adequate.

Great place to stay..just above the station with mere minutes to walk . Nice room and splendid breakfast offerings. Room does not provide toothbrush 🪥 so bring one . No slippers if you feel that you need.

I was a little worried about this hotel after reading the reviews at first, but I put up with it because it's relatively cheap for a single room. The location is OK, one bus stop to the cathedral, and it's easier to find on the roadside. Of course, it's a bit noisy when sleeping near the roadside, and the soundproofing is average (you can hear noises in the corridor). The bed is still a little unclean, the mattress is very soft, and the service of the front desk girl is good when I check in. There is no water boiler in the room, so you have to buy mineral water to drink. The hotel breakfast is also OK, buffet style, relatively rich, and I think it's worth the price

Lyskirchen Köln is such a good choice even the locals and traveling Germans recommend it. The location is 5-7 minutes away from the Chocolate Museum and roughly 15 minutes from the cathedral and central station. You can easily walk to the restaurants (including a nice Thai place called Krua Thai) and bars and reach the Roman museum and Hohenzollern bridge without much effort. The rooms at Lyskirchen are comfortable but don't expect the typical extras associated with 4-star hotels. I was grateful for the swimming pool, which was spacious enough that kids don't bother you when you do short laps (most will be disappointed with the gym though). I highly recommend doing the online check-in because the front desk will tell you to perform it there anyway. Lyskirchen Köln has these really nice eco-friendly keycards too. The breakfast is typical intercontinental and limited (so if it's not included with the room the 25 euros isn't worth it). Overall, the hotel is still an excellent choice for a brief stop at Köln.

A really nice hotel. But temperature in Finnish sauna room is sooooo high! I have been to Finland and the sauna room there weren‘t that hot. My feet got burnt by the time I stepped on the wooden stair.
