Find the Cheap Lagoa Hotels

My husband and I are staying here for the last part of a two week vacation in Portugal. We had looked at reviews and pictures of this resort prior to arriving and were excited to stay here. Upon arrival we could see that the views were beautiful but the resort fell short in every other way. When we checked in our room was not yet ready so we stopped at the restaurant for lunch. While at lunch we had to track down staff to give us a seat, get any drinks, and then to order our lunch. Finally our food came and for a 5 star resort the food was less than subpar. We ordered 2 sodas, a personal pizza, and a cheeseburger and the bill was over $60 usd. The restrooms that were available to use for guests had toilet paper holders that were falling off the walls, soap dispensers that were rusted, and bathroom doors that did not lock. Finally once it was time to check into our room I was at first impressed with how the room looked but that quickly changed. Once in the room we found ants crawling around the bathroom and within 5 minutes we had killed over 10 ants alone. At this point we were frustrated and contacted our travel agent to help resolve this issue. Soon after my travel agent contacted the hotel the hotel then called me personally to say that they were made aware I was “complaining.” During that phone call they never offered anything to make our stay better. We decided to walk around the resort to get out of our room and walked down to the spa only to find all the lights off and the “hot tub” cold. After a long day of travel and frustration we decided we would give the restaurant another try. Unfortunately our experience was not any better with dinner. We both ordered risottos one mushroom and one scallop and prawn risotto. The mushroom risotto was almost all mushrooms that tasted like they were from a can and the scallop and prawn risotto had only two scallops and two prawns. We contacted our travel agent again to have them help with our problems with the resort and then decided to get some rest. The next day we spent the day by the pool where not once did any staff ask if we wanted a drink or to order lunch. When we found a staff member to order lunch they gave us a menu but never came back to take our order. Finally we got our food and after we finished it they never came to pick up the plate so after over an hour we took the plate to them. Since check in we have been working with our travel agent to get a refund for our stay and our travel agent has been met with nothing but pushback. Considering all of the issues we are having a refund is the least this resort could do. This resort has the potential to be a great place because of the scenery but they have a lot to improve on for it to be considered a 5 star resort.

Very nice and quiet hotel, but the food is terrible. Do not listen to any recommendations coming from the front desk, because they are not helpful when you get ripped off by who they recommend. They told us to use 5emotions for a boat tour and raved about how good they were. The next day the tour they recommended did not take us into the caves and when i complained about it they did absolutely noting! We paid them but they did nothing when we didn't get what we paid for. This left a bad taste in my mouth. If you have to stay here, stay just don't listen to anything front desk has to say and do not pay them for anything extra. They clearly all work together to rip customers off. DO NOT USE 5emotions for any excision.

Booked a 3-night twin room to attend a friend's lecture in Lagoa. The hotel, or better, motel is excellent for those on wheels, not for those on foot. If you have disabilities find another town in the Algarve. Some sets of stairs do not have rails, you have to go round the entrance to physically 'get in'. The reception has only 1 staff member when off-season, be prepared and do it all online. Forget questions about taxis, transportation, and restaurant advice is really subjective. The room was very comfortable, the second door to a set of stairs (curled) with direct access to the car park/entry of the hotel area was not. Cold and humidity pass through the doors (front door leading to corridor inside as well), as doors need maintenance. Breakfast is good and varied, for all tastes, except gluten-free options. Internet signal very weak, had to use phone data package. Check-in is only at 4pm. Pro's. besides what I already mentioned: bus terminal 5 min walk, good restaurants each way 5 min walk (one is just next door), supermarket passing the roundabout, beds very comfortable. You can walk to the centre (10 min walk) but the town is without interest, unless you are there for an event, for those on foot, you can stay here and get to know other nearby cities in the Algarve by bus, as the terminal is so close, and it is not expensive to go around by bus.

Just got back from a week here. We used it as a base for cycling which was ideal as the location was perfect to explore the area. There is an Intermarche 0.9 miles away. We had a 2 bed villa which was very spacious. Loved the separate lounge area and kitchen and of course a spare room. Yes it is dated and 1 of the beds was really noisy but was adequate for our needs. Villa Our villa faced the main road, which although seems small it was incredibly busy and we were disturbed every night, throughout the night by noisy traffic. There is a very small balcony area which didnt get the sun but the views were quite nice and you could see the sunrise. Food We were really disappointed, having stayed half board in many hotels of varying star ratings, this was by far the worst. Breakfast was childrens cereals (3 of), cold bacon, cold scrambled egg, toast, yoghurt, very watered down juices. Nice fruit salad, selection of cold meats and a cheese. It never changed. The evening meal was from a menu, hit and miss, most of the meat choices were tasteless and dry, the fish and lasagne were nice. I prefer a buffet style by choice. The waiting staff worked hard and were polite. Pool Outside pool was fantastic, plenty of sunbeds, large pool that didnt make your eyes sting or smell of chlorine. We didnt use the indoor pool. Wifi What wifi, there was none available in the villa and even when you went to the pool area or reception it was hit and miss. We needed it to upload our routes for the next day and it became an issue on occasion. There was no atmosphere at the hotel and I appreciate we came at the end of the season. I dont think we would stay here again sadly.

