The hotel is amazing, the rooms are fantastic. Been here 4 nights and had dinner here 4 times, the food was awesome. The staff is the best staff i have ever had in a hotel, especially Jodie, Becky and Karen were lovelly. The served us very well the last couple of days.
Overall this is a nice hotel, behind a very unassuming frontage. Our room (room 1) was large and comfortable. Internally the part of the hotel where the bedrooms are looks like it's been refurbished or redecorated quite recently, because everything was clean and smart. The rooms are furnished in a very elegant sort of style, with lots of wood around. There's a classy looking ”lounge” on the first floor. The staff were all friendly. There's a car park (payable) just a minute or two's walk away. The hotel is in a great location. A couple of *******, hence the 4 stars... breakfast really wasn't good. The room price includes a ”continental” breakfast, which is toast, a croissant, a choice of two or three cereals, ham, cheese, fruit juice and tea or coffee. It really is very minimalist, and for the price of the room I would expect a better breakfast. Yes, you can pay for hot dishes or a cooked breakfast, prepared in the deli that's next door but is part of the same establishment, and I'm sure it's very good. But you shouldn't have to pay. Strangely there isn't a menu on the tables, only in the bedroom. It all seemed very odd, especially as I can see there are past reviews criticising the breakfast. Secondly, we were staying for two nights, and expected the room to be made up on the second day, but it wasn't. Again I can see other reviews saying the same thing. I don't know if they *never* service the rooms, or only rarely. We were certainly not told in advance that the room would not be made up. It wasn't a big issue, but again seemed strange. But apart from those two negatives, I'd recommend the Falstaff for a comfortable and well-located place to stay for a visit to Ramsgate.

I was looking forward to a short stay in Ramsgate, and from what I'd read up on the Royal Oak Hotel, I thought I'd be in for a treat. How wrong I was. On arrival to my room there was water around the base of the washbasin in the shower room. I showed this to the manageress and she explained it couldn't be looked into that day but someone would look at it the next day, towels were laid on the floor to mop up the wet - okay, but no one came the time I was there and the towels remained on the floor for the stay. There was rarely anyone on Reception, guests are expected to make a phone call to get someone to come and see them - as my mobile wasn't working, making that call was impossible. I ordered breakfast one morning, for which I had to go to the bar next door to the hotel. The breakfast was very small, and very expensive for what it was - over £10, plus coffee, when I'd enquired about the cost originally I was told it would be £8 (I wish I'd gone to Wetherspoons). During my stay my room wasn't serviced, although I'd left a 'please service my room' note on my door for 2 days. On the day of departure, as usual no one was in reception, so no one to explain my grouses to. In fairness, it was explained when I arrived that there was skeletal staff, but I'd paid the full cost of the room, which considering there was no breakfast, wasn't cheap, so I expected at least to have the bed made and the bin emptied. The location is great and the hotel is very clean, but that's all the positives I can say about this hotel.
We had a five night stay at The Yarrow and we had a wonderful time. Although it is a historic building it was well maintained, bright and airy and super clean. All staff were super friendly and helpful but also very professional at the same time. We felt very relaxed. Our room was spotless and bright with plenty of room and we also had a view of the sea. The bed was so comfortable! We did have a couple of niggles with the room - nothing too problematic but worthy of a mention. The pillows were new (as I discovered) and too hard for us. I asked if there were any softer ones available but sadly there wasn't. Having a pillow choice would be beneficial. The bathroom, whilst spotless and cleaned thoroughly every day - could benenfit from some shelving. There was only one very small shelf with no room for wash bags or toiletries. We had to store ours in the top of the wardrobe... It was also a little bizaar entering a bathroom through double doors. Not sure if all rooms have this but it was a first for us. Lovely soft fresh towels too! Breakfast was a delight. It was buffet style with hot and cold options and there was plenty to choose from. You do have the option of ordering specials from a menu too. A very relaxed atmosphere and lovely waiting staff on hand if you needed anything. We were surprised that you have to get your own teas and coffee from a machine though. Not great and not sure why they don't offer fresh tea and coffee brought to your table. This is something I would expect from a hotel of this calibre. If like us you like to leave the car behind and take a break from driving - it is a short 5 minute walk into Broadstairs itself or you can catch the Loop bus right outside the hotel. The Loop bus is a convenient way of getting around the local area which doesn't cost the earth either. There is a large car park at the hotel but you do run the gauntlet of cars and people at certain times of the day, mainly between 8.30 and 9 am and 4.30 to 6pm. The hotel is adjacent to the local college and at the far end of the car park is a childcare nursery. They all share the same vehicular entrance so it does get very busy with students and cars coming and going. Would we recommend The Yarrow. In a word - yes!
We had a fab stay at Ebenezers last week. Neil and his wonderful team really looked after us. With Neil this place is his passion and so he wants everyone to have the best of stays. If you like quirky, comfortable and friendly look no further than this establishment for your stay in Broadstairs. We stayed in the Beach room. Ebenezers is centrally located, it’s very clean and with a roll top bath to soak in a bathroom gorgeously tiled and then a comfy king sized bed to enjoy a good nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious and varied. We so enjoyed Darcy and Molly, Neil’s little dogs whose antics kept us entertained. We will definitely be back soon . Broadstairs is a hidden gem with lots of lovely restaurants to try. Sardinia was a real favourite of ours.
Plenty of possitves including comfortable refurbished room in good location with sea views. Breakfast had good options including gluten free and vegan. Staff at breakfast also very accommodating. On the down side there was no fridge in the room. You get given some milk in a flask but it goes off, and you have to keep going to reception for refills. We found the bed a bit hard and the pillows even harder. The bathroom floor tiles were very dirty. The biggest issues was not having hot water over our 4 day stay. After notifying reception the first time we were told a new boiler had been installed and to wait a while. That made no difference at all, an experience repeated on the many times we raised it with staff. We were repeatedly told the issue had been resolved, or to try running the tap for longer, or to wait until latet. On complaining more firmly we were told an engineer would be called and that ”something would be done to our bill”. This made no difference and no adjustment to our bill was made. I appreciate problems sometimes occur but we were never given an explanation and we never felt we were being taken seriously. Given how much we paid, not being able to shower properly for our whole stay was unacceptable. Sadly we would look at alternatives if we revisit Broadstairs.
There’s not actually a great deal of hotel choice in Thanet but this Marston’s Inn is located in equidistant between Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate. It is basic and slightly better than a Travelodge - certainly the telly is bigger. Our room 209 was looking a bit tired / dated and the a/c gurgled throughout the night. Bed was fine and it was actually quite quiet (apart from the aircon). It was handy to have free parking but we didn’t stay for breakfast in the adjacent Canterbury Bell pub.
