First of all the majority of staff are friendly and helpful, one or two restaurant staff avoid talking or even smiling to customers. In fact my husband was bumped into by a young, heavy built member of staff while carrying two coffees but no apology was offered and they kept walking. We have visited this hotel a few times over the past few years and feel it has gone downhill. It is looking a bit tired in some areas, rooms especially need a freshen up. The food is not good, breakfast is manageable but lunch and dinner are dire. We waited to see if they would ever serve beef of any sort but no, it was mainly fish, not very nice fish I might add and pork was served 2 or 3 times but was a weird, jelly like consistency sometimes which made it inedible. Food was very boring, bland and repetitive, desserts didn't vary much, if at all, thank goodness for the fresh fruit. We decided to eat out a few times because we were desperate for some tasty food. Cleaning of the rooms was passable, the balcony was never touched in the week we were there apart from once where the table and chairs were moved but not cleaned at all. The hotel is in a prime location which is really good but is definitely not 4 stars. Marcus on the reception was wonderful, helpful and very welcoming as was the girl at the sauna from Portugal, unfortunately we didn't get her name.
There are plenty of plus points about this hotel, but it would only be fair to mention a couple of the factors detracting from the experience too.. Staff from the word “GO” were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Maids, receptionists, pool guy - everyone Impact of the property was highly impressive and will be even better when the piazza outside is finished. Pool was great, although it didn’t open till 10am, so no pre-breakfast swim Sun lounge was pleasant. As with the pool area there were plenty of sun beds The rooms are large, and mine on the 8th floor had a lovely sea view. The balcony was equipped with very comfortable furniture. Another nice touch was the free electronic digital safe A couple of things were annoying - the shower head was mounted so high that the jet went right over my head (5’11”) unless the flow was almost nothing. The fridge had certainly seen better days. The basin wasn’t mounted well and clanked against the wall. No microwave. The thing I found most frustrating was the lack of Wi-Fi. The reception staff must have sick of people asking about it. Hope it gets sorted before too much longer It’s a pity these small factors let the overall experience down. I did hear that there are some rooms that have been renovated. I sound like I’m whinging, but I’m not trying to. Overall I was happy and value for money made it a good experience

Very Good
Just spent a fabulous stay at this lovely hotel. It is in a great location, quick walk to a lovely couple of beaches, amazing ocean views, beautiful palm trees and lots of sun! Just what we needed. The food was excellent, we were half board, which was more than enough to eat. Great quality of fresh ingredients and plenty of variety with the savoury dishes. Puddings not quite so, very samey and uninspiring on the whole. Some signs as to what the puddings were would have been helpful. Everything else is signed, why not the puddings? Our room was contemporary and very comfortable, lovely bed and the shower was great. Cleaned to a very high standard every day. Staff were all friendly, special mention to Hassan and Mame who worked so hard clearing and serving drinks, they always did it with a smile and warmth. The pool was noisy due to tiles being replaced, but not much that can be done about that. It sort of turned into background noise after a while, will look great when it is done. Pool is very fresh, we did enjoy swimming in it, but not many were. My main gripe is being made to pay for water at dinner, felt very unnecessary, E2.70 for two glasses of still water, with it otherwise freely available during the day, seems a little unnecessary. Highly recommend and hope to return..

GGuest UserI've just returned from an inclement week in Esquinzo. It is about 90 mins in a transfer from the airport. On the southern tip. Let me commence with a comment from a staff member 'it's not just quiet here. It's dead'. On arrival at the hotel the super tardy receptionist proclaimed two things 'no English' and 'passport now'. I was then provided a single piece of A4 paper which she drew a arrow on to point me to my room. Rooms are basic. Very basic. There was a very pleasing alarm clock type drilling from building work that awoke me daily from 8am. This is if the fact that staircases and upstairs apartments running over your bedroom doesn't get you. There is a wide array of cats running free and on the one morning there was no drilling, cleaning staff awoke me at 8 to reinforce I was leaving that day (8 hours later, they provide you no departure info). There is no WiFi (reception aside). There is no information. At all. (some basic room info in your kitchen in German aside). There are no offered or advertised excursions. At all. In 'esquinzo' there is a stunning beach. There is a small friendly bar (that only sells reheated frozen pizza) a tiny mini mart and that folks is it. No shop(S) . There is a restaurant attached to another hotel who turn you away and close for long periods. The monte del Mar restaurant food is awful with service similar to the reception. Other people talk about 'walking' to the next town 'Jandia'. It is not a town. It is a collection of 4 and 5 star all inclusive hotels which if you don't have one of their bands on your wrist they don't let you in. There is a supermarket. See previous of no cafes, bars etc. It is also a miserable 25 min hike there over mostly wasteland. However, here you can get a taxi (the hotel when I asked to order one, said they had, but didn't). Near 'Jandia' there is a great beach and bar. You need to be fit and able as it's a fair slog down a mountain, but worthwhile. (best just hit Esquinzo beach and follow the beach right). The nearest town with a couple of actual cafes, bars or eateries is Morro Jable. It's €12 in a taxi. Food is available but very average. Unless you want absolute total seclusion with limited access to food, daily noise, grumpy staff and limited views from your room, then please, swerve this place.
I booked this hotel knowing it would be on the quiet side of the Island as it was our first holiday with my girl who is 15 months old. Within a 20 minute walk however, there is a shopping centre, spar shop, beach and some bars. We walked there on a few occasions and it was always quite pleasant. One day we caught the bus to the oasis wildlife park - this picks you up from the hotel across the road and is €5 per adult, the baby was free. There are some smaller mini markets nearby where we were able to pick up milk for the little ones bottles as there is a fridge in the room. Now onto the hotel: Staff - such lovely members of staff who were kind and welcoming. They always said hello to us and paid attention to my daughter at meal times, they offered to get us a highchair if we needed one. Entertainment - there was something on every day (except weds), a kids disco every night with party dances and music on around the pool which, we didn’t find invasive. Plenty of pool tables and table tennis as well as a gym if you wanted to use it. Food and drink - drink is a help yourself basis including alcohol. Every one was polite and no queues. Food was basic but edible, similar things every day which wasn’t a bad thing. My little girl can be picky but there was always something for her. Rooms - no air con but I knew this before we went. The bedroom has a large ceiling fan in situ. The staff had already put a cot in the room ready for us with bedding on. We had a small patio outside which was nice in the evening once the kid was in bed. We got a suite so there was a fridge in the room. Added my Netflix to the telly then took it off at the end. Shower is powerful. Overall the hotel is clean and tidy, the cleaners come almost every day and you can ask for new towels etc if required. It is a quiet hotel but it’s very relaxing. We were the only English people there for the first few days and it was not a bad thing, I still felt very comfy in the environment. We would go again.