Context - 12 night stay, family with 2 young teenagers in August We stayed in Villa 100, a 'luxury 2 bed townhouse' Accomodation: Great accomodation, some maintenance required, but not important. The accomodation was spacious, clean, beds were really comfortable, showers were great, loads of kitchen storage, sofas really comfortable, effective air com, kitchen with 4 burner hob, ovem, microwave, toaster, cofferr machine, washing machine and dryer. 5 star comfort, and nearly 5 star appearance (just a few maintenence piece needed ie chips in kitchen cupbaords, locks of bathrooms not aligned etc) Outside the accomodation we had 2 loungers, 4 would have been better, a table with 4 chairs with a few of a small pool. The pool near our villa was excellent. We generally were able to get this to ourselves at some points in the day, and there were always loungers available. This isn't the main pool. The main pool is a couple of minutes walk from the villa, and again excellent. it was quiet, but still an atmosphere, no problem getting loungers. On one day we had to hunt down an umbrella. There is also an indoor pool, that opens out to a terrace. Didn't think we'd use it, but it was really nice, and we used that as well. Useful when it's windy and the outdoor pool got chilly. The spa was good. My wife had a treatment that she said was very good. there was a steam room and sauna, both good, a small gym (didn't use). Jacuzzi was open, but didn't seem to work ie no bubbles! Outdoor pool bar was closed for refurb, but an indoor alternative was available. Restaurant was probably the biggest disappointment. We were self catering, used it once, and didn't return. The food was ok, but comparing it to the external restaurants we ate at, was nowhere near as good and significantly more expensive. Service in the restaurant was more comparable to a 3 star hotel. What was particularly disappointing was that 'portuguese' night was just a subset of the standard A la carte menu. Housekeeping were variable, ranging from spectacular to average! Some days they even unloaded our dishwasher which was a lovely touch. Other days they took away hand towels and didn't replace them. Resort did not have much to do for teenagers, other than making their own entertainment in the pool, but for us that was fine. Overall, a hotel is pleasant, lovely pool areas and accommodation is extremely comfortable but let down by the restaurant. Outside of the resort, in Carvoeiro we ate at 'Elliots' in the centre, and 'Recanto da Boavista' (2 minute walk from the hotel). Both of these restaurants were excellent, and catered well for my son who has a milk allergy. The other place we went to in Carvoeiro was Sandoskas. Again really good, but more cheap and cheerful. Whilst their bread contains milk, their baguettes don't, so hot dogs with baguette is a milk free option! The ice cream shop opposite also does a good range of vegan ice creams. The room is large and quiet but the boxes are old and dirty gardens with locked parts. The balcony is large but dirty and needs a update in the painting. The bathroom is good but with strong smell from the rack. The room is large and it would be good to have a supplement waste because it only has in the bathroom and in the kitchen. The mini kitchen has a good fridge but the boxes and pia are very old, with a strong smell. I missed detergent and bubble in the kitchen. The room level would justify having a Nespresso, it would be very good. The good point are towels of excellent quality in both the room and the pool. The area of the pool is beautiful, well-cared garden and top chairs to sleep. The bar is interesting, but I didn't use it because I found the prices a little cheap. We have dinner one day at the hotel, I don't recommend it, it's buffet service and the food wasn't good, it was expensive.

We stayed at Placid Village for a week in early August, the complex is very welcoming and well maintained, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We always got a sunbed by the pool each day, there is no race in the morning and people come and go all day. I emailed a couple of weeks before our arrival to request an apartment on the top floor with a sea view (admittedly this is in the distance) and that is exactly what we got. We had a 3 bed apartment which was immaculate and very spacious, fully functional kitchen, two balconies, a real home from home and very well thought out. The walk into Carvoeiro takes around 10-15 minutes down the hill and usually got an Uber back up as cheap and plentiful. On the way into the town is a small mini market for essentials but if you want to do a main shop there are several supermarkets in Lagoa, (Intermarche, ALDI, Apolonia, Pingo Doce) which were less than 4euros each way by Uber if you don’t have a car. The only downside was one of the bedrooms had no hanging space of it’s own, just some drawers however there was a large wardrobe in the other two bedrooms and when we arrived nobody was in Reception, there is no call bell so just had to wait for Paulo to check us in which at the time felt like forever after you’ve been travelling for half a day to get there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Placid Village and would definitely return there again.
